“If you want it to become your full-time job, you can’t treat it like a part-time job or a hobby.” That really spoke to me 🙌🏻 I switched my mindset the last two weeks, and I’ve been working 8-10 hour days on my UA-cam channel between filming, editing, and educating myself (about how to grow, how to do thumbnails, etc). It’s hard-ass work, but it’s all worth it 💪

i love this 🤎 the biggest takeaway that i've gotten since starting my channel is how youtube really is the ✨long game✨. i've realized that i'm going to upload a bunch of videos that i've worked hard on for it to possibly only get like 2 views but that's just the way it is. you won't always get a payoff every video but if you really enjoy it, you'll eventually grow enough to where you will be consistently getting those views. it just takes time

Yes, yes to being a long-game. Put decent foundations in to start with clearly helps keep the early motivation going. And probably a few early 'fortunate' video/shorts results.

"People love to judge you, until you're successful, and then they want to be your friend." THIS. The fear of judgement held me back for a long time, but then I posted my first vid and said eff it LFG. Thank you for this!

I can’t stress this enough that part where you say you have to be so self motivated to keep yourself accountable to meet your own deadlines I can’t stress this enough is 100% on the money. This feels exactly like a job. I film and edit all of my stuff. Since I’ve started creating and taking it up a notch with my content trying to consistently improve I’ve noticed the time has went up drastically trying to create. I literally go to work for 8 hours to come home and work another 6 to 8 hours on my videos to try and get them done by my deadline. The journey I’m grateful for it’s one I enjoy because I’m investing in myself being my own boss and running my own business. I enjoy creating and doing what I’m doing and making my visions come to light. The algorithm recommended this channel to me and I’m grateful it did. Really helps me out. Thank you for making this

Something I learned recently that really, really helped me recently, was "Do one thing each day that takes you closer to your goal" ❤. I think it really ties into what you said about the power of consistency, and thinking about what your goals are. Yes I want to grow my community, yes I want to eventually get monetized, but I can only do this if I'm consistently on the platform. So it really helps me day to day when I've decided on a posting day, to use the other days of that week to focus on filming, editing, thumbnail design etc. Now I'm like a month old new FETUS to UA-cam,😅😂so I have a longggggggggg way to go, but I'm proud of myself for finally starting, and hope that I can continue to be consistent and treat my channel like a full time job.💪 Thanks so much for this video! 🙌

It's so true about how fickle the audience is. I myself will back out of a video for many of the reasons you listed, most especially poor sound quality. Newer channels often have low volume issues, me being hard of hearing that's an immediate nope for me.
Im also a fan of Kelly Stamps, small world 🥰

I just started my UA-cam channel a little over a month ago. And I’m exhausted. It’s so scary and challenging to be vulnerable and putting yourself out there. Every other day I want to quit. I have a full-time job as an attorney in Hollywood as well as two young kids and so I work on my UA-cam videos at night between the hours of 11 PM to 2 AM and on the weekend. And I have no idea if my channel will takeoff and it’s like you to read my mind and put you into my feed today. Thank you so much for this video it was exactly what I needed to keep pushing myself and to remind myself that it takes time so hearing about your growth and the time that it took to get to 10,000 subscribers was so helpful. I really like your videos and appreciate you. Alexis, I’m sending you lots of love. ❤️❤️

I can totally relate. I decided to start a youtube channel and went out and bought a $700 camera 📷 🙃 and quickly realized i had no idea how to use it lol... that was in 2019!
I finally built up the courage to post a video last month (sept 2022) because i turned 35 and I made a primise to myself to step out of my comfort zone! And they suck so bad i havent even shared it with my family and friends! 😔 but what you said totally resonates with me. ...and giving up will only seal the fate of failure. Thanks for keeping it 💯 real

When I started my UA-cam Channel, I was so scared to tell anybody because I thought they would make fun of me or something like that.
The only person I told about it was my boyfriend and he supported me in all the ways he could.
After 5 Months and about 60 followers I started telling my family and friends and they are so proud of me and always compliment me when I post a video.
That makes me so happy and really keeps me going.
4 Months later I now have 230 followers.
And I'm so proud of myself ☺️

    Alexis,
The content I create couldn't be more different then yours. I'm in the mountains in Colorado, I make Tractor, trail camera animal, and firewood cutting videos on my acreage at 7,500' elevation. I tried a series of videos and it hasn't went well...lol The youtube journey has been ever changing, and frustrating. However I appreaciate a couple of the points that you make, I have looked at many of the growth videos and you summized it perfectly channels with hundreds of thousands of subscribers saying how easy it is. My niche is very unique it seems the channels are all huge or tiny like mine. Thank you for the tips.😊

Thanks for this great video, Alexis. And you are so right. I'm tired of all of those people who start UA-cam tips channels because it feels like those online guru's who sell courses on how to make money online and the only way they make money, is by selling you that course.
I've bought all of these things and only recently started making videos and I'm glad I did. Although those videos suck. I know. I just have to get used to being on camera. But it's also a great way to express your feelings in my opinion.

In January I did 10 days Daily Vlog challenge which helped me a lot to create a system. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND series or challenges. My dad-in-law asked one Tuesday morning if there was a new upload about her baby grand daughter. That made my day. Right now, I just post family vlogs because we want to personally consume it with friends and family. Something that we can catchup in a different way. Something that we can have fun together. So, I agree with loving youtube first before trying to make tons of money out of it

I would love to see a video on how you create your thumbnails! I feel like they are always an after thought for me and I’m never happy with how mine turn out, I also don’t put the time and effort into them that I should

First time watching your video - thank you so much for the advice. I was so close to splashing (money I don’t have!) on a camera! I’ve watched enough “how to […] UA-cam” and I think I’ll give my iPhone a try 🤞🏾
Love the words of wisdom at the end there👏🏽

I really enjoyed this video, Alexis! I found it really encouraging, and I’m happy to report that I think I’m on the right track. 🤣 The tough love bits are so important too! I love the idea of considering if you’d continue even if you got demonetized. That’s a great way of checking in with yourself. Thanks for this! 💜
P.S. Congrats on almost reaching 10K! That’s huge!

I blew up with my 3rd video and was a bit scared cuz I was so new to this and had just started posting. I haven’t been too consistent since(been hard balancing everything). But this year I’m motivated to rediscover my love for making long form content again 🙌🏽

I started a UA-cam channel almost by accident and never really thought about get monetised. However after a few years 😉 I found I had about 800 subscribers and made a real push to up my game and get to 1000. 2 years later I am approaching 2000. Its not rapid growth, but much faster than it was for a long time and I intend to keep pushing. Great video. Funny and insightful. Thanks 😀 👍

Enjoy your insight on being a UA-camr. It’s way more relatable, than say a UA-cam growth channel. Thanks, and congrats on your new milestone 👏
