    Love it! Thanks so much. I would just add that they should hold on to their ticket until their ride is completed and they leave the station - because if they throw out the card, and they get stopped by the metro security - they have no proof of payment and can get a hefty fine. They can also use the same ride on metro to transfer onto buses if it's within 90 minutes of the start of their ride.

    Very helpful thank you. All public transport services world wide should make these sorts of informational videos.

    Hello Dan! That was helpful to those that have never ridden a subway.

    Super helpful!! I was wondering if it was similar to the NYC metro - which it is. Once you know where to last stations are, it's super easy. Thanks for the great video 😁

    Nice video. I rode the Montreal Metro several months ago and used cash . I put a $5 bill in the slot and got my ticket and coins in change.

    I’m really confused about all the fare zones and let’s say how to buy a pass for three days for both Montreal and Laval. I didn’t see that anywhere on the machine

    I have used the Montreal Metro "subway" System a number of times.
    I was impressed by Montreal's subway --- and I am from (and live in) New York City with its huge subway.
    Of course, in the NYC subway these days in the Dystopian, rapidly declining Divided States of America.....
    we must be on guard for being shot, stabbed, or pushed onto the subway tracks while waiting on a platform.
    Somehow....for some reason....I have a hunch that in the Montreal subway, people do not need to have such dreadful concerns about being shot, stabbed, or pushed onto the subway tracks.
    Dan, is my hunch correct?
    Very Sad for us here in NYC.

    Hi!
    Thanks for the great video.
    Was wondering if travel cards like YouTrip work on the Montreal Metro (tapping it where you'd tap the regular metro cards)?

    If I want to ride the whole system for the day is the 24 hour option the cheapest?

  • @Canleaf08
    @Canleaf08 Рік тому +1

    I recommend to buy a rechargeable card. You can put ANY ticket on this card. If it is a single use fare, a daily pass, 3 day pass, week pass, monthly pass. Or you will end up with many l'occasionelles. I did this mistake when I moved to Montreal. I recommend to buy a pass according to the length of your stay in Mtl. The rechargeable is good for 4 years.

      That's actually not true, you can put any "Zone A" fares on the anonymous Opus cards, but AB/ABC/ABCD fares you need a special Opus card for those. For people who are just visiting, getting an Opus card is a bit overkill, I'd only recommend it for people who plan to move to Montreal.

    can anyone help me? If i buy the 3 day pass is this unlimited travel for 3 days?

    • @ShadowVipers
      @ShadowVipers 25 днів тому

      Yes, but it's NOT a 72 hour pass. It expires on the 3rd day @ 11:59pm after first use regardless of if that first use was in the morning, in the afternoon or at night.
      This actually threw me for a loop when I bought one thinking it would last 72 hours.

    How does one get from Pierre Trudeau International Airport to Côte Vertu Station?

  • @benjamincroteau1405
    @benjamincroteau1405 Рік тому

    As long as you don't leave the train station (exit through the gates), does it still count as 1 trip?

    • @ShadowVipers
      @ShadowVipers 25 днів тому

      Yes. There is a transfer/connection system for 2 hours so long as you don't go back on a transit route (ex: a specific bus route) that you previously rode on.
      So if you took say Bus 123 in one direction then took it again within those 2 hours regardless of the direction, it will use up another "trip" from the card. But if you take bus 123 then you transfer to bus 321 within those 2 hours it will just be 1 trip.
      The only part I'm not sure of is how this connection system works for the Metro. So I just assume that it counts as a single transit route, where it will not recognize a connection if you exit one metro station and re-enter a different metro station within the 2 hours (even if that station is a different "line") it will still use another "trip". Though I haven't verified this since I usually purchase the monthly pass.

    • @detrailia
      @detrailia Рік тому +1

      There and back - so if you tap the card once to ride the train, get out of the station, and come back later, you can tap the card one more time.

    Which one should I select for 8 days?

    • @ShadowVipers
      @ShadowVipers 25 днів тому

      There is no 8 day pass. The closest thing would be a Mon-Sun pass (At the time of writing, we don't have a 7 day pass, which I think is a bit dumb). The pass only works until Sunday @ 11:59pm of the given week it was bought in, regardless of which day you bought it on.

    What happens if you don't get off the last station?

    • @minirick69
      @minirick69 Рік тому +1

      the train usually just do a kind of u-turn and goes in the other direction

    • @urbanlegend3972
      @urbanlegend3972 Рік тому

      Or, if you had fallen asleep or deliberately planned to remain on the train to enter the switchback at the end of the line, a transit official at the last station would inform you to immediately disembark. At this point in time, however, there are plenty of UA-cam videos showing the switchbacks and end-of-line garages, so there is really no need to sneak such a ride anymore--unless of course you feel the need to grandstand.

      U-turn tracks would be impractical underground. Instead they use switchbacks, traditionally called "wyes". The TTC uses u-turns (called loops) for their above-ground light rail.@@minirick69

    Montreal’s subway system is WAAAAY better than what we have in New York! It’s cleaner,
    more efficient and, of course, bilingual.
