    I really like you fishing channel. Grew up watching Jose Wojebe and Flip Pallot and just about everyone else at that time. Your genuine kindness for others and your humility, in my opinion, separate you from the rest. May there be much success and joy coming to you as you have helped and inspired others who share your passion. The Lord Jesus Christ loves you.

    ever use croakers offshore? You think they'd make good bottom bait out there for grouper? Nice vid again, cant wait to watch more of these beach snookin vids.

    Good stuff Joey!!! We were at the beach Tuesday with Mojarra’s and caught a couple Snook, blues, and jumped a huge Tarpon... Did you get the croakers cast netting at the beach ? Thank you for all the education!!!

    Two different species, croakers and spots...spots are good for bait but also pan size are great to eat.

    • @JoeyAntonelli
      @JoeyAntonelli  5 років тому

      different species go by different names depending on where you are. Croaker is a very broad species of fish. A red fish is even in the same species. Annoying and confusing but people tend to call this one bait fish spots, croakers, soft-heads, and mizzukies.

    • @JoeyAntonelli
      @JoeyAntonelli  5 років тому +2

      I live in Indialantic so I do a lot of fishing around there. But I'm constantly moving all over Brevard. I fish from Sebastian up through Cocoa Beach. As far as snook fishing on the beach is concerned they are at every Beach All Summer Long. Find a beach with not a lot of people on it and you'll be set.

    Great video. Do you ever use circle hooks instead of the live bait hooks? If so what size?

    • @JoeyAntonelli
      @JoeyAntonelli  5 років тому

      Sometimes I use circle hooks. With a big date like a croaker I use a 5/0 - 7/0 light wire circle hook.

    Can you recommend a lure for the surf for this time of year?

    • @JoeyAntonelli
      @JoeyAntonelli  5 років тому +1

      Hard baits like windcheaters plugs and Spoons can work well now.

  • @CBonesey
    @CBonesey 5 років тому

    How well do you do with Whitting for bait? Sometimes that’s all that’s present on the beach at times. I’ve had success with good size snook, but the whitting just don’t seem as skitzty on the line, a little calm. Will you use large ones or medium?

    • @JoeyAntonelli
      @JoeyAntonelli  5 років тому

      When I use Whiting I like them to be small. Hook them in the tail and they will move around a little more. You are right though they do not provide as much action as the croakers

    • @CBonesey
      @CBonesey 5 років тому +1

      Joey Antonelli thanks for the reply! Agreed, I don’t see as much success on the bigger ones. Good advice on tail hooking, will definitely give that a shot when whiting are the only option.

  • @michaelcusumano1988

    Hey Joey I’m about to Buy a Avet LX G2 I was wondering what size line you would recommend to put on the Spool and size Top shot if I wanted to get some grouper on the inlet.

    • @JoeyAntonelli
      @JoeyAntonelli  5 років тому +1

      A 2-speed reel is very important. Makes a huge difference. I use 80 lb backing with a large Top Shot of 400 lb mono.

    • @JoeyAntonelli

    Why didnt you make it yourself and what weight is the rod?

    • @JoeyAntonelli
      @JoeyAntonelli  5 років тому

      Why didn't I make what myself? I did make that rod and then I had a chip guide so I gave it to my buddies at Burr Custom Rods to replace the guide for me. While they were doing that they rewrapped all the guides. They are set up to do it and I would have to get all my rod building stuff out just to fix one guide. The blank was a discount blank in a $5 bin. My best guess is that it's about 10 to 20 pound rating.
