While Glinda suggests using Nessa as bait to capture Elphaba, Madame Morrible is the one who murders Nessa. Madame Morrible has weather magic and is the person who conjured the tornado and brought the house to Oz. I don’t think Madame Morrible intended to bring along Dorothy, but she and Toto were just there. Of course Oz and Madame Morrible decided to make lemonade out of lemons by using Dorothy to kill Elphaba. The musical implies that Fiyero/Scarecrow knew the whole time that Elphaba couldn’t be melted by water but due to Oz’s propaganda, the population could readily accept her death that way. We know from the movie, although it’s not shown but instead heard from the sound effects, Fiyero knocks Elphaba into a brook or creek when he accidentally rides into her. He twisted the events at his own castle so “The Wicked Witch” could die and Elphaba could escape and live a normal life. The twist is that Fiyero knows exactly who the Wicked Witch is and is in love with her, but pretends to be with the rest of the group to stop them from actually killing her.
Just pointing this out as well, but Glynda is probably the only person close enough to see her cry during the Oz-dust dance, meaning she should also know water doesn't do anything.
ELPHIE WAS RIGHT! Those are family heirlooms and some RANDOM HILLBILLY GIRL KILLED YOUR SISTER WITH HER HOUSE AND STOLE YOUR MOTHERS SHOES WHAT??? (Yall mad asf over a jokey joke about Dorothy, damn learn to laugh yall and like Joey’s video)
To defend Dorothy a little bit, in the Book, she was wanting to give her the shoes out of remorse and wanted her forgiveness for what she did and she didn’t start the tornado, so idk why we’re hating her
What’s with the Dorothy hate? The poor girl didn’t mean to drop her house on Nessa, she was literally forced to Oz in a tornado that Morrible summoned. She didn’t want the shoes, they hopped on her shoes by magic (that could have been Glinda). And Dorothy was shown to be MORE than happy to just give Elphaba the shoes BUT COULDN’T BECAUSE OF A SPELL THAT SHOCKS ELPHABA! AND SHE APOLOGIZED FOR IT! ELPHABA WAS WILLING TO DROWN TOTO AND KILL DOROTHY FOR THOSE SHOES! THE POOR GIRL WAS BREAKING DOWN CRYING BECAUSE SHE WAS GOING TO DIE IF SHE DIDN’T TAKE THE SHOES OFF WHICH SHE COULD NOT!! #JusticeformygirlDorothyshedideverythingshecould
Also not to mention she’s literally in a magical world she doesn’t know, and is so desperate to get home that she’ll do what a bubble lady tells her and follow a yellow road to a man who forces her to go kill a witch just to get home😭😭
wait, the shoes were magical. elphaba used magic on the shoes to allow nessa rose to walk, so maybe the shoes HAD to be on someone alive or something and dorothy was just in the wrong place at the wrong time
My theory is scarecrow’s whole “brains” thing was just an act and he was just playing dumb so the wizard couldn’t recognize him. In fact pretty much everyone lies to us the audience/Dorthy when connecting the film to the musical.
I thought the whole joke in the film is that the scarecrow is actually quite intelligent, but doesn't realize that he already has what he wanted. This would fit in with it being an act quite well
From what I remember, in Wizard of Oz, the shoes were magically stuck to Dorothy’s feet. She actually physically couldn’t take them off. Glinda was still a jerk for giving them to her though. Also, don’t remember if the Wicked Witch actually knew that Dorothy was incapable of taking them off in the movie, so, depending on what information Elphada has, from her point of view, she is justified.
@@joelbry2103 Dorothy also offered the shoes back The Witch tries to kill Toto, but she gets electrocuted.so they're kind of stuck. at least if we're following parts of the 1930s movie. 🤔🤷♂
@@TwinRiver100 The author of the books read the original books and didn't necessarily base them off a movie. Movie's are pretty much made for whatever is popular in the moment.
To be fair, Glinda only suggested starting a rumor about Nessarose being in trouble during a moment of weakness. Though still a horrible thing to do, considering the fact that she had also used Nessarose to get Boq to leave her alone, she was naïve enough to believe that Morrible and the Wizard would only make Elphaba’s believe that Nessarose was in trouble.
Glinda is pure weakness. That is her biggest problem - she cares more about being liked by others than about doing what is good. This is not a moment of weakness since she is always weak when faced when doing what is right versus doing what will make other's like her.
What do you think of spoiling the second act of wicked? I have never seen wicked and just got into it (ive been living under rock) but im so scared where the story is gonna go, shall i spoil it whole and watch the musical and do all the research or is it better as a suprise? (Im so scared to see where the story goes 😭 i love glinda and elphabas relationship and im scared its gonna be gone completely :(
I think what Glinda did was messed up he he was messed up to he invited her to the ball he kissed her even after he started having feelings for Elphaba he still stayed with Glinda and you have to remember there’s a 5 year time jump between act 1 and act 2 so for 5 years he been playing in Glinda face
At the same time, Fiyero was quite obvious in his disinterest. That's why she had to spring the engagement. After 5 years you should clock that he has no intention to marry you. Take the L and go.
I totally agree that *Fiyero* has been playing in her face, but her subsequent actions are to harm Elphaba, not him. If Elphaba had been carrying on an affair with him during those five years then I would 10000% understand where she was coming from, but Glinda did absolutely nothing to him and goes straight to helping Morrible and the Wizard trap Elphaba, even offering up her sister to bait her. My stance is that her feelings were justified, but her actions were not. They were misdirected and she was okay with sacrificing the safety of the Animals of Oz over her (misdirected!!) feelings towards Elphaba. I don't think that's justifiable.
@@joeyiscultured Exactly! Why didn't she go after Fiyero's family and friends? Elphaba was standing there just as shocked as Glinda was when Fiyero said he was in love with Elphaba the whole time.
People keep saying they find what Glinda did with Nessa inexcusable but Nessa was basically a slave-owning dictator so I don’t see what the issue is lol. I get what people mean when they say that, but also….guys 😂😂
Yeah but they did not care that Nessarose was tyrant. They only did it to bring Elphaba pain and capture her. Glinda knows more than anyone in the cast that Elphaba would move heaven and hell for Nessarose and STILL made her a target. OVER A MAN!
@@grandempressvicky6387 Yeah that was my point! Thank you for explaining it so well :) I know Madame Morrible is *most* responsible for Nessarose's death, but Glinda gave her the idea to target Nessa because she knew how that would impact Elphaba. Glinda was justified in being upset about Fiyero of course but someone died 😭it's not as simple as "nessarose deserved it" especially when the reason she was killed wasn't because she was a dictator but because Glinda was jealous (even if her jealousy was justified!!)
important to mention that elphaba crashing out in fiyero's castle while casting that spell is the best song in the entire musical and perhaps a top 15 song from any musical ever
There's supposedly two original songs to be added into the second movie. I'm hoping it means they plan on shifting a bit from the original ending and maybe have them reunite or at least be able to aknowledge that the other one is alive and well.
I feel like they’re gonna leave it with Glinda thinking Elphie actually died. NOMTW has such a gravity to it with Glinda having to put on a brave face to the Ozians while acting like she’s not grieving her friend, and Ariana’s performance certainly makes it look like she’s holding back grief. They’re putting so much work into these movies I don’t think they would retroactively undo NOMTW, but if they do I’m curious to see how they justify it
@@billygabrielztotally dumb question, will there be a new wizard of oz adaptation after wicked part 2? i feel like they should really try to capitalize on it honestly
@@trishapaytaskitchenfloor I've already told all my friends that with half the casting and set design made, they definitely could make a remake of the Wizard of Oz film.
I actually have a theory that, in the musical, Glinda suspects that Elphaba is alive but is respecting her wishes by not trying to find her. The reason why I think this is because, even if the people of Oz are right and pure water can melt an evil witch in the Wicked universe, Glinda knows that Elphaba is good, and therefore should be able to deduce that water logically shouldn’t kill her.
It’s so stupid Dorothy gets blamed. She didn’t make the tornado and she didn’t dump the house on Nessa. She also isn’t the one that took the shoes, Glinda did it. Maybe it Elphie tried to explain it instead of threatening someone who is TWELVE in a strange land and wanting to KILL her dog this wouldn’t have happened.
You actually see Nessa Rose's father die in Part 1 of the movie! He collapses during Defying Gravity when hearing Madame Morrible's announcement. I only noticed it on my second watch
Yes! I don't think I explained myself well enough in the video. I know he's dead, but I don't think Elphaba should have blindly trusted the cause of death Nessa gave her (not that she had any reason not to trust her sister at that point of the story)
The end really diverts hard from the original Oz books to get things done..in the book the scarecrow becomes the temporary king of Oz because he's so smart..and that passes into the next book.
@@joeyisculturedJust a warning the book is VERY VERYYY full of screwed up stuff. I would look up trigger warnings to make sure there’s nothing too much. It’s certainly a book of its time. They all are.
No, the book will ruin the experience of the show. In the broadway show/movie, she is a good person. In the book, she is horribly evil and selfish. The way she mistreats her/fiyero's son is heart wretching and it is hard to see the good in her throughout the whole book. It has alot of debauchery too with too much R word. It made me ill reading the book after watching the play. Consider the broadway show/movie a disneyfied version of the book.
I love the sequel Oz books sm, they just go batshit crazy at some points (all points). My hot take is I think that ‘The Marvelous Land of Oz’ is the best Oz book. I’ll die on that hill, I love Ozma with all of my heart.
I feel like they’re gonna have the change the wizard/father reveal in the movie, cause in part 1 Glinda knows about the green bottle under Elphies pillow, so she would immediately recognise it at the wizard’s palace, instead of seeing his first and then seeing Elphie’s when she melts. This might be a set up for the movie to include Elphie finding out the wizard is her father, instead of having Glinda piece it together after Elphies ‘death’
I don't know, I'm pretty sure Glinda also knows about the bottle under Elphies pillow in the musical, that's how she knows it belonged to Elphaba's mother, I guess that just wasn't on her mind when she saw the Wizard drinking and got reminded of the bottle after the monkey gave it to her, finally conectinf the dots.
(Sorry if my grammar is bad ) so my opinion of some of the things glinda did 1. Mr.pincey stayed with her for five years all while he has feeling for elphaba so I’d be hella pissed too. And it’s totally not just a fit of rage from a high school crush at 19 2. Nessa death’s isn’t glinda’s intention. She only suggested to use nessa as a bait. And I mean this whole scenery is literally after her boyfriend of five years and is about to engage left her for her best friend. so I think it might be the root cause of her suggestion 3. I don’t think the shoes is bc of fiyero. 4.her slapping elphaba is pretty justifiable bc wdym you have been doing this behind my back for five years. And when she said “ a lot of us are taking things that don’t belong to us aren’t we” well is she wrong she’s about to be engaged.
I totally see what you're saying! But also Elphaba and Fiyero weren't cheating during that period. Elphaba's been in hiding for those five years and Glinda sprung an engagement on Fiyero that he clearly wasn't into so it isn't a situation where he is actively interested in having a life with her. I think it's really messed up that he stayed with her as long as he did knowing his heart wasn't with her so I'm definitely not saying Glinda wasn't screwed over. Howeverrr, I still don't think any of that justifies selling out Elphaba/Nessarose when she knew the stakes were the safety and freedom of the Animals. Her act of jealousy put so many Ozians in harm's way and I think minimizing the harm that was caused minimizes the complexity of her character.
The one thing that has always bothered me about Act 2 is what happened to Dr Dillamond. Like…we just see him unable to speak in the Wizard’s palace and he just wanders off is not talked about for the rest of the show. Like where did he go?! Does he ever gain his speech back?! 😭😭I hope Part 2 of the movie expands upon this and Elphaba’s animal activism
The messiness of it comes from completely straying from the book at this point, and taking out the theme of religion and politics and how it relates to the overall theme of the nature of evil. Both Elphie and Nessa’s character motivations are reduced down to their romantic interests. In the book their father becomes a religious fanatic after a traumatic experience, following a religion with pretty fascist roots (you can’t even mention the previous worshipped religion in oz anymore, because it relates to the former rulers of oz that the wizard murdered when he got there) and Nessa buys into that religious fanaticism 100 percent. She uses it to justify all of her cruelty, and has no desire for love, only obeisance. The tin man isn’t boq, hes a stranger and nessarose enchants his axe to cut off his limbs and kill him in exchange for TWO SHEEP AND A COW. Glinda was never interested in Fiyero in the book either, she marries for money and then pines after Elphaba for the rest of her life. Elphaba is literally doing political terrorism and almost blows up madame morrible in front of an orphanage of children but can’t go through with it, then finds fiyero murdered by the government and her entire life pivots to her trying to find forgiveness in fiyero’s widow Sarima for his death. I could go on and on but making the play focused on nothing but romance is what makes it such a disaster
If Madame Morrible is anything like the musical/movie, did she deserve to get almost blown up in the book? It still sounds like she is the least "wicked" person in the story. But I never read the book
@@chocolate37131 Elphaba sort of kills Morrible in the book some time later. But she's pretty much on her death bed and sort of out of it mentally. And I think Morrible pretty much dies of old age or something just before Elphaba can kill her. and I think Elphaba pretty much stabs her dead body or something. 🤔
@@TwinRiver100 I don't see anything wrong with that tbh. Morrible was...horrible to say the least (I just wanted to make that joke) but fr Morrible was a fascist, and Elphaba's heart was always in the right place, trying to do what is right. So I don't blame her
I’ve seen the play on Broadway and have heard several ppl talk about the story on UA-cam, and what I have yet to figure out is HOW THE HECK WAS THE SCARECROW SKIPPING BACK DOWN THE YELLOW BRICK ROAD WITH DOROTHY AND THE GANG BUT *ALSO* PULLING ELPHABA OUT OF A TRAP DOOR AT THE SAME TIME ?????? Even at the beginning of the film, you SEE the scarecrow headed back with Dorothy holding the broom to give to Glinda and the Wizard . So how the heck are they gonna fix that plot hole in the movie ??? I hope they find a way to do so . Because I am CONFUSION . 😅
you and me both!!! I have noooo idea lol. people are saying they're going to align more with the original book than the wizard of oz so we shall see lol but I am so very curious 😭 I rewatched the wizard of oz before filming this video to make sure i understood the timeline and it lowkey confused me even more hahahha
@@joeyiscultured I think it could be something super simple Elphaba gets melted does the whole act the main party leaves for a bit, but Fyero stays behind and tells the group to go ahead for a second like maybe he gives some kind of excuse about making sure she's dead, like he was a little bitter she almost burned him with her broom in actuality he's checking for the trap door to make sure she's ok, they make their moment quick and maybe mentions another passage way out to go without being seen. And there's probably a stable with some horses down below after that Fyero joins back up with the party and marches with the Dorothy crew back to Oz meanwhile Elphaba having gotten out without being seen, gets on a horse and rides off on a different path. and that's why we see that person in black at the start of the movie riding away from the castle while further down the road is the Dorothy crew going down the yellow brick road. Elphaba probably waited a bit until the place was cleared out before heading out and ridding off some place. I assume she and Fyero planned some kind of rendezvous point after the Dorothy group does the Emerald City stuff at least those are some of my fill in guesses from the details i remember from the start of part 1 and some fill in guesses. 🤔🤷♂ think any of that could work?
So did the Scarecrow have memory lost trying to go see the powerless wizard? Did he forget he was dating Elphaba or are they going to try to clean that up so it follows the wizard of oz…that part still doesn’t make sense to me
Right like wouldn’t the wizard recognise that Fiyero is the scarecrow as im sure his voice wouldn’t have changed or something like that or maybe it’s just a big plot whole
I hate to be the "iN tHE bOOk" person but... yeah. In the book the scarecrow is just some Munchkin guy who iirc was transformed by Nessa. I get that the Fiyero twist probably exists for the crowd to go "aww, happy ending!" but can the happy ending please make sense?
The whole ending of the musical is the biggest departure from the book because both Fiyero and Elphaba die. And the scarecrow and tin man aren’t part of the wicked (musical) story. The lion is the only one who is actually from the wicked pre story. That is if I recall correctly.
Did they ever explain in the show why Elphaba couldnt just take the shoes off of Dorothy? Just use physical force? And why Glinda wants Dorothy to wear them in the first place?
My small little theory is that because the shoes allowed nessa to walk, so the shoes allows anyone to walk without getting tired I presume (like munchkinland is like a whole train ride to emerald city if that were me I'll get upset at glinda for making me walk that far, but it was fiyero's doing to cuz he would try to stall them to help Elphie) Plus I don't think Elphie wants to damage the shoes so just traumatize the girl cuz she'll not do any good deed again part of the propaganda is that she's evil and lies, so of course cuz Dorothy believes the munchkins, she will be unwilling to give the wicked witch the powerful shoes as she could use it to destroy oz.
@@ellizkim5231That’s true, however in the original book Dorothy does try to give the shoes back but they are stuck to her feet, even in the 1939 movie Dorothy was willing to give them up to save Toto, but when Elphaba tries to touch them they burn her, she even says “I should’ve known those shoes would never come off”
Girl you ate this down lol I just watched Wicked part one and I was like I need to know the rest of this story since I've never seen the broadway play. This explanation was so good lol Thank you!
Sweet Oz! For someone who has spent part of their life in Kansas, this movie and this world just holds an important place in my heart, every winter I rewatch the 1939 wizard of oz, and I couldn’t love Wicked enough! Hands down the Film of 2024
I love this video. It’s funny because I went on Wikipedia immediately after watching the movie to find out what happens in part 2 lol I feel like me reading words or hearing a video will never give me what the actual product will not even close. So it’s like who cares if you know what’s gonna happen it still gonna be worth the watch. That’s just like watching Death Becomes Her the movie and now going to see it on broadway. You already know what happens but it’s worth watching. Or like any of these remakes. So I’m loving this take on it. Still can’t wait to see part 2 next year regardless.
Awww I'm so happy you enjoyed!!! One of my friends goes straight to wikipedia for spoilers too so that was exactly why I had the idea to make this video. I was sure a lot of people wouldn't want to wait a whole year to hear the ending. I'm so glad you were able to find this and can't wait for your final thoughts when part 2 comes out!! :)
As someone who lost a close family member and had other family members come through the house and treat it like a flea market? I completely understand why Elphaba is upset about the shoes. When you lose someone and others treat their possessions like it's just about what they can do with them? It's upsetting.
Omg, part 2 is crazy but you explained it better than anyone. You literally told us what to expect without silly theories thanks so much. Now it looks good though is it true the songs in part two are not as catchy and fun as in part 1 ? I loved part 1 got me a little obsessed. I’ve been watching many videos of some of the play checked different broadway Elphabas starting ofcourse with Idina Menzel and watched so many reviews and musical numbers though unlike other fans I do like to watch a few negative reviews. Since I do want some objectivity. I do enjoy very much reviews which tell me that not everything was perfect. I like to see reviews with good and bad aspects. Not hyperbolic reviews which say it’s a 10 everything was perfect and totally flawless that’s a big lie. But really thanks for your summary of what happens in part 2 of the show. So many channels suck at it and start telling fan theories on what they will change and their explanations just don’t make sense.
To adress the first part of the content, I disagree with what you've heard about the songs in Act 2. While the plot is messy, the act 2 songs are actually my favorite part of the soundtrack. I get why people might find them less "fun" because they're more dramatic/emotional, but I'm always way more invested in them
The reason most people say that is because act 2 songs just aren't as flashy as the ones in the first act,but they're all objectively good songs, two if them are the most beloved songs actually
@@xanecho ohh ok thanks so much. I dont know if i should listen to the second act of the broadway soundtrack right now or wait one year and go fresh to the movie theater next year and discover there the second act songs lol. But thanks for yelling me part 2 still has some great songs left.
@@sarizonanaI watched a bootleg on yt before the movie (my country rarely does wicked and it's expensive/difficult to get tickets). Especially if you're really into Wicked, a whole year is a LOT.
@@sarizonana Cosigning what others have said!! I adoreee the songs of part two, but they aren't necessarily as catchy. For Good is one of my favorite broadway songs of all time and that will be in part 2! And I am so happy you liked my video! Thank you for leaving this kind comment :)))
I’m so excited to see Jonathan Bailey and Cynthia Erivo’s version of As long as your mine. It’s one of my favourite songs from the musical and I don’t know how I’m going to wait until next November to watch it.
They need to fix what happened with the lion cub and boq and nessa Lion hating elphaba makes zero sense. Why would he hate her over her freeing him as a cub. Instead have him lose memories or something or have him be tricked into thinking elphaba harmed him rather than blame her for that specific event and flesh it out. Nessa blaming elphaba for showing her the book is also dumb. Also elphaba giving her the ability to walk? Maybe make that an accident because portraying wheel chairs as bad is just ablest. Maybe have it so elphaba purposely enchants the shoes thinking shes helping Nessa but then nessa tells her that she doesn't want this and she is sick of elphaba infantilizing her over her disability so she is mad at Elphaba for that and the whole scene is framed badly. In the musical, Nessa begs to be able to walk and its shown her being "fixed" as a positive. I want the movie to show this as a negative and have Nessa not want it. Or at the very least if she does want it then have her only have that belief due to corruption from what society has told her like she thinks she needs to be able to walk in order to run munchkin land. Boq being the Tinman and hating elphaba also makes no sense. Glinda and elphaba fighting over a man fiyero needs to change, or at least tone it down and make it more serious. Glinda causing nessa to get hurt is also played oddly In the musical. Act 2 has potential, it needs serious fixing though and should be fleshed out in the movie. also what did elphaba even do in act 2 that was evil that warranted her singing no good deed. It makes no sense, that needs to be flshed out too in the movie. And the whole animal plot too... it doesnt show any of what elphaba did and elphaba and glinda barely interact. Glinda suddenly jails morrible at the end of act 2 but like why didn't she do that before, is it because of the grim book that Elphaba gave her like Im so confused?
ALL OF THIS OMG. I love your ideas for fixes--especially regarding the ableism. I genuinely felt weird even sharing that part of the story because I hated how that scene was framed. That would be a brilliant way of re-doing that scene. My only concern is that if Elphaba has come to the conclusion that she is okay with being green, wouldn't it seem out of character for her to try to "fix" her sister? and THANK YOU! I always felt like she hadn't done enough "evil" to warrant that kind of emotional shift. I get that she's absorbing and blaming herself for her sister's death, Fiyero's harm, and Dr. Dillamond, but none of that is her fault and Dillamond would be much worse off without her advocating for him. I'm hoping there's more leading up to No Good Deed in the movie (I think there will be).
Disagree, I haven't met a single disabled person who hasn't wanted to not be disabled thats realistic. And why does Glinda, Fiyero and Elphaba need to change?
it was sooooo good!!! highly recommend. Of course it's not exactly the same as the musical, but i loved some of the choices they made that strayed from the musical (I won't spoil for you though!!). I hope you love it
Same I watched wicked play in London with my mom when I was a child and then I just saw the movie yesterday with her on her bday ✨💕 I really loved it and Cynthia did a good job as elphaba ✨ bring some tissues because there are def some emotional parts in there. Super Excited for part 2 ! 🎉 and will say the wait is intermission 😂😅
This is the first video of yours I've watched, and I was surprised to see you don't have more subscribers. It's really well-made, and I enjoyed it. Keep it up! I bet this is going to get a lot of views.
Also March of the witch hunters can’t take place at the same time as “No Good Deed” cause no good deed is where Fyiero becomes the scarecrow, and in March of the witch hunters Dorthy has already been captured. So basically it goes: - no good deed happens - most of the wizard of Oz happens - march of the witch hunters happens
Not that she is right, but fiyero did leave Glinda at the alter… not just “their party “ to (rightfully) run off with Elphaba into the forest for as long as your mine and one of the best songs ever in musical theater, no good deed.
Fantastic precap. Loved the first part of the movie, reading the book now and loosely adapted from this is putting it very lightly but the book is good too just different lol
In the original book, after the wizard leaves, the scarecrow becomes the ruler of Oz and the tin man becomes the King of the Winkies (Fiyero’s castle), I wonder if they’ll incorporate any of that in the second movie.
Dorothy is a 12 year old girl who has no control over the situation at all, she didn’t ask for kill people or for the shoes. She’s a literal child who was just trying to get home
"For Good" is gonna FUCK SO HARD. Like. We all know the reason they split the movie into 2 parts was so they didn't kill people in theatres because of Act 1's beats and then Acts 2's songs. Like we would have all died.
2:14 i think u see the governor of munchkinland fall over when madame morrible announces that elphaba is a wicked witch, so maybe he dies from a heart attack
Shouldn't it be messy, though? There would be no drama in the drama if the characters didn't make poor choices. They aren't real so no harm has been done, but there really should be some kind of conflict.
I agree with this video so much its not even funny, the fact that people unironically defend glinda getting her "best friends" SISTER killed just because her man left her is crazy (i get it, getting her killed wasnt her intention but she literally suggested putting her in danger and that wouldve been absolutely vile regardless), the fact that elphaba doesnt even get to know that glinda had a major part in getting her sister killed is so messed up too because up until their final farewell elphaba sees glinda in a positive light just imagine how elphaba wouldve reacted if she had known this, i really dont like how the play paints glinda as a good character in the end either and i think thats mostly why people are so biased to defend her its because at the end of the play shes supposed to be redeemed of everything she did but as i said, getting your friends sister killed for something so arbitrary is absolutely irredeemable in my opinion and thats not even considering everything else glinda did throughout the play
you have to understand glinda's character she's usually been given everything she wants she very privileged she not inherently magical at first but that way she commands others and some ways say even manipulate others is powerful, she talks abt in popular how peoples perception is powerful and is the whole thesis of the story who is truly wicked? is wickedness thrust upon someone or born truly wicked? The telling if to use nessa rose came HOT on the heels of fiero leaving her, and it was to make elphaba THINK she sister was in trouble not 💀, i dont think she truly wanted nessa rose dead it was just a strategy to get elphaba out if hiding and madme marble took it too far.
5:52 (Dorothy dropped her house on Nessa) wait, didn't Madame Morrible create the tornado that picked up Dorothy's house and that led to it dropping on Nessa? Dorothy was an unintended side effect character that got roped into this accidentally. i get that you were making a gag with the whole Hillbilly house drop thing 😆👍, don't worry also i think Dorothy tried giving the shoes back in the movie, the book and in the Wicked book form, but couldn't quite get them off wait, I think it the book, The Witch tripped Dorothy and knocked off one of the shoes and in the process of trying to get the other one, ticked off Dorothy and she splashed her with a bucket of water and the witch ended up melting, with Dorothy not realizing it would do that.
I'm hoping so because a lot of the plotholes have to do with limited time in the play version, so they'll be able to correct a lot of them for the movie. Fingers crossed!!!
bruh u really put that into perspective about nessas shoes like.... a house got dropped on her and she died. and the shoes is all elphie has left of her sis. bro when u said that I cried too lol
Im just gagged that people dont hold the people of oz/munckinland more accountable for their WICKEDNESS and the THRUSTING of good and evil upon people . Obviously, society created these barrels , boxes and cages but its "we the people" who uphold and empower these vile stereotypes
I just seen the movie last night it’s pretty Damm good give it 10 out of 10 love the chemistry of the 2 witches that carry this movie didn’t feel the length of the movie
And I had problems with the first movie due to its massive changes from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz novel. I’ll have to skip the second movie. Or else I’ll be saying “oh, come on! That’s not what really happened!” The whole time. Yes, I’m “that guy”. I’m still not over what they did to Jurassic park.
When going back to watch The Wizard of Oz, it's important to remember what we learned in Wicked: ... the Scarecrow and the Wicked Witch of the West f*cked.
What are you most excited to see in Wicked Part 2?

I’m excited to see the March of the witch hunters!
So, Melissa Bode said that changes were made to Nessa wanting to be fixed so I can't wait to see what happens.
For Good
While Glinda suggests using Nessa as bait to capture Elphaba, Madame Morrible is the one who murders Nessa.

@@NyikoDoris HAHAHA
To defend Dorothy a little bit, in the Book, she was wanting to give her the shoes out of remorse and wanted her forgiveness for what she did and she didn’t start the tornado, so idk why we’re hating her
@@baalgodofrainshe had those custom red bottoms strapped in faster than Elphaba could sing “it’s meeeee”

I CANNOT ☠☠☠
Movies need to keep up with the times.
My theory is scarecrow’s whole “brains” thing was just an act and he was just playing dumb so the wizard couldn’t recognize him. In fact pretty much everyone lies to us the audience/Dorthy when connecting the film to the musical.
This was the only head cannon that got me through the ending.
Glinda tells her not take them off otherwise she will be killed. This implies that The House Dropping Hussy could’ve taken the stolen shoes off.
I noticed the lighting in your background. I love spoilers. Nothing can take away from seeing something yourself.
I'm so glad you noticed!!! and oooh I never thought about spoilers that way. That just revolutionized my brain lolllll
I always seek spoilers mainly to make sure I don't miss anything but it's never ruined the experience or the way I feel when I see it myself.
Hard agree
depends on the spoiler
What do you think of spoiling the second act of wicked? I have never seen wicked and just got into it (ive been living under rock) but im so scared where the story is gonna go, shall i spoil it whole and watch the musical and do all the research or is it better as a suprise? (Im so scared to see where the story goes 😭 i love glinda and elphabas relationship and im scared its gonna be gone completely :(
I think what Glinda did was messed up he he was messed up to he invited her to the ball he kissed her even after he started having feelings for Elphaba he still stayed with Glinda and you have to remember there’s a 5 year time jump between act 1 and act 2 so for 5 years he been playing in Glinda face
agreed, glinda has her faults absolutely but she was screwed over in that relationship.
You’re right! The guy was a player too.
Bock didn't deserve to be Tin Man. No amount of "karma" from the way he treated Nessa doesn't justify what Nessa did to him.
He became a tin man because Elphaba tried to save him
He either dies or Elphaba use a spell to save him. Remember, Elphaba can't fully understand what she's casting.
Yeah, that was a very out of left field hot take. Dude was no innocent bean, but calling this karma is... a yikes
People keep saying they find what Glinda did with Nessa inexcusable but Nessa was basically a slave-owning dictator so I don’t see what the issue is lol. I get what people mean when they say that, but also….guys 😂😂
Also, Glinda may be responsible for Nessa's death, but she didn’t necessarily intend it. Madame Morrible cast the spell that actually killed her.
Well apparently Madame Morrible made the tornado, but yeah Glinda using Nessa as bait to bring Elphaba out was pretty jacked up.
It's the bigger picture that matters,if her plan worked then not only elphaba but all animals would've been doomed
Glinda was justified in being upset about Fiyero of course but someone died 😭it's not as simple as "nessarose deserved it" especially when the reason she was killed wasn't because she was a dictator but because Glinda was jealous (even if her jealousy was justified!!)
important to mention that elphaba crashing out in fiyero's castle while casting that spell is the best song in the entire musical and perhaps a top 15 song from any musical ever
agreed, That scene will be just so good! I am incredibly curious in how they will film the “as long as your mine” scene too.
i love how relaxed and paced this video is it feels like a sleepover gossip session
I kinda wish Glinda knew Elphaba wasn’t dead and that they were all in it together and she just has to play her part and act like she’s dead
THAT IS MY FAVORITE EASTER EGG FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEEN THE SHOW
The end really diverts hard from the original Oz books to get things done..in the book the scarecrow becomes the temporary king of Oz because he's so smart..and that passes into the next book.
WHAT omg i had no idea. do you think the book is worth reading before part 2 comes out?
Guys the comment was talking about the Oz books, not Wicked Years
I love the sequel Oz books sm, they just go batshit crazy at some points (all points).
@@mariatorres-by6du exactly that^
How could he be her father? Isn’t he black?
The race of the actress and elphabas skin color (green) are completely unrelated. In the musical the wizard is her father.
The line in the movie where glinda takes out the bottle is straight from the musical.
8:00 not a hot take. Boq is the WORST "nice guy."
(Sorry if my grammar is bad ) so my opinion of some of the things glinda did
1. Mr.pincey stayed with her for five years all while he has feeling for elphaba so I’d be hella pissed too. And it’s totally not just a fit of rage from a high school crush at 19
2. Nessa death’s isn’t glinda’s intention. She only suggested to use nessa as a bait. And I mean this whole scenery is literally after her boyfriend of five years and is about to engage left her for her best friend. so I think it might be the root cause of her suggestion
Her act of jealousy put so many Ozians in harm's way and I think minimizing the harm that was caused minimizes the complexity of her character.

hahahahha welcome!!! I'm glad you made it over here :)
This is why im glad the movie is taking things slower.
yessss there's sooo much story in act 2 shoved into like 40 mins. I'm so happy the movie will give them to flesh this out and address the plotholes

@@joeyiscultured I think it could be something super simple
Elphaba gets melted does the whole act
the main party leaves for a bit, but Fyero stays behind and tells the group to go ahead for a second
like maybe he gives some kind of excuse about making sure she's dead, like he was a little bitter she almost burned him with her broom
in actuality he's checking for the trap door to make sure she's ok, they make their moment quick and maybe mentions another passage way out to go without being seen.
And there's probably a stable with some horses down below
after that Fyero joins back up with the party and marches with the Dorothy crew back to Oz
meanwhile Elphaba having gotten out without being seen, gets on a horse and rides off on a different path.
and that's why we see that person in black at the start of the movie riding away from the castle while further down the road is the Dorothy crew going down the yellow brick road. Elphaba probably waited a bit until the place was cleared out before heading out and ridding off some place.
I assume she and Fyero planned some kind of rendezvous point after the Dorothy group does the Emerald City stuff
at least those are some of my fill in guesses from the details i remember from the start of part 1 and some fill in guesses. 🤔🤷♂
think any of that could work?
Possibly Spoilers from what I remember
In the wicked book fyero is not the scarecrow
So did the Scarecrow have memory lost trying to go see the powerless wizard? Did he forget he was dating Elphaba or are they going to try to clean that up so it follows the wizard of oz…that part still doesn’t make sense to me
Right like wouldn’t the wizard recognise that Fiyero is the scarecrow as im sure his voice wouldn’t have changed or something like that or maybe it’s just a big plot whole
I hate to be the "iN tHE bOOk" person but... yeah. In the book the scarecrow is just some Munchkin guy who iirc was transformed by Nessa.
I get that the Fiyero twist probably exists for the crowd to go "aww, happy ending!" but can the happy ending please make sense?
well I get your point but the stage was adapted to give us a happy ending that’s why it’s like that as the book would be too graphic for the audience
@@split776 Isn't that Nick Chopper aka the Tin Man that was transformed by Nessa though? Though I agree with the rest.
I think they say they're magically bounded to her feet, but we don't know why Glinda gave them to her (not even on the original book)
@Marinlss that's weird
My small little theory is that because the shoes allowed nessa to walk, so the shoes allows anyone to walk without getting tired I presume (like munchkinland is like a whole train ride to emerald city if that were me I'll get upset at glinda for making me walk that far, but it was fiyero's doing to cuz he would try to stall them to help Elphie) Plus I don't think Elphie wants to damage the shoes so just traumatize the girl cuz she'll not do any good deed again
part of the propaganda is that she's evil and lies, so of course cuz Dorothy believes the munchkins, she will be unwilling to give the wicked witch the powerful shoes as she could use it to destroy oz.
@@ellizkim5231 that makes sense tbh
@@ellizkim5231That’s true, however in the original book Dorothy does try to give the shoes back but they are stuck to her feet, even in the 1939 movie Dorothy was willing to give them up to save Toto, but when Elphaba tries to touch them they burn her, she even says “I should’ve known those shoes would never come off”

As someone who lost a close family member and had other family members come through the house and treat it like a flea market? I completely understand why Elphaba is upset about the shoes. When you lose someone and others treat their possessions like it's just about what they can do with them? It's upsetting.
Poor Dorothy didn't realize the mess she landed herself in 😂
Omg, part 2 is crazy but you explained it better than anyone.

Oh man like you wouldn't believe. And if the movie nailed the landing of the first part then I can only imagine how they'll top it off in the second
They need to fix what happened with the lion cub and boq and nessa
Lion hating elphaba makes zero sense.
I bet they'll fix it in the next movie
Disagree, I haven't met a single disabled person who hasn't wanted to not be disabled thats realistic. And why does Glinda, Fiyero and Elphaba need to change?
I always want a happy ending. I know how everything goes but somehow i want things to end up better for Elphie and Glinda.
i know exactly what you mean!!! it's such a heartbreaking ending if they keep it like the musical and even worse if they make it like the book
I haven’t seen the movie yet but I saw wicked as a child and AHHHHHHHHH I’m so excited
it was sooooo good!!! highly recommend.
I’ve only seen wicked 3 time once on broadway and twice in the theatres and now Im actually obsessed with this whole story I need part 2 now 😤
They should have left that lion cub to suffer so he could "learn to fight his own battles". Ungrateful little snot ball
my jaw dropped when i saw that. Like wdym he's cowardly because of that??? you have to be joking
@@joeyisculturedno good deed goes unpunished
This is the first video of yours I've watched, and I was surprised to see you don't have more subscribers. It's really well-made, and I enjoyed it. Keep it up! I bet this is going to get a lot of views.
This is so sweet omg I just teared up
Also March of the witch hunters can’t take place at the same time as “No Good Deed” cause no good deed is where Fyiero becomes the scarecrow, and in March of the witch hunters Dorthy has already been captured. So basically it goes:
- no good deed happens
- most of the wizard of Oz happens
- march of the witch hunters happens
I feel like they're definitely going to have to greatly overhaul act 2
Not that she is right, but fiyero did leave Glinda at the alter… not just “their party “ to (rightfully) run off with Elphaba into the forest for as long as your mine and one of the best songs ever in musical theater, no good deed.
Fantastic precap. Loved the first part of the movie, reading the book now and loosely adapted from this is putting it very lightly but the book is good too just different lol
i am SO curious to see how jon m chu is gonna explain the passage of time to make every event make sense.
I hope this sequel isn't a prequel to The Wizard of Oz (1939), these stories have drastically different messages and the characters are too different.
I went to high school with the and they were roommates girl lol
that's so cool omg i wonder how long it was viral before she found out about it lol
@ I wonder this all the time!
I’ve seen it 3 times. I fell asleep the first 2 times.
Tbh I’m so excited to see what they do with Part 2 since they get all the time they need to tell the story, because I actually dislike Part 2 onstage.
Elphaba is constantly forgiving glindah......
"For Good" is gonna FUCK SO HARD. Like. We all know the reason they split the movie into 2 parts was so they didn't kill people in theatres because of Act 1's beats and then Acts 2's songs. Like we would have all died.
EXACTLY. they're going to have to wheel me out in a gurney after For Good/NOMTW finale
2:14 i think u see the governor of munchkinland fall over when madame morrible announces that elphaba is a wicked witch, so maybe he dies from a heart attack
Wow, you got me excited to see Wicked, and I haven’t even seen the first act yet
I didn’t see the wicked movie but i love act 2 of the broadway musical so maybe I’ll see wicked part two to make sure they do that part right
Shouldn't it be messy, though? There would be no drama in the drama if the characters didn't make poor choices. They aren't real so no harm has been done, but there really should be some kind of conflict.
Oh I was saying that it was messy as a positive! I hate boring narratives lol. I find the story of part 2 much more interesting than part 1 tbh
Oh my gosh they could really do continuation films if they wanted to. I’d love to see the story continue
I would think that Glinda of all people would understand obsessing over a pair of shoes.
cute lighting, good audio 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Thank you so much!!! :)))
@ you're welcome 🙏🏾
Wicked should have a colab with Grindr to make Glindr 😂
You ate this
I’m glad we are agreed Fiyero is our man
5:55 “Was that necessary?” Yes and MORE!!!!!
Okay pink and green lights!!
algorithm sent me here!! Subbing!
thank you for this!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed!! :)
How much yall wanna bet she was talking about wicked otp in that vine😗
you’re so funny shsjdjdmfkfk i had to sub after the glinder part
you have to understand glinda's character she's usually been given everything she wants she very privileged she not inherently magical at first but that way she commands others and some ways say even manipulate others is powerful, she talks abt in popular how peoples perception is powerful and is the whole thesis of the story who is truly wicked? is wickedness thrust upon someone or born truly wicked?
The telling if to use nessa rose came HOT on the heels of fiero leaving her, and it was to make elphaba THINK she sister was in trouble not 💀, i dont think she truly wanted nessa rose dead it was just a strategy to get elphaba out if hiding and madme marble took it too far.
CHALLENGERS PIC KILLED ME
5:52 (Dorothy dropped her house on Nessa)
wait, didn't Madame Morrible create the tornado that picked up Dorothy's house and that led to it dropping on Nessa?
Dorothy was an unintended side effect character that got roped into this accidentally.
i get that you were making a gag with the whole Hillbilly house drop thing 😆👍, don't worry
also i think Dorothy tried giving the shoes back in the movie, the book and in the Wicked book form, but couldn't quite get them off
wait, I think it the book, The Witch tripped Dorothy and knocked off one of the shoes and in the process of trying to get the other one, ticked off Dorothy and she splashed her with a bucket of water and the witch ended up melting, with Dorothy not realizing it would do that.
I wonder if they're willing to change the second act things that doesn't make sense.
I'm hoping so because a lot of the plotholes have to do with limited time in the play version, so they'll be able to correct a lot of them for the movie. Fingers crossed!!!
9:10 paused needs to be a meme 😂
You keep saying Dorothy dropped the house on Nessa like she did it on purpose 💀💀💀
I had never clocked before that Nessarose might have something to do with her dad death !
I was more so saying I don't necessarily believe he died of "embarassment" like Nessa said, buttt....she is definitely wicked enough lol
“Remove my red bottoms…they belong…to me”
Sent me to the moon
bruh u really put that into perspective about nessas shoes like.... a house got dropped on her and she died. and the shoes is all elphie has left of her sis. bro when u said that I cried too lol
How can Dorothy give up the shoes if she’d have to die to give them up
Idc what anyone says, Elphaba was absolutely right.
Also if nessarose has no haters I am DEAD and BURIED.
You summed up act 2 perfectly. I can’t wait to see what it’s like on the big screen next year. 🩷💚
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked the video 💚
Watching anyway because I reach the capacity of my watch later list
Im just gagged that people dont hold the people of oz/munckinland more accountable for their WICKEDNESS and the THRUSTING of good and evil upon people . Obviously, society created these barrels , boxes and cages but its "we the people" who uphold and empower these vile stereotypes
I HATED Nessarose in both act 1 and act 2. Honestly, if I were Elphaba I would have commended Dorthy for dropping that house on her
I just seen the movie last night it’s pretty Damm good give it 10 out of 10 love the chemistry of the 2 witches that carry this movie didn’t feel the length of the movie
Idk why Galinda doesn’t help Fiyero when the guards are torturing him..what’s her excuse!
Best explanation ❤
I hope they have the slippers red in act 2
9:14 My male friends have pointed this out to me because it's literally my name irl😭
8:35 this woman is almost Crying because of Some Js😢
How is the wizard banished if he already left on the balloon? Is the timeline of everything explained
When going back to watch The Wizard of Oz, it's important to remember what we learned in Wicked:
... the Scarecrow and the Wicked Witch of the West f*cked.
Following the book subtext, so did the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch.
Dorothy just landed in a very messy love triangle.
I've said it before: Wicked ruins The Wizard of Oz
