Why is it that in the U.S. a drug offense will still get you more time than an act of violence? 33 months is only 2.75 years. Last year a guy tried to steal my motorcycle, failed and was caught. Turns out he was wanted for other things as well. ( Drug offences) There was a plea deal struck he got 7 years.
He was profiled driving while black but not speeding as was the stated probable cause to begin the pursuit. Notice they were meticulous in including all the police camera footage except the "100 miles in a 35 mile speed limit" reason for probable cause? "100 miles in a 35 mile speed limit" implies they were in a radar speed trap op where they would have had the speed gun data superimposed on the video.
He was charged with speeding, but that is a civil offence not a criminal one. And we see people driving way to fast in that area all the time, and police are constantly pulling them over. Doing 5 over and getting pulled over. maybe then you can claim profiling, but anything over 10 is a ticket and you will get nailed no matter your color. On top of that he did not have a license. If you are going to break the law, you do not break more laws that will get you caught.
I am thinking because he was going 100 in a 35. In hindsight, that rookie cop could have ran into the suvs front tire when he was making that u-turn in the cul-de-sac at the beginning, possibly disabling it, but that's just me thinking from my couch position.🤔
I don’t get why they are not allowed to use any possible means to stop the vehicle ASAP, even if that means life threatening injuries for the driver as long as they can keep civilians safe.
Because police arent judge, jury, or executioner. The cop performing the chase even questioned why they were pursuing him over speeding. The truth is these children would never have been injured if they stopped pursuing when the lunatic was blowing stop signs at 80+ with another pair of lunatic cops driving recklessly behind him. Its a blessing there wasnt a sudden T-bone collision with the amount of reckless endangerment going on. Yes, the police were contributing to the danger of the public, which is why they changed their policy
@ Well, they should be totally jury and enforcers. If a lunatic is driving at 50+ mph in a residential area the police should be able to judge that that creates an incredible danger to innocents so they should be able to even blow that car to prevent any innocent people from getting hurt.
For those blaming the sentencing judge for the relatively light sentence the convict received, blame the politicians who created the sentences, the prosecutors who prefer plea bargains to actually prosecuting suspects, and yourselves for having elected both. Yes, the suspect deserves way more than the 2.75-year sentence he received, but judges have had their authority to sentence those convicted by your elected officials and prosecutors.
You could hear the one officer, who was probably in training, question why they were chasing someone doing 80-90 in neighborhoods. That pursuit should have been terminated. He was new so he was only obeying orders. I'll bet he has nightmares to this day.
Nuh uh 33 months is bullshit that should've been 3 attempted vehicular manslaughter charges, fleeing and alluding, damage to property, a separate ticket for every stop sign he ran, driving without a licens, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving. This dude needs a minimum of 20 years
I wonder if the parents of those injured kids were able to sue the criminal's family for damages? That would be a Plot Twist for criminals and their loved ones.
Ego is what caused this tragedy. Even the police driving was asking what was the reason for the pursuit. He wasn't even sure the chase was legit. But if you listen carefully, you can hear the thin blue line arguments coming in. 🤫🤔

Florida has done what you're asking for; so, they follow at a distance, and the perp still manages to kill people.
All ways blame the police in mn
@@Hondabill near start they were told to call it (stop chase) the passenger cop kept saying to catch up. At one point the driving cop even asked why their pursuing and what he did to make them have to pursue to which the passenger likely higher ranking power and adrenaline hungry cop said "speeding that's all you know"
He should have got 33 years but this state is down right insanely light on criminals.
Because it’s racist to keep the usual suspects in jail while they steal more cars cause more problems, cause our insurance to go up.
Sorry but the city should be paying every DIME of those babies medical bills for ANYTHING related to this.
State Patrol
33 months?? How about life with no parole
The partner had a valid question "Why are we pursuing just for speeding?" Honestly, the reason the kids got hit is because a Cop decided to go on a high speed chase, all around town, putting lives in danger just because the driver was speeding. Now don't think for a minute that I am anti Cop. I support the men in blue BUT this should have never happened just because someone was speeding.
Exactly
OMG!!! Only 33 months in prison!!! Now that's a slap on the hand..now everyone forget about young innocent kids got hurt because of this POS bottom feeder. He deserves a longer prison sentence and having to pay for the hospital bills for the kids that he hurt in this Chase. Glad that no officer's were hurt. And I wish the kid has a quick recovery..
Drug offenses dont really get the sentencing they got 20 years ago.. If they did guys like this wouldn't be on the streets.
No surprise.
5:16 the driver had a feeling it was not a good idea to keep pursuing
Smart officer, weighing the risks. I commend him
Minnesota is known for their slaps on the wrist
@@jeraldbottcher1588going 20 over is wreckless driving which is a criminal offense.
ASP : -spits- "Amateurs"
Ha😂❤!
I think 25 years would have been more appropriate.
He deserved 3 consecutive life sentences with no chance of parole...
Only after Trump and all of MAGA are
Garbage justice system!
Such a disgrace, thankfully I don't live in Minnesota!
Why didn't the police just back off if they had the car make/license plate on their dash cams and pick him up later?
I am thinking because he was going 100 in a 35. In hindsight, that rookie cop could have ran into the suvs front tire when he was making that u-turn in the cul-de-sac at the beginning, possibly disabling it, but that's just me thinking from my couch position.🤔
What are we doing driving 100 miles an hour at residential to stop somebody for speeding.
I don’t understand while vehicle related crimes are downsized. This guy should get something that doesn’t start until 10 years.
I thought he got 33 years, absolutely disgusting the judge who let him off so lightly. 😢
33 months? is this a joke?
Let him out and have him live next door to the judge.
I gotta get the $^& out of this state... 33 months, pathetic.
There were chances to PIT at slower speed he just didn't take them & his partner kept contradicting himself what to do
A 33 degree you know what gave him that sentence
“Too fast to pit” is like saying “I’m too hungry to eat”
No it’s not
@@999waves there is no such thing as “too fast to pit”
@@999wavesno, it is... pits at higher speeds have greater effect on the vehicle that gets pitted.
This dude needs a minimum of 20 years
Well what do ya know.... I won't say a word.
feral human
I wonder if the parents of those injured kids were able to sue the criminal's family for damages?
That would be a Plot Twist for criminals and their loved ones.
Ego is what caused this tragedy. Even the police driving was asking what was the reason for the pursuit. He wasn't even sure the chase was legit. But if you listen carefully, you can hear the thin blue line arguments coming in. 🤫🤔
ComeOnMan..... 33 months, what a joke. Should have gotten life.
