Thanks for doing this video, just found out about Gaslands today via facebook, seeing Kenny Boucher from Longwar Network being a member of that community,so I checked it out.I have always loved MadMax,seeing the first Road Warrior when I was 8yo.I love the post apocalyptic settings,as well as being a major Motorhead/Car Nerd.I'am also big into 40k, since 2ed,so this Gaslands game hits all the buttons!!! I could imagine coming up with Themes for teams, all Hot Rod,all Trucks, all Mopars etc etc LOL
I'm pretty glad this is another gaslands video. I don't think I have any more hobby time to consume on something new. Ever since your last video on it I've been reading the book, collecting cars and finding odd bits to modify them with. I've always liked the idea of a miniatures war game but I never wanted to spend that much money or time on just one game. This is perfect for me. Thanks for highlighting it on your show. IMO this is the perfect content from you for these videos. Keep up the good work.
That's great! This is really a great game for someone who does't have a ton of time to commit. It's nor hard to make these guys look cool with a minimal amount of time. I did this guy in about an hour. Have fun!
The Secret Cabal Gaming Podcast you guys have already consumed all of my extra time! We were already heavy into board games then your show convinced me to get into rpgs now this. I ain’t got time for all this nonsense, as Tony would say. We’ve got a few hundred games between the 4 of us in our group, we’re neck deep in playing a Fate game originally set in the Scythe world, and now my hobby paint area is filled with cars, tiny pipes and toy guns. You’re killing me smalls!
Wow first time I've seen a style that isn't rusted mad max inspired, it's more death proof death race muscle matte i really dig it and the big guns really suit the game too
You should use a pin drill and hollow the gun barrels. I used to do that with my 40k models. It's a small thing that has a much larger effect. I just got my book and now I'm about to go through the ol' bitz box. This game has unlimited potential for awesomeness. Thanks for highlighting this gem. Long live The Secret Cabal! Best podcast in the history of time and space.
@@chrisfuller3151 They are leftover bits from Warhammer Fantasy model kits. They 're actually the wrong scale for these cars but they still look cool. You can get a box of just a bunch of skulls from GW if you want them. www.amazon.com/Games-Workshop-99129999012-Citadel-Skulls/dp/B074WH9LX8/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=warhammer+skulls&qid=1553197117&s=gateway&sr=8-1
I was looking at Hot Wheels the other day in the store and thinking about this game. I may be the only one, but I'd really like to play this with the weird Hot Wheels monster cars. The ones that look like alligators, scorpions, dragons, bats, etc. I don't know why, but those are just screaming to me, for a crazy game like this. I guess it would kill some of the theme and the "realism" (if you can call a post-apocalyptic theme realistic), but I think it would be fun to see those crazy car designs on the board.
This is great content Jaime. Deep dives into your current projects and interests make for solid videos. I'm interested to see more like this with the various skirmish wargames you are playing or plan on playing. Would also be great to see some of the GM/Player prep work you do for the Lords of the Dungeon campaigns. Really enjoy what you are putting out with this channel, thank you!
Thanks Gus! Glad you're enjoying the videos. I think RPG content would be a really fun one to tackle. With these "Jamie Talks About Stuff..." videos I do feel free to explore whatever I happened to be passionate about and it makes for creating the content a lot of fun!
I picked up the Gaslands book and am reading it now. I love post-apocalyptic and now an excuse to play with Hot Wheels again. Definitely interested in checking this out.
I use that exact same tool that you used to paint the inside front of the guns. I have them in varying sizes and I'm not sure where I got them. They are great for making circles.
Props on the painting skills. The cars and vans look great. What about adding some smaller details like barbed wire, rope or duct tape? Heck, look around town at what's holding old pickups and cars together for ideas!
You are absolutely right! I do want to go into m ore details with my cars but I'm starting small just go get more cars on the table. Since these minis are so cheap to make, I can keep making more and more and getting more complicated as I go. My goal with this video was to show how easy it is to just get it looking cool.
What you said about having a little backstory for each (in the last video) resonated. "This guy realized the bolter was a bit heavy and he ran a rope across the hood to distribute the weight on the other side of the car." "This guy wasn't planning on fighting so soon after his last one and only patched some damage with duct tape until he could find scrap metal for a permanent fix." Keep up the great work (cars, painting, video and podcasts.)
As I was watching this, all I could think was "No, Jamie, don't use a hobby knife like that, don't cut back toward your thumb!", and in the very next scene, sure enough, there's TK-8492 dropping in for a visit. Great stuff though, I'm getting more and more interested in Gaslands every day, hope it gets to the table soon.
yeah I have a new batch of cars I'm going to be working on. I wanna do some turrets - only been playing with forward facing guns right now. Going to try some new stuff.
Ordered Gaslands after your last video to play with the kids. Don't know if I'll get around to modding any of our Matchbox but my oldest definitely wants to, and we enjoyed seeing yours.
That's great Jeremy! I think this project would be a great one for you to work on with your kids. Working with hotwheels/matchbox cars is awesome because most of the work is already done - you just add-to whats already there so it's not time consuming and not tedious. I hope you try it out, I think you'd all have a great time!
I wish i could find some bits like machine guns...i use orange plastic nets that i cut for the windows. And some foam board too...but for the weapons...
I'm heavy board gamer. This video made me buy gaslands a week ago. I've painted my 12 hell demon cars. All together, I've only spent 20 dollars. I'm loving this game. I would love to see you and Steve play the game.
That awesome Kevin! So glad you're having fun. Yeah Steve and I just got to play it this past week and I was thinkin the same thing. I've never tried to produce that kinda segment but I'm getting more and more interested in experimenting with it. Maybe soon!
Thanks for the new video. We are stoked at work to give this a go. Everyone is rounding up some old cars and our only 40k player is bringing in a bunch of his old bits.
Oh yeah we would just have normal stuff without his help. I'm trying to figure out how to use one of these orc arms with the gun and just make my driver a mutant. Maybe push up the roof for a bit for a head.
You definitely started something with this... I got the book digitally on my kindle for less than 10 bux and bought 8 cars for 8 bux and downloaded the tokens for free. So for under 20 bux you got hours of entertainment, Thanks Jamie.
Awesome video Jamie - I'm still waiting for my rule book to turn up over here in England but I do have a plethora of cars ready to be gaslanded! At about the 10min mark I was thinking jeez, he needs to be careful cutting towards himself like that. Use that cutting mat next time :-)
Cool very interested in getting into this game, never gotten into a miniature game before but thinking this might be a fun one to try. With videos like this do you think you could go more into detail about what sort of paint/glue/sealant etc your using? Would be useful for people like me who don't have a clue in the miniature painting world.
Hot Wheels and Matchbox cars are 1/64 scale - The templates are scaled for that size. The book tells you how to play with other larger and smallers scales including micro machine size.
Great work on the videos! My full copy of the game is not here yet, but I have been buying some hot wheels specifically for the game. :-) My wife is not a gamer but wants to try this and she's bought some cars as well. :-)
should have tried to cover half the melta, way too recognizable . for all the sweet work you do , you should try to cover the bits better so they are harder to identify. hey next time just glue a space marine helmet on the hood too.

Great video! I'm new to customizing, but after getting Gaslands I'm excited to give it a shot.
That's a mustang, but that van looks killer...literally.
Well damn you're right. '67 Shelby GT400. I have another one in my pile of cars that's a '69 Camaro and I mixed them up. My bad :(
Well, nevertheless, it's still cool. And now, this game is totally on my radar!
@@Thesecretcabal where did you get the Minnie skulls for the car? I can never find any.

Great stuff loving the simple but creative process.
I’ve been adding paper clips cut into small pieces so you get a mad max style spiky death bug car
Just picking this up and finished my first car- excited to give it another go. Yours turned out awesome-
Where do you get all the little parts
Awesome job Jamie, reminds me of the Interstate 76' game from times long gone :)
Keep doing more creative videos!
Thanks Andrew!
Really enjoyed this. Hope to see more stuff like this
Thanks Kevin!
Great video! Which primer did you use the basecoat the car?
Hello where get ur part? For cars?
Awesome video, Just starting out with a Gas land build, what site can I go to to purchase the military weapons

Great video! Minor point but you probably didn’t need to mask the windows - just paint them last, as black covers anything easily :)

What kind of glue do you use?
For your next car you need to put a big gun on the roof, or on the hood. I don't know if gas lands has turrets but that's an option as well.
yeah I have a new batch of cars I'm going to be working on. I wanna do some turrets - only been playing with forward facing guns right now. Going to try some new stuff.

Where can you get gaslands?
All the details are in the notes above!
Have you considered doing a war rig winross trucks are the right scale and would look pretty badass all done up
Those are some giant skulls!
I would have painted the front headlights neon green
Goooo Gaslands !!!
Check out Dice Mechanic Gaming if you want to find turrets, guns, etc. for your Gaslands stuff

I don't know if I'd like this game, but that is literally the smartest idea for a wargame ever.
Isnt it though? So cool.
I'm planning on fusing the fallout and mad max universes and running a campaign.
Awesome big thumbs up..:) ;) =)
Pretty sure that’s a Shelby Mustang
