    I have one of these HF carriers and the problem I have with it is that when you go to remove the bike, you have to lift the front wheel out of the 'hole' that it's down in. My TW200 front tire goes down pretty deep into that hole, so you're having to lift 150 lb. or more of front wheel, front suspension, and engine up and out of the hole before you can roll the bike off the carrier, which is hard to do alone while trying to balance the bike at the same time. Because of this, I put pins across the front tire area of the carrier so the front wheel sits on top of the carrier and doesn't extend down into a hole. I also removed the clamps for the front wheel but I put ratchet straps over the top of the front and rear tires to hold them down tight to the carrier. I'm going to experiment with flipping over the clamps so that they grip the front tire over the top of the carrier rather than the bottom to see if they will work that way. This carrier is still a work in progress for me and every solo loading and unloading is an adventure.

    Bought this model to haul my Pig ( xr650L) home when I bought it. I mounted it on my RV and it looked fine but wasn't keen on being 50 pounds under the max weight limit of the carrier. Bought the Black widow 500 pounder for the same price and was amazed how much sturdier it is even the thickness of the end that goes in your reciever. If you have a "portly" bike just get the black widow and don't worry about seeing your bike sliding in the rearview mirror @ 70 mph

    When customizing strap length take torch and heat sacrificial putty knife edge and push it straight down on nylon strap at desired length and that will make a clean sealed cut and prevents fraying. Try it!

    • @PSBEadventures

    Great video. Thanks for sharing. I have KTM 390 Adventure and a Honda crf300l but I can see a CT125 in my future. I have a Black Widow 600 lb steel carrier but the damn thing weighs over 100 lbs and is a pain in the ass to put on the car. I plan on buying the new Harbor freight rack and lose at least 50lbs in the process.

    Hey what's up mate, you got some excellent taste in vehicles, I also have a Samurai and a DR350 :) I was wondering if you've ever tried to load up your DR350 on the back of the Samurai with the motorcycle carrier, and if so how did it work? That's my dream but don't know if the DR is gonna be too heavy... although it looks like with all the extra gas and stuff on your CT125 it couldn't be that much lighter than a DR with an empty gas tank.

    • @PSBEadventures
      @PSBEadventures  3 роки тому +2

      Appreciate that man! Love to see some pictures of your setup. I did some bracing from the factory hitch up to the frame to sturdy up the factory hitch. I have definitely put the DR on the back of the Sammy just to mock it up. I haven't driven with it back there but it seemed plenty fine. Appreciate you watching man. Shoot me some pictures to my email in the about section if ya like!

      @@PSBEadventures So did you just weld a receiver onto the stock bar at the back? That looks like an easy option, I was thinking I'd have to fabricate a whole bumper or receiver to be able to handle the load of a bike.

    Actually, it’s supposed to be loaded from one particular end, and you have it loaded backwards. The front tire should be where those three pins are, and you actually let it set down between two of them, and you insert the center pin over the rim so it can’t pop out. The clamp that you clamped to your front wheel is supposed to be clamping on the back wheel.
