    Great video Mariah. Sheesh, you have a bunch of content here!
    As a west Salem resident, the bridge issue is not really a daily problem. But with NO other good way to get across, if something terrible occurs, like a fatal traffic accident or years ago I remember a jumper on the bridge, the entire downtown area and west Salem becomes a parking lot. As you said, it is still not that bad compared to bigger cities, I just wish Salem could get out of its own way and put some more bridges in!

      Hey again!! Thanks for the info, it’s really awesome to hear from someone’s perspective who lives there and what they think 😊🙌🏼🙌🏼I definitely agree with you on that though, hopefully another bridge will come in at some point! Thanks for sharing!!

    West Salem here. 👋 One year there was a wreck on the Marion Street Bridge and it was closed 5 hours . You waited or parked your car at Rite Aid and walked. The homeless Don just live in shopping center parking lots here. They actually park along public streets and take over apartment complexes at night. Downtown you gotta pay for a parking permit. South Salem as far out as you can get is the best answer. Lancaster Drive area always has packed traffic and crime.

    You forgot to mention Lancaster Drive/Fisher Road. Really great areas to live to build character! “Oh but it’s the ghetto/hood” yeah yeah but it’s still great as there is zero crime in that area is very safe to walk at night. HMU as a REAL Salem foo posted on the block.

    I grew up in Salem, and would strongly recommend staying away from Lancaster(especially north Lancaster), and anywhere in the box between State and Mission streets, and 25th and 17th streets. If you have kids, I would switch this from "strongly recommend" to "flat dealbreaker." I'd also avoid Portland Road. Even if you don't have kids, if you're moving to this area and that's the price range you need to be in, buy in one of the smaller surrounding communities, and commute in.
    South Salem and West Salem are nice. I have friends in West Salem, and the West Salem bridge isn't bad at all. The commute through down town, on the other side of the bridge, is the bigger pain for me. Once you learn to navigate that, it's pretty smooth and easy, even in a big work truck.

    • @Will324

      I agree west Salem and south are the better parts of town but they also have their strange incidents. NE Salem and all of Lancaster is pretty much MEXICO and has cartel people and families running a lot of the economy which is why it's ghetto in many areas, although there still a few decent neighborhoods. What do you think of the sunnyview rd area east of Lancaster rd ?

    • @om617yota7
      @om617yota7 2 роки тому +1

      @@Will324 Sunnyview between Lancaster and 45th was pretty much the same as Lancaster, and I'd avoid it. Worse in some ways. Drunk people out walking around openly in the middle of the day. I drove down Sunnyview a couple weeks ago, and just east of Lancaster there were people very obviously selling (ahem) "distractions" of various types. I wouldn't want to live there at all. Out closer to Cordon road is better, and out beyond Cordon into farmland is better still.

    As a certified crime prevention and personal safety instructor I don’t recommend the downtown city center/Willamette university area at all. There’s rampant homelessness everywhere. It’s not a place you want to walk alone in at night.

    • @Will324
      @Will324 2 роки тому

      Most of Salem is a shithole in my opinion. Don't know why anyone wants to be here. It seems to be somewhat of a vortex - vortex: a place that sucks you in and once you're in, it's hard to get out. That's Salem to me. I hate it here but feel stuck.

    Typical home going for $400,000 and we are not talking about a nice home in a good area.
    Been here most of my life. Overrun by homeless, nothing for families to do, outrageous property taxes. With all due respect, you are a realtor trying to sell homes and this is not a great place to live anymore. Sorry but the truth is the truth and the very fact that Portlanders are moving here makes this an even more undesirable City to live in.
