BlackBerry: hey you wanna come unbox our new phone all inclusive trip to newyork Linus: yeah sure great, "whats up everyone today we have the phone no one asked for" BlackBerry: ......
It was disrespectful, but it was honest. Would you rather Linus lied and said the phone was awesome, then you bought it and was disappointed, or that he was honest and you bought it knowing what you were buying.
It wasn't sponsored. They just sent him the phone and he didn't even promise to make the video. Pretty much everything you see in LTT they got for free except for their actual office equipment.
I guess its kinda like what Volvo is to Swedish people. Sometimes you just want a phone, that looks nice and just works, and works nicely. Sometimes you just want a smartphone, and that phone is it, just a smartphone. No wonky features that barely work, no overheating brand new CPU, no bloated android install, no forced "Super ComCast deluxe ultra browser and messenger" thats uninstallable. Its just awesome at being average, and that is fine!
yup. I've been rockin' a priv for awhile, and it just always works. Doesn't freeze up in cold weather, doesn't overheat, runs fast enough, has a headphone jack, the battery lasts all day with mixed use - just totally problem free.
The only thing i like to brag about is my gigabit internet that costs $40 a month cause im Swedish and laugh at silly america with their backwards strifing copper grid they call internet. People like understated things as well. It has good performance, what is bad performance in a phone? Cant run a game at 60FPS? Some people dont care about games on phones.. I mean hell my Lian Li V2120X doesnt look like something you brag about, its just nice. I dont brag about my phone either, or my car, or anything.
I used the Priv for a year and gave up on it. I guess every users experience is different, but my Priv barely ever worked. Super laggy, buggy, slow, ran hot all the time and even though the battery life was pretty decent at the start, it degraded extremely quickly
The whole point of SI units is that they're interchangeable. You can save yourself a second of your life by dropping the thousand and the milli and it still means the same thing. We aren't converting pounds to kilograms or Celsius to Fahrenheit. There are no calculations involved. I'm just trying to say that there is no need to dither on about four thousand thousandths of an amp hour. Just four amp hours will do.
I would actually buy stuff like these if they aren't overpriced. These stuff cost nearly as much as oneplus 5t. With a SD 625 processors...... And less aesthetic, slower charge speed
I wasn't contemplating upgrading from my dtek50, but you might have just convinced me... Their productivity apps are unbeatable tbh, their calendar is a life saver for me It would be nice if they first party engineered a phone again, but if they can replicate the feel of their older phones, then hey, go for it! A lot of the people still on BB10 are waiting for devices that will get them to move off it, and its unlikely another company will do that. Many Passport users are waiting for some clunky android brick no one wants. That said, after using a z10 (that I made myself from harvested perfect condition parts from dirt cheap dead phones), I've never been able to go back to a non blackberry device. I miss some of the BB10 features, but I happily use the Blackberry first party stuff actively 90% of the time I have my phone open. Just give me another phone whose physical design is engineered by RIM please.
You know man, I had a BB Z30 for 3 years, Seven days ago, Whatsapp died for BlackBerry 10 Devices (At least the "official" app) And I see a lot of people leaving their phones for reasons like that. My z30 died becouse of the battery issue after being completly discharged, and now it just doesnt even turn on. For a long time i thought BlackBerry was one of the holly phone makers that no one could destroy, but now i really dont know if a lot more people like Us (The hardcore BlackBerry users) even want them around. I absolutely do, and i'm looking forward to buying a new Motion soon. Best wishes from México by a BlackBerry fan.
Headphone jack and a big battery? What do you mean no one has been asking for this? This is exactly what average people (including me) care about in a phone!
pingpong1138 👍Yes ! A huge 4000 mAh 🔋battery! an ip 67 ***, extra security ***.solid gripp! Very Good looks. Android. Blackberry is coming fast enough in the back stretch, watch out people!!! 5.5" 👍nice display! & more *****
You can take and send dickpics securely with it it and it doesn't stand out?! What?! Not every device has to be unique to be a good product. Not to mention that it's cheaper than the Razer phone. And it has a headphone jack.
May not need to be unique to be good... but when you're competing for sales.. you need SOMETHING that stands out and says "I'm more worth your time and money than that other phone". He's basically saying with that line that its an ok phone... if the store was completely out of stock of all other options he'd buy it... but he's not exactly rushing for a reservation to make sure he'd have one. (I know he has one already..its an example).
I think the problem is that.. Past gen flagships are just... outshining it, for the same kind of price range as well. That middle of the road 'flagship feel' is a crowded place and honestly... it barely makes sense if we're honest.. I think something to help it stand out wouldn't hurt.
I think the real issue, is that it is easier to complain about flagships "missing" features than it is to praise a pretty conservative effort to cater to the power user. I fail to see what this phone is missing that people haven't been complaining about "losing" on their favorite flagships... SD cards maybe? idk.
The front camera is 8MP but the rear is 12MP. (0:55) That's pretty standard for modern smartphones. I'm not a blackberry fan, but I have friends who will probably get this... they just love Blackberry for some reason.
Everyone I know who says they love blackberry says they loved it because of its excellent physical (non-touchscreen) keyboard. So... this doesn't have that, so nobody I know is going to especially care.
Ultranerd Prime design me and my friend buying old blackberry like passport and z10 and now he's gona buy priv and i gona get keyone... Even though i have v20 and he has note 5 as main devices but blackberry design and build quality is just apple. In here(Indonesia) blackberry is known for its design and yes expensive even thou i can get passport se for $149 or less brand new.... We love it for the design...
The rear camera has got 12 MP, but a very bad apperture and the pictures in low light conditions are really very bad. Thats a huge problem of the Motion.
You are absolutely right and thats the problem of the Motion. In reality, the camera is very bad, espcially when the light conditions are not perfect, you get very blurry pictures.
Blackberry should just make $10 flip phones for kids. Maybe Blackberry could make it big in the toy industry. If that doesn't work, increase the vibrating motors up 10 levels and try the Adult Toy market. Introduce the BBCellphones to some lonely cougars.
I waited for this! Bought it on the day of release. Well, first because it has hardened security. It's the most secure Android smartphone. Second, because of the BlackBerry keyboard: the best virtual keyboard on the market. Third, because of the whopping 4000mah battery. I have been able to spend the weekend on a single charge. And lastly, because it's a BlackBerry! The same argument why someone prefers an Samsung, LG or Google. I just like the hardware built from BlackBerry with its durable design and the software is top notch. This phone is actually one of the sleeper hits of 2017 if you ask me
With all of the new flagship Phones looking like shit (Sony, HTC?!!) or being outright unbuyable for me (exception LG V30 and maybe XIAOMI MIX2) the BlackBerry phones are a blessing. They are just different form the other phones in such a refreshing way. They don't bother with stupid features complicated design or top of the line tech that just ends up not working all the time. They are phones that do one thing: Work all the time. For me, that's the most important thing. I don't need amazing performance for running the basic messenger and social media apps and to visit the occasional website. I don't have time to play games on my phone, and if I want a good display to consume some content I'll use my tablet or computer.
Linus Thumbs down for saying "Why does Blackberry Need to Exist" "Nothing Special" about this phone. It really works well for me. I even sold my Pixel XL for this. Its my everyday here! This is what I like about it... - Secure and updated all the time, its a Blackberry not a Apple or Google! - Finger sensor in front! not like Pixel in back. I can once again place on table and open phone without picking it up! You can also program like the pixel to swipe down to bring notifications. - Cheaper!! Half Price as Pixel (but its not for games! not a gaming phone!, Really people, use Ipad or PC) - Battery Live, Pixel would die after a day, and at times feel like pocket warmer really hot and always reboot. - Blackberry, quick charge and when full your good for two days! - Nano Diamond "Dragon Tail" glass. I never get finger prints on this! Nothing sticks! - IP67 WaterProof. Not really needed but everyone does this now. - Fine tune OS. It has Blackberry DTEK and lots of other common widgets and shortcuts a few screens away. - Also back and free is BB HUB and bb software! Best way to get all communications and reply back to the as your sending from another email, best notification centre - Convince button can hold three shortcuts. I have my as Calendar, Hub and Google Now - Vibration!! Pixel would be in pocket and miss emails and notifications. On the Motion you hear it well and feel the phone shake! I know it sounds crazy but I need these alerts for work! - Keyboard is probably one of the best, even the phone dude who sold it to me who has a Apple X was really surprised and said the typing experience is better than his. Its really like the Z30 keyboard. - Storage, Pixel non, Motion - I popped in my 128 Gig 10 speed with no issues, not I can copy my song collection and movies for offline! - Creamy snappy Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS - Camera. Pixel wins but its mostly software. This camera works for me and storage space is amazing. Im sure someone can hack that new camera APK going around for better shots as it mostly software issues. - Dick pic locker is a cool feature I must say, need to clean out my locker! I enjoy this phone a lot! and I have used Apple 6,7, Samsung S6 and Goggle, This really feels like a solid phone. Here are the specs for everyone again! OS/Software: Android 7.1.2 Nougat Display: 5.5in, 1920x1080 IPS LCD @403ppi Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 625, Octa-core 2GHz GPU: Adreno 506 GPU RAM:4GB Storage: 32GB Expansion: microSD up to 2TB Rear Camera: 12MP (1.55 micron) f/2.0, phase-detection autofocus, dual-tone dual-LED flash, HDR, 4K video @30fps Front Camera: 8MP f/2.2, 1.12-micron pixels, Selfie flash, 1080p video @30fps Battery: 4000mAh non-removable, Quick Charge 3.0 Connectivity: USB Type-C, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 5GHz, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, GPS, GLONASS Other: IP67 Water resistance, DTEK security suite, FIPS 140-2 Full Disk Encryption, Android For Work, Google Play for Work Dimensions: 155.7 mm x 75.4 mm x 8.13 mm Weight: 167g That's my rant! I know I going to hear some positive and negative so bring it on! I'm BatMan! :)
I think my Dad and my boss would like those features. "Resoundingly ok" sounds like exactly what they need. Hardware buttons? Check. Android? For one, check; the other, sure w/e. 625? Cool, w/e, so long as the thing just always works well. Games? They don't play games. Cheaper? Yes! Waterproof. Good. (Does that include diesel proof? That's for my Dad.) UK & CAN? Fail Blackberry. USA!
I think Linus said it's about 600 Canukistan Pesos. Which is about 250 Canabodian Dollhairs cheaper than other flagship smartphones, again according to Linus. You have to decide if what you get for those rupies are worth it. (And I should probably skip AvE for a while)
honestly for a working person i think blackberry is the best phone out there right now.. better battery life then a lot of other phones and the email and messaging is handled the best out of any device out there.. still miss my old blackberry 10 messaging but don't miss the lack of apps which has been fixed by using android
Just A Person it's a flagship because it's the best phone Blackberry currently "makes" that's the meaning of flagship. But it's a midrange flagship. But i agree Linus was comparing it to the high-end phones when that's not the case. Also he passed through the extra button like if it was nothing great when he has been praising it on the Samsung Galaxy Active line and has been complaining about how it's not remappable on the Galaxy S8
Flagship=leading the fleet Which it very much does, as it's the bet Blackberry had done. I agree that e shouldn't compare it to high-end phones, but at the same time it's price ridiculously high for what it is
I wouldn't even call it flagship cause the Moto G4 has similar specs, a better camera, and is only $200. My phone is more comparable to it, and my phone was the second cheapest smartphone from LG.
I have been happy using a BB PRIV for almost 2 years. I cracked my screen, and I decided to buy the new flagship Samsung Galaxy phone. I tested the Samsung keyboard for the productivity feature that I required and I was very disappointed. WTF a premium phone with an a less than premium virtual keyboard compared to BB. I thought BB was dead, then I heard about the BB Motion. I watch a number of UA-cam review and decided to order one. My carrier doesn't carry the Motion and I had to jump through hoops to buy an unlock phone. The Motion exceeded my expectations. I am in business, I send a lot of emails and texts. I need the best, smartest and most productive keyboard and a large battery etc.. BB is still relevant. I am disappointed that Samsung can't make a virtual keyboard that is as good as BB. BTW - I would never buy an Apple phone.
Action Hiro if I liked this comment for every single smart thing you said you would probably get a like for each sentence I'm only going through reviews because my dtek60 just soaked,&never recovered I need a water resistant phone apart from the camera and design s8 was a complete disappointment, vkb on d bb is second to none and the hub even just isn't as smooth on other non-bb phones
Blackberry actually has some solid phones. I hope they continue to make more Android phones. But it's somehow not available in the USA... when you came to NYC to unbox it?
To me a blackberry phone should have a physical keyboard or not even bother calling itself a blackberry phone. Because that WOULD be a standout feature right about now that would make it unique. As it stands, it just gets lost in a crowd.
Oh wow, didn't know about that. Somewhat surprised Linus didn't mention it. I'd prefer a pull-out style I think, reviews note that typing on it is a bit slow due to the small size. And it takes up part of the front and lowers the resolution to a weirdo 1620x1080. But hey, it exists.
You know one funny thing? humans are really greedy and bitch. when bb had only keyboard phones, people nagged about it and bb almost died, when it came back with new market features now people are like wth it doesnt have a keyboard it's bad??. DONT bitch about the keyboard, the keyone, priv, passport still have keyboard styles in there and motion in of the the full touch ones.
YEP ... always had a phone with a keyboard... Loved my Nokia Communicator / Nokia T90? / Xperia Sony... but alas... they became outdated, slow and software depleted.... Then, loved the Blackberry Passport...till the motherboard malfunctioned... now I love my BlackBerry Priv... with a keyboard that can slide out. I hate the phones where you only can touch the screen...no physical keyboard. If the Priv goes bad... I will have to look for an other phone with a keyboard... we will wait and see.
I think it's good for there to be competition - and I think it has some features that set it apart. That reprogrammable button gives you the camera from anywhere functionality you've liked on other devices, the battery is better than most, waterproofing is a great thing. What sets any phone apart at this point? Like, who is asking for another version of every Galaxy phone? I think this is a little harsh given that the phone does most of what you've liked about the bigger brands' phones, and has some fixes to complaints about those phones.
you can get a Huawei p10 with that price, which is a high end phone with double 14 MP camera and a much better processor, screen, build quality and ram.
As someone who has never owned a blackberry phone I still love that company. The lack of a keyboard is disappointing and the price for the specs is OK.
People that usually criticize the newer BB's probably have never owned one and just go with what they "think" of BB. The home key is a finger print reader. Their security and granular control over settings is by far better than any other phone. They are THE MOST reliable with monthly updates on time so there is no gap between when the public knows about a vulnerability and when the update comes. I have a DTEK60 (snapdragagon 825) which cost a fraction of the S8 and has virtually the same specs, shy of waterproofing, which i would take the dual front firing speakers over in my opinion. It's fantastic. Their DTEK app is great for spotting security weaknesses and setting individual app restrictions or notifications. After installing an app I go to Dtek and there I can unselect any of the permissions that you are forced to install the app with. I can do security notifications so if any app accesses my mic, I can either have a notification or not allow it all together. It also tells you how many instances every action has been accessed. Their HUB is the BEST for organization and productivity even outside working and their productivity tab gives you all the tasks and events at your fingertips.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4/5 Snapdragon 625 3/4 Gb 32/64 Gb bad camera 5,5" Full HD display 4100 mAh battery Android 7.0 200/250 $ about 400 $ cheaper gj Blackberry
It's not a fair comparison! These Chinese phones will always be much cheaper! But the $450 Samsung Galaxy A5 really gives this Blackberry phone a run for its money.
Thats nearly as bad as an Apple fan boy comment.... Pointless with no grounding...! Other than some potentially custom RIM apps, it's an Android phone.... Muppet!
Not a lie, blackberry is a phone company, Samsung is a entertainment company focused on fun and camera. Blackberry has better software. Qnx alone tells the story.. 90% of cars run on Qnx blackberry software
I absolutely love BlackBerry. I think TCL has been doing a great job keeping up the brand. BlackBerry is also very commited to delivering the updates on time. While the Motion didn't catch much of my attention, the KEYone has been an incredible device for the 5 months I've been using it. However, don't forget you get enterprise level security, Productivity features that are actually something, and the controls on the bezel make streaming from apps that don't support the Chromecast a lot smoother.
It's definitely a good thing that Blackberry is still trying to be competitive in 2017. As someone who lives less than 30 km from the Blackberry HQ in Waterloo, it is really important to have Blackberry around, just from their effect on the region and as a sort of pride for the area. Also, there's all of that nostalgia of Blackberry being many people's phone of choice for years in the mid 2000's and later.
I don't know this tech reviewer but he's Canadian and has a ton of subs so I like him. To answer the question posed: does BlackBerry still need to make phones, the answer is a resounding YES. 1) who else is making keyboards on phones, required for business folks who need accuracy. 2) battery life. you cannot beat it. 3) security, the software runs deep. it is developed by BlackBerry in Waterloo ON and retains the company heritage. small subtle things in its built in software that set it apart from other Android phones. in a word: #UNSTOPPABLE
As a fellow Canadian I keep rooting for Blackberry! My last BB was a Torch, then I went to a Samsung Galaxy core 4g. I now rock an LG G4 where the tab is going to be paid off in March. I have a short list of replacements and Blackberry is always on the list if the specs are comparable to, say an LG V30. Four months and I get ready to pick again.
:D I had no idea there was a major difference in French! Is it really the standard name for the unit in France? I suppose it might be useful in differentiating between Gigabytes and Gibibytes... What is your name for Gibibytes?
Benjamin Philipp Bytes is Octet in french, it's the standard unit, written O, Ko, Mo, Go, To ; Gibibytes are Gibioctets (Gi). But there's a LOT of confusion around it (the marketing doesn't help either)
basically a byte consists of 8 bits, and an octet consists of 8 things (bits in this context)... I think the french are just rebelling against the mainstream
I have always liked the build quality of a Blackberry. Retired now, I used to carry a secure gov issued one for many years. If you have a real life you get by with a Blackberry 10 and nobody is spying on you. If you need a phone for email, call the kids from wherever you were sent, check mail and message then this is all you need. I noticed a USB C port on the bottom. Sadly by the time Blackberry realized it is all about your app store, it was too late their OS to survive. Same with Windows Phone which was another good OS platform. If they had just spent a tiny fraction of what they spent trying to save their phone business and just given the critical app company a million bucks a piece to port their apps over they would be in business today. For 20 mil they could have had all the major apps that people used.
I'm happy that BlackBerry is still around, they add a bit of variety which is a good thing. I am currently using a new Nokia phone and while it's not a premium device in spec it certainly is good value for money. I hope to see BlackBerry and Nokia doing well and rebuilding their brand identities 👍👌
Don't use BBM if you want a secure messenger. It's probably safer than Facebook Messenger/Snapchat or just plain old SMS, but you'd be better off sending that nude over Signal, Wire, or Whatsapp. Just a tip (pun intended) from a guy who takes privacy seriously.
Thanks for doing that review... I'm one of the few that love and still use a BB (with BB OS). They might never have been the best gaming devices or cameras, but I have a PC and a DSLR for that. All I want is the best damn communication tool and they always got that right.
I have this phone and I LOVE it! It does everything I need it to do and it does it well. It seems durable, fast, and reliable. It's NOT a "sexy" phone, but it does everything it's supposed to do very well.
Pausing at 10 seconds. I asked for this. Im not a fanboy for anything. but i liked Blackberry phones and i've been waiting for this phone for a long time. Im excited to watch this video! Thanks Linus!
I love my blackberry's owned all the latest flagships with keyboards! The keyboard are just so easy to use and since I only text with my phone it is a must-have for me.
I'm using the Blackberry Keyone right now absolutely love it, I have yet to use a phone without a keyboard i always am able to type faster and more accurate than everyone else.
I miss my Blackberry. It was my first smart phone way back in 2009. I'm not sure I'd give up my iPhone for one at this point but maybe if they continue to improve I'd consider switching back. I hope they hang in there. At any rate, I'm in the US and my provider doesn't support Blackberry so I'm not going to worry about it.
Why do you even bother doing reviews, why do you exist Linus? (Sorry.) The bashing of a company or brand without reason is pretty low, it's not funny or anything, just plain bad manners and uncalled for. I actually worked like 1 year for the brand and got a paycheck so hearing you bashing this brand leaves me with bad feelings about it, they never done anything bad to me, you are just forgetting people are working/buying the products and have a job from the company.
I believe he's just wondering why Blackberry still makes phones (and they made more than needed) as they are just Android phones now, that doesn't bring anything new or special compared to other phones
Cdek654 other phones don't bring anything special too, other than making less secure phones. So why all the other companies deserve to make phones? Why not a company known for making top secure phones?
Samir Noor well I know their software were made available for all other Android devices but I don't know about the phones themselves. I know they used to be and I loved my blackberry phones I wish they kept making the bbos10 instead
akahomie100 so irrelevant that topluxury cars are using qnx software on 50- cars. They are focusing on self driving cars while people are crying over apps lol
akahomie100 You've your blinkers on. Your head is in the ⏳sand. We have the priv & passport they're excellent & very reliable phones. Also an iPhone! Unlike the rest of the others!!!
Honestly, BlackBerry provides some really cool features and little security add ons that I really enjoy. Obviously the ketone stands out also for its keyboard but I really enjoy the software experience
Before I switched to Android, I was a die-hard Blackberry user for about five years. So, I still have a bit of an attachment to the brand even though I'm on my second Samsung now. I never owned a BB device that I didn't like, and I'm glad they are now fully onboard with Android and the days of sideloading apps to BB10 are behind them. Maybe I'll return someday.
I love my Blackberry plus it's the only phone on the market over the last 15+ years which has never been hacked. On the top, the Blackberry App sure make this phone easier and more productive to use then a basic Android or Apple phone but we know most will never get to enjoy all the features that it comes with because there are lots.
I personally love the look of it. It is not huge, like much of the phones now a days. It has USB-C, it still has a headphone jack, no curved screen (hate curved screens because it ruins screen protectors), and most importantly it has expandable memory. All the great features and no rediculous extras.
I just ordered one and it will be my second Android BlackBerry. I will admit I've been a fan boy since 2008 and have never owned a smartphone other than a BlackBerry. I have to say that I hope this one pleases me more than the PRIV. The PRIV was pretty much an all touch phone with a slide out keyboard that I never used. Mostly, Android sucks compared to BB10 and I'm still pissed that it the masses didn't adopt it to the point where they could have afforded to keep producing BB10 phones but I digress. Now I have to choose between Android and iOS and I'll go with Android. If i must use Android I might as well stick with a BlackBerry branded phone. I am looking forward to the huge battery though, i hate looking for a charger at 4 pm.
Had countless blackberry curves throughout high school before my Iphone 4. Love blackberry and miss the "no nonsense" phone type. Would be very excited to see this come to US market. Always a blackberry and BBM fan!
BlackBerry: hey you wanna come unbox our new phone all inclusive trip to newyork
Linus: yeah sure great, "whats up everyone today we have the phone no one asked for"
BlackBerry: ......
They surely didn't go to New York just to "unbox" a mid range smartphone. Pretty sure this was done after/before their main work in NY.
feels so disrespectful
It was disrespectful, but it was honest. Would you rather Linus lied and said the phone was awesome, then you bought it and was disappointed, or that he was honest and you bought it knowing what you were buying.
Yhowbyjytub310 an honest review is fine but to say no one asked for this is disrespectful
Did you asked?
A Canadian based tech content creator has to go to America to make a video on a Canadian tech product?
Quite obvious he made this video during downtime.
My guess? When he went to that tech cruise liner thing
Yeah, would make a lot more sense than trekking it all the way from VC to NYC just for an unboxing.
Doubt. The phone screen clearly says "WED, Dec 6", so it's from yesterday, unless he intentionally changed the date on the phone.
I enjoy only the finest pizza.
find out next time on dragon ball z
So what did he say in our sponsored review?
“Perfect phone to send a dick pic”
What else did he say? "Should blackberry just give up? Does anyone still want them around?" (paraphrasing)
It wasn't sponsored. They just sent him the phone and he didn't even promise to make the video. Pretty much everything you see in LTT they got for free except for their actual office equipment.
Tony Weiner agrees
fizzle mygrizzle woosh
thats not the point the sent him a phone and thats what he said about it
I guess its kinda like what Volvo is to Swedish people. Sometimes you just want a phone, that looks nice and just works, and works nicely. Sometimes you just want a smartphone, and that phone is it, just a smartphone. yup. I've been rockin' a priv for awhile, and it just always works. Doesn't freeze up in cold weather, doesn't overheat, runs fast enough, has a headphone jack, the battery lasts all day with mixed use - just totally problem free.
Ew Eww No good performance, no good specs, nothing you can brag about.
Yep, the glorius midrange. However it's not alone in the midrange at all, so it still does not really have a unique spot in the market.
I used the Priv for a year and gave up on it. I guess every users experience is different, but my Priv barely ever worked. Super laggy, buggy, slow, ran hot all the time and even though the battery life was pretty decent at the start, it degraded extremely quickly
Remember when Linus got butt hurt cause Razer didn't send him the phone early lol
Yawp
Oh shoot, put the d that's on my bandana, use your a, use my m, and Naveed you use the N and BOOM. you get damn
wtf?
i member
n00bie I'm not 11 tho
That’s a phone going through a midlife crisis.
more like a endoflife crisis
Vikas Jangra good analogy
Captain likes this comment XD
"4000 mA hour battery!"

They just keep trying
And I like it
Dr. Dunk or dont or somethi li
Dr. Dunk ke that
right? if its good and not overpriced, why not
Still bizarre to see a Blackberry phone in 2017.
not in 2008 but yeah
Knuckles Channel 3 & Knuckles ye prob
I would actually buy stuff like these if they aren't overpriced. These stuff cost nearly as much as oneplus 5t. With a SD 625 processors...... And less aesthetic, slower charge speed
I am watching this on a blackberry priv!
Stranger yet is that Packard Bell made a tablet this year.
I wasn't contemplating upgrading from my dtek50, but you might have just convinced me...
Their productivity apps are unbeatable tbh, their calendar is a life saver for me
It would be nice if they first party engineered a phone again, but if they can replicate the feel of their older phones, then hey, go for it!
Then get another phone that will cost you a third of this one :/
Cdek654 true
You should take a look at Xiaomi phones, they have amazing products at really good prices.
pingpong1138 👍Yes !
And it has a headphone jack.
tbh it should have a better camera if that was the focus
May not need to be unique to be good... but when you're competing for sales.. you need SOMETHING that stands out and says "I'm more worth your time and money than that other phone".
He's basically saying with that line that its an ok phone... if the store was completely out of stock of all other options he'd buy it... but he's not exactly rushing for a reservation to make sure he'd have one. (I know he has one already..its an example).
And it has a slow ass 625 chip that’s why
I think the problem is that.. Past gen flagships are just... outshining it, for the same kind of price range as well.
That middle of the road 'flagship feel' is a crowded place and honestly... it barely makes sense if we're honest.. I think something to help it stand out wouldn't hurt.
Tibor Klein can i take a dicpic with you r phone no dont dumb loser bye

Linus, the type of guy who recommends a phone based on its capability to send dickpicks
I think the real issue, is that it is easier to complain about flagships "missing" features than it is to praise a pretty conservative effort to cater to the power user. I fail to see what this phone is missing that people haven't been complaining about "losing" on their favorite flagships... SD cards maybe? idk.
'No one asked for' 😂😂😂
Nikhil Rajbhar ha
Nikhil Rajbhar i askd 4
Nikhil Rajbhar I would get this over any phone without a damn headphone jack 😑.

Spartn the bads
The front camera is 8MP but the rear is 12MP. (0:55)
That's pretty standard for modern smartphones.
I'm not a blackberry fan, but I have friends who will probably get this... they just love Blackberry for some reason.
but depends a lot on the quality of the glass, sensor, aperture and pixel size, razer phone also has a 12mp camera and everyone say its terrible
“BBCellphones” it took me -a bit too long- more time than I should have to see what you did there 😏
Not your kind--the ones that take it up the ass.
flipwarrior #dildroid
HAHAHAH
I think Samsung still make flip phones.

Blackberry differentiates themselves with software. It's all rock solid, near stock and super secure. It's an Android phone for business

I personally love Blackberry. I use a Priv as my daily driver and it is a great experience. That being said, I hardly use the physical keyboard.
Sebastian Schmitz Shit looking like your brain
Sebastian Schmitz well said! Like most of us.

Thumbs down for saying "Why does Blackberry Need to Exist" "Nothing Special" about this phone.
- Cheaper!! Half Price as Pixel (but its not for games! not a gaming phone!, Really people, use Ipad or PC)
- Battery Live, Pixel would die after a day, and at times feel like pocket warmer really hot and always reboot.
Best way to get all communications and reply back to the as your sending from another email, best notification centre
- Convince button can hold three shortcuts. I have my as Calendar, Hub and Google Now
- Vibration!!
- Creamy snappy Android 7.1.2 Nougat OS
- Camera.

That's my rant!
That's for my Dad.)
UK & CAN? Fail Blackberry. USA!
Mike Stromecki did you just say it has a good price?
I think Linus said it's about 600 Canukistan Pesos. Which is about 250 Canabodian Dollhairs cheaper than other flagship smartphones, again according to Linus. You have to decide if what you get for those rupies are worth it. (And I should probably skip AvE for a while)
I knew I spotted an AvE fan when I started reading that!
There's word it'll launch her sometime. I think.
for me: trolls USA? check!
well...I do know one thing, they are not going to send you any more Blackberrys.
stay at home Gamer True dat
honestly for a working person i think blackberry is the best phone out there right now.. better battery life then a lot of other phones and the email and messaging is handled the best out of any device out there.. still miss my old blackberry 10 messaging but don't miss the lack of apps which has been fixed by using android
No! This isn't a flagship! It is a MIDRANGE phone, that's why the processor is a 625, don't judge it as a flagship
Flagship=leading the fleet
Which it very much does, as it's the bet Blackberry had done.
Yhowbyjytub310 my ZTE Axon 7 Mini has better specs than this black berry and its 200 USD
walkin mn active line doesn't even have a special button anymore smh
Action Hiro if I liked this comment for every single smart thing you said you would probably get a like for each sentence
I'm only going through reviews because my dtek60 just soaked,&never recovered
I need a water resistant phone apart from the camera and design s8 was a complete disappointment, vkb on d bb is second to none and the hub even just isn't as smooth on other non-bb phones
Just install the google keyboard.
You can get the hub keyboard calender from the play store free for 30 days then pennies a month download BlackBerry hub+services &BlackBerry manager
0:55 And here we see Linus using his rarely seen Jedi powers to bend reality
oh. that's a relief. i thought they wasted thousands of dollars on faulty cameras. good to know it was just the force
That looked like artifacts generated by frame interpolation. I'm not saying they interpolated anything though.
A Blackberry without a keyboard is a bit silly...
I'm waiting for the Priv 2 with Dual Sim

Why is no one talking about Linus' hand transitioning through dimensions at 0:56?
I had to search for a comment on that, and this was it. I noticed that straight away. What a strange error.
Glitch in the system
They probably used a software to upscale the frame rate. That typically happens when you upscale
As it stands, it just gets lost in a crowd.
slide out keyboards ftw. no loss, double type of keyboard
The Priv....
When a blackberry phone has more RAM than the iPhone X...
but leaves none for pc gamers
A potato has more ram than an iPhone X

It was just a glitch in the matrix

newrecycle NOPE i diidnt see it
+Tailong *_THERE IS NO GLITCH IN THE MATRIX!!_*
I’ve never asked for this
It would work great with Adam jensen account
Don't you think,,,,this is expensive...according to its quality...?
Must be a closet fanboy to be reasonable about the iPhone X review but pull his punches with this one.
Flo Studios This isn't a review, so surprise, this isn't as critical
Quality? Not really imo BB have the premium feeling on their devices BUT Spec wise... Yes too expensive
you can get a Huawei p10 with that price, which is a high end phone with double 14 MP camera and a much better processor, screen, build quality and ram.
marcus Fosse Snatched my thinking....😂😂😂...What about the Oneplus 5?
We all knew how this was gonna go down
As someone who has never owned a blackberry phone I still love that company. The lack of a keyboard is disappointing and the price for the specs is OK.
Silas Mayes keyone?? They have other phones
CaptainDave the keyone is a bit expensive for the hardware
Silas Mayes well u get pixel camera Minus software the hdr+
Yeh I have the Motion Phone and am very happy with it.
I actually have a Blackberry motion and I love it!

It's not a fair comparison! These Chinese phones will always be much cheaper! But the $450 Samsung Galaxy A5 really gives this Blackberry phone a run for its money.
There is also the moto g5+ or the moto g5s+ , comes with a dual camera and has NFC support
Loving these double uploads!
Respect for flying so much to New York Linus with all the stuff you got going on in your life.

4:13 Linus is tryna show us the goods.. look at the mirror in the bottom right corner :D
I love blackberry has like 3 times better software when compared with any samsung
Thats nearly as bad as an Apple fan boy comment.... Pointless with no grounding...! Other than some potentially custom RIM apps, it's an Android phone.... Muppet!
Well if you are talking about BB7 and older Samsung older Samsung's software, yea sure that pretty fucking obvious
Not a lie, blackberry is a phone company, Samsung is a entertainment company focused on fun and camera. Blackberry has better software. Qnx alone tells the story.. 90% of cars run on Qnx blackberry software
I do and did prefer bb10 to android hands down. It was so much more efficient and didnt have everything running in the background all the time.
I like it, a good candidate for me, no interest in overpriced flagships
Mikee CZ last years flagships are the same price and outperform the blackberry
The Hunter But they get one year of support, 2 at most, more likely a year.
Then consider the Samsung Galaxy A5 for $450 (Canadian). It seems like a much better value.

A A hahahahahahaahahah goure er is fuunnny
I don't know what that is, but I'm down for a round....
Yea Giga Octet \o/
:D I had no idea there was a major difference in French!
Is it really the standard name for the unit in France?
I suppose it might be useful in differentiating between Gigabytes and Gibibytes... What is your name for Gibibytes?
Benjamin Philipp
Bytes is Octet in french, it's the standard unit, written O, Ko, Mo, Go, To ; Gibibytes are Gibioctets (Gi).
But there's a LOT of confusion around it (the marketing doesn't help either)
basically a byte consists of 8 bits, and an octet consists of 8 things (bits in this context)... I think the french are just rebelling against the mainstream
You realize Blackberry is a Canadian company, and the french lingo is for Quebec, not France right?
+Miki Shiki Show You'd be surprised how ambiguous the term "byte" used to be. Octet is actually a lot better since it specifically refers to 8.
Technologically more advanced than a macbook pro

Always like those “security” feature from BB

I had a blackberry Ad.
i really like the way it looks and I like how blackberry is still around because they did produce some world class phones 5-10 years ago.
Just a tip (pun intended) from a guy who takes privacy seriously.
sounds like a phone for people who dosent wanna spend allot of money. not all people spend allot of money on phones.
Bakl Bal its one of those budget phones but at a flagship price...
You can get one plus 5 or even better g6..... With that price but if u have more cash and wanna look cool u can get this
#LinusSexTips CONFIRMED!

I love the keyboards and the touchpad of Blackberrys. There is definitely a need for a manufacturer which does those.
I've had so many BB phones, and I honestly miss them. GL BB hope you guys survive the iPhone/Galaxy madness.

okay. not what i wanted 100%. but an okay phone to have a decent phone and for 'cheap'. im okay with that.

Can you do a blackberry motion unboxing?
I'm using the Blackberry Keyone right now absolutely love it, I have yet to use a phone without a keyboard i always am able to type faster and more accurate than everyone else.
I miss my Blackberry. It was my first smart phone way back in 2009. I'm not sure I'd give up my iPhone for one at this point but maybe if they continue to improve I'd consider switching back. I hope they hang in there. At any rate, I'm in the US and my provider doesn't support Blackberry so I'm not going to worry about it.
Why do you even bother doing reviews, why do you exist Linus? (Sorry.)
The bashing of a company or brand without reason is pretty low,
it's not funny or anything, just plain bad manners and uncalled for.
I actually worked like 1 year for the brand and got a paycheck so hearing you bashing this
brand leaves me with bad feelings about it, they never done anything bad to me, you are just
forgetting people are working/buying the products and have a job from the company.
Samir Noor I agree with you. But are they really more secure now that they use Android?
Cdek654 it doesn't matter because no hacked it yet, but many did hack the rest. Plus blackberry were known for making great software and hardware.
Samir Noor well I know their software were made available for all other Android devices but I don't know about the phones themselves. I know they used to be and I loved my blackberry phones I wish they kept making the bbos10 instead
Blackberry is so irrelevant at this point that I legit forgot they even existed until you made this video.
akahomie100 so irrelevant that topluxury cars are using qnx software on 50- cars.
Glad they made it, I hope to see more good things from blackverry in the future.
Blackberry 9630 was and always will be my favorite phone I've ever had.
