Sal, As always brother you bring a smile to my face....your awesome man. I love how you show your talent and the fact that you can tell you really enjoy playing. Blessings my brother!!!!!
I get this question every week and so you'll find the answer on my channel page, just Google that for the price. Please note that I'm triggering a kit from Addictive Drums, that's why it sounds good.
Thanks a lot. Yea, that's the way I used to play in the clubs, and then the band would come after that fill and end on a crescendo chord. Good to hear from London, a favorite city of mine.
I'm always pleased to know that my videos serve other drummers. In the video's description it is listed: Triggered a kit from Addictive Drums. Probably a kit I modified from their ADpak-Retro release. I rarely ever use the sounds from the V-Drums, but prefer triggering sounds of samples of real acoustic drums. I find that the V-Drums sound too fake, cold, & metallic sounding. When I do use the V-Drum module I use the sounds/settings purchased from VExpression. Thanks
Sal, you look so cool with the hat and shades, I don't know how this one got passed me. Awesome playing as always, love the ending as well. I've played this one in many bands and we ended it that same way lol. : ))
Sal, Another great cover man!! 85% of the covers you do I love and played air drums to them when I was younger, were do you get the time to do so many of them so soon. love your berry and specs.
I have the TD-12KX as well. What trigger are you using? Or did you customize this sound with the V-Edit feature? I've found that in order to attain the cymbal expression needed for playing live Rock & Roll, it helps to go into the inside mix and bring all the cymbals up to full and bring the drums and kick down to 85 and then simply raise the volume output. Is this what you are doing? Your sound is dialed in nicely. Nice groove also. I used this clip as a tutorial reference.
nicely done. i enjoyed watching.. and learned a few things. lol. just got myself an electric kit. im a guitar player.. no nothing about drums but your video helped alot. thanks for making it.
@FL50DRUMR Thanks Ed, glad to be of help. I like your cover of it, great video production too. I dig the drumming community here on YT, Nick's a great player.
I highly recommend AD, (XLN Audio) it's inexpensive, easy to use and sounds great & responds well. Let me know if you have any questions in how to trigger it. On my channel is listed the details of equipment used.
Addictive Drums?? Interesting! Never heard of it. I am new to Electric Drums. I'll have to start Googling that and see how I can incorporate it into the V-Drum. Thanks!
What kit is this and how much does it cost (if you don't mind my asking)? I'll be in the market for some electronic drums in the near future and these sound pretty sweet...
@Czagio2006 Thanks, always glad to see my videos serving other drummers. It's a Roland V-Drum TDW-20 module w/TD-12 pads and VH-12 hi-hat triggering Addictive Drums software.
Great job mate! look, would be possible to get just your drums on a mp3? im building a backing track isolating each instrument to use with my band when the some of the folks cannot rehearse. Thanks in advance
It's essentially a TD-12 kit with a TDW-20 module and a VH-12 hi-hat with an 2 extra cymbals and a 1 additional drum pad. Thanks so much for checking it out.
Thank you and glad to know that my videos help. 99% of the song covers are using the original release which has drums, I'm not using drumless tracks. Keep drumming!!!
Awesome, love your vids. Great selection of songs and extremely well played. I am finding them very helpful too, as I'm newbee to drumming. Where do you get your drumless tracks from?
@robjking1 Thanks Rob. Yea, me too, played many times in the bar scene. I try to get into the mood of the vibe of the song and add some entertainment since my videos are visually boring being just one camera angle. Yea, it just makes sense to end it that way. I recently covered Magic Carpet Ride too from this band. Thanks so much as always for checking out the videos.
Everytime I hear this song I think of a movie called "Fandango" where this crazy guy is flying a beat up cessna. When hes close to his destination he uses the interstate to land on gets off at the closest exit.
Came across your cover of "Pretty Women" by chance and just had to check out your other covers. Thoroughly enjoyed them, especially your choice of songs. I am a little jealous though - Muscle & nerve damage put a fast end to my drumming (Thank you Vietnam - NOT!). Keep up the great work - I just subscribed to your channel.
Thanks for checking out my covers and for serving in Nam. Sorry to learn about your disability. My dad dragged me down to the Air Force recruiter when I was 17 years old to keep me out of Nam's jungles and I'm thankful he did.
@patrickpleau Yes, those FM tunes are good ones. I covered Gypsy, have you seen it? FM tunes tend to get blocked on YT due to copyright infringement, but I found a way to unblock Gypsy.
@patrickpleau Thanks so much. If you're in the SF Bay Area, I would consider it. ELO's sound is too processed for my taste. Billy J, I haven't thought of covering his stuff even though I've played some of it in cover bands. It's Still R n' R To Me, would be a good one. Thanks for checking out my channel.
Well yes, once playing a musical instrument becomes a natural function, one could pay attention to other things, such as look around and see what the other musicians onstage are playing. I studied classical guitar and my teacher taught that one should be able to read the newspaper while playing the guitar. Thanks for checking out the cover.
+rhythmantic - Sal D'Amato "Excuse me, young man in the black hat, could you please not look at me while you're making all those violent motions, and doing all that hitting you're doing in there? I'm trying to have a lovely day." - Thanks - Mrs. Miller
Never noticed this video until now but boy do I have a story, My aunt was originally gonna open for the band that is essentially Steppenwolf (they cant play under that name because of legal stuff) but their singer was kicked out so now basically, my aunt is the singer of Steppenwolf! nice shades, I gotta get me some of those.......
+LFS Sverige If you're referring to the ride subdivision, it's 1/4 notes - just as I played it. Try it using 16th, it sounds weird and looses that cool driving beat. Thanks so much for checking it out.
@MusicIsDeadToday John Lennon shades (Amazon.com). Interesting comment, just this afternoon I covered "Strange Days" and "Love Me Two Times", isn't that amazing!?
Simplemente extraordinario, muy simple y muy buena manera de tocar, me encanto, un abrazo desde Argentina!!
By far the best cover drummer on the tube. IMHO!
Sal, As always brother you bring a smile to my face....your awesome man. I love how you show your talent and the fact that you can tell you really enjoy playing. Blessings my brother!!!!!
Thanks a lot, appreciate it. And you keep drumming, you have a the groove and feel for drums.
I get this question every week and so you'll find the answer on my channel page, just Google that for the price. Please note that I'm triggering a kit from Addictive Drums, that's why it sounds good.

Me too.
One of my favorites, thanks!

Thank you Ken, it's much appreciated.
@FL50DRUMR Thanks Ed, glad to be of help. I like your cover of it, great video production too. I dig the drumming community here on YT, Nick's a great player.
@rynexmkIII Was your dad Jerry Edmonton, the drummer with Steppenwolf?
right on! thanks, you too, keep rockin'!
great job bro keep rocking!!!!!!1
@therailwizard1994 I know some basic chords, but no, I use for triggering loops or laying down a bass line.
I swear, I think there are 2 people who've I've upset for calling them on their b.s. who follow my video uploads and always hit the "dislike".
I highly recommend AD, (XLN Audio) it's inexpensive, easy to use and sounds great & responds well. Let me know if you have any questions in how to trigger it. On my channel is listed the details of equipment used.
Love the accent pillows, lovely

@mrbeigan Cool, thanks as always, glad you liked it. I have time to play, all day on Mondays, Fridays & Saturdays, with most evenings available too.

The movie I associate this song with is “Easy Rider”. Thank you for checking out the video.

great job. i like the hat and glasses, makes you look like a cross between John Lennon and Brian Johnson of AC/DC.
you Were a Badass man! Nailed it!! btw i love your sun glasses! What are they called.
Thanks! John Lennon sunglasses- on Amazon for $4
I look how you can look out the window while you are playing. "Hi Mrs. Miller! lovely day isn't it?"
Well yes, once playing a musical instrument becomes a natural function, one could pay attention to other things, such as look around and see what the other musicians onstage are playing. @jaymatt1978 Thank you, appreciate you checking it out.
@Sergio1956flor Thanks. That song is not on my to-do list of about 200 songs to cover, perhaps after completing my list I may cover it.
You make it look so easy! Another suggestion - what about doing Fortunate Son by CCR?
Nice!
You are very kind, thank you and thanks for subbing too.
@iceydanpowns Cool, thanks. I'm triggering samples of acoustic drums recording in actual working recording studios.
Totally concur.
@b0njov1 Thanks. Actually the sunglasses as marketed as "John Lennon" type.
One question, isn't it 16 beat in this song? :) by the way great performance! ;)
+LFS Sverige If you're referring to the ride subdivision, it's 1/4 notes - just as I played it. Try it using 16th, it sounds weird and looses that cool driving beat. Thanks so much for checking it out.
Okey! :) no problem, worth a sub! :)
@MusicIsDeadToday John Lennon shades (Amazon.com). Interesting comment, just this afternoon I covered "Strange Days" and "Love Me Two Times", isn't that amazing!?
hey sal having a little trouble with the quarter note pulse any suggestions thanks
Yes, play & practice with a metronome, using different tempos until your right on it and comfortable.
No I haven't.
is that a td 15k, awesome cover btw loved it
what kinda of drum set is that? how much did it cost?
well thank you Shane.
That's The One!!!!
Nice cover man :)
@rhythmantic I thought it was odd too, but she sings very similar to Janis Joplin so it isn't too big of a stretch.
@Ferflaco1 Muchas gracias!
@patrickpleau It's on my channel, it's one of my videos.
@metallkrik Thank you.
Great
Thanks fellas.
Thanks. That's how we used to end the song in the clubs.
