seeing one teacher as a buddha?, so one student decides they feel deep faith in the teachings and intentionally generate an open mental acceptance of the teacher as being a buddha, so when receiving the transmission we generate strong faith strong intention positive attitude as teacher as buddha, or is it deeper, student needs to actually have the realizations to see teacher as a buddha as in see unquestionably enlightened qualities because of a purified mind, i guess what i ask is attitude or actually seeing?

My take on it was that attitudes shape the degree of a person’s receptivity. Very few of us have that actual level of mental purification. The idea does introduce potentially difficult issues in that many students will tell themselves that their teacher is so perfect in all things including outside of teaching contexts then you get the breeding ground for money and sex scandals. We have a playlist on relating to teachers that has excellent commentary from people like Alan Wallace, Robert Thurman, Ken McLeod and others on these latter issues.
