My misophonia would make me either run screaming from any room with a non-stop pen clicker, or calmly walking over, taking the pen, and snapping it in half. The second is just my imagination. The true second option is that, if I was unable to get away from the sound, I would have a panic attack and most likely end up hyperventilating until I pass out 😃
This is why fidget tools (they're _not_ toys!) are so important. Pencils to tap, pens to click, fidget spinners to spin, popper things to poke one way and the other.
Living in organized chaos, means finding the balance between, absolutely cleaning everything so it can look flawless, and understanding what's actually helpful and organized but re-arranging the messy piles so it's cleaned up but you can still find everything...
NO , that's a locked achievement you only get at level 102 ! Yes I chose that number for a reason. NOT 100, not 105, 102 is closer to 100 than 105....So if you slip up you go down to 101 ...
Aaah! This IS me. I have a pile of finished work that my boss needs to sign before it goes to accounting that I want to review with him. I have my library of things I want to do in future projects. My pile of projects I SHOULD be working on but I either hate the clients OR it's the most boring project ever and I will be able to finish it quickly when the deadline comes. Then there's all my art supplies hidden in my desk and doodle note book.
Ur one of the only creators/artists that doesn't overwhelm the audience with sounds, colors and unnecessary edits. Gets to the point softly and it's easy for everyone to understand! Ur amazing, all ur content is always super relaxing and relatable, good job
Relatable, but not just for workspace. I need to know where everything in my bedroom is, and if my things aren’t in plain sight then finding them suddenly requires so much motivation and daily tasks just become so much harder. Messy rooms just make everything so much simpler. I can’t stand it when all my things get hidden away in drawers and cupboards
If you keep your hobbies out in the open and visible, you're more likely to work on them. BUT, if everything is messy all the time you'll get depressed. What I do is I have a rule. My living room, kitchen, and bathroom must always be clean in case guests come over. But my bedroom is allowed to be a little messy. That way I always have a clean place for when I'm overwhelmed and a creative/disorganized place for hobbies.
I had two desks, a credenza, and two filing cabinets. I trained everyone, upon pain of flaying, that all new items brought into my office went on my chair. There were piles upon other piles rotated 90 degrees and anything I didn’t place was invisible to me. But I could instantly lay hands on what I needed!
Dammit, I feel extremely called out. It might look like a disaster, I might have over 10 doom drawers/boxes, and I might need to search for a minute or two, but at least I know where everything is. It also helps my severe anxiety and paranoia so that I don't think my things are disappearing.
When I was a teenager and my mom wanted to "help" me by cleaning my room, I used to say: "This is my controlled chaos. Please don't make a mess." She never understood me though... x)
It's what i call "cleaning without organization". Where the only goal is making it looking clean but you don't move things where they can still be tracked the same way as before.
This is the perfect way to describe my organization. Looks like a jumbled mess, but everything has its place and is mentally categorized. When it’s clean, I can’t find a thing.
The messier my table is, the more it help me feel I’m busy getting so much work done. Even tho all I did was attend 2 meetings, send 3 emails and drank 4 cups of coffee that day : D
This is so relatable. Once my mom cleaned out my dresser and I wanted to go grab something from it before remembering I didn’t know where it was or if I even had it.
I totally get it. I used to have the same issue. You have to retrain yourself to learn where everything has been moved to and commit to returning things there. I bought a labeler for key things around my home and work office and it was the best thing I ever did! Honestly, it hardly matters the cleanliness of your desk as long as it’s not stinking up the office, creating fire hazard, or where customers can see it.
This is SO relatable. My wife says I keep my home office in chaos, but it's a controlled chaos. I know where everything is. She says she can't find anything in there. I just say "Why are you in MY office? We bought our house with 4 bedrooms for a reason. 1 room for us, 1 room for guests/a possible kid someday, and 2 rooms for an office for each of us."
I relate to this so much! I spent two weeks avoiding the kitchen because after I had help cleaning it walking into the room would trigger panic attacks... because I didn't know how to deal with how my helper cleaned it. I couldn't find anything and my work flow was ruined.
It’s even worse if someone tries to clean it for you! I appreciate the thought when someone cleans for me, but I really can’t find anything if I’m not the one to put things away.
Probably the best way to clean my office is to clear out what should be trashed. Mostly papers. That seems to help a lot. Once, I put my papers in about 4 reusable grocery bags. Then when I had the time and wherewithal, I took a bag and cleared _all_ the stuff out of it that I didn't need anymore. What was left was maybe ten items I needed to keep. The rest got dumped.
They need a visual organization system. I would recommend trays for the piles of paper and keep them in the same places he had them before, just slightly corralled. Then use vertical space for the sticky notes and markers. Do I think about this stuff a lot? Yes, yes I do😅
And I just received one of your books, Pebble and Wren. Bought it on Amazon and love it! ❤❤❤
