I’m with Hamish 100% on getting the stupid birthday song from a bunch of strangers who definitely don’t want to be singing it to you. I hate even having to hear it second hand on someone else’s behalf.
literally everyyone in involved doesn't want to be involved and its awkward as shit
@@NonsensicalSpudz Clearly you haven't met a lot of people. I know a LOT of people who enjoy it. According to them I should stop acting so weird "It's just a birthday" and I should enjoy it..
We use to prank our friends by telling the staff it's their birthday. Lmao! They get free cake so its win-win.
I'm a server in a restaurant, and I thank God every day that I don't work somewhere where I'm forced to sing Happy Birthday, or some twisted company variant. I don't think I'd have the strength to do that every day.
I didn't even enjoy it as a kid, as a grownup I probably would just leave truth be told.
25 years ago I was at some very popular island destination. We were a company of 11-12 people. The 50-year old waiter came, most of us ordered waffles, the rest ordered all sorts of other crazy summer-like stuff. Almost every plate was slightly different than what was available in the menu due to personal preferences. There weren't two people who ordered the same thing and most ordered more than one thing. The waiter didn't have a notepad, he was just listening to us. The amount of information was so much that halfway through I started giggling nervously because I didn't know how anyone could make mental notes of so many different things under such pressure and background noise. Someone asked the waiter if he remembered half of what we had ordered and the waiter simply replied "yes, I'll remember". The whole ordeal lasted a minute or so. 10-15 minutes later the waiter came back with all plates. He remembered not only EXACTLY what we had ordered, but also WHO had ordered what. I'll never forget this.
I used to be a waiter we just kind of listen for trigger words like if you order a dish we just remembered chicken, fish, pork rather than the whole dish makes it soooooo much easier
He probably didn't realize it but he had an amateurish memory palace built in his mind for taking orders.
So nice to read a complementary story of a service worker, and told with a sincere sense of wonder. Thank you.
I can do this with tables of 5 and lower. After that I start having trouble. But I did always think it impressed people and helped my tip.
you should come to malaysia . we have "mamak"
Number 2 will always be my favourite. "WHY WILL NO ONE EAT WITH YOU?!" Kills me every time.
*cocks rifle* "NO ONE EATS ALONE!!!"
I fucking died
"Number 2 will always be my favourite."
...that's what she said
I just liked the maniac laugh
Insane Ben the waiter is the best lol
Ben: "No one eats alone!!!"
Me, eating breakfast alone while watching: "Geez, ok! I won't, I'll starve from now on!"
Has their acting gotten exponentially better or were they always this bloody good. Their videos actually make me laugh out loud. Unbelievably hilarious.
I was wondering the same. I only started watching these guys a few weeks ago, and they proper crack me up, It's like they're better so much funded channels or movies. I'm surprised no one is properly funding them
no they are always funny especially when you get high and watch. the low amount of viewers and subs is insane they are studio quality. makes no sense the algorithm doing them dirty
@levichicwown9760 i had a bad reaction when i tried it once. i just threw up and felt terrible like my body was sick or something. i didnt really see anything odd other than the forrest ground moving like a wave. my friend was sitting right next to me, but the wave made it to where i couldnt see him just grass
I think they've always been this good. I think this was just a side hustle for a bunch of people working in NZ film and television industry but now it's their main hustle
It's a bit of both. They've always been this good, but recently the production value has gone through the roof.
I still want a redo of the no notepad skit when Alan just repeats the order back perfectly
Me too
I want this or I want another waiter to chase him out and yell "Alan you can't keep doing this you're the manager!"
That'd be awesome!
"......Anything else? Change your order one of more time, I dare you."
The next skit starting with the waiter repeating back orders got to me. Never woulda noticed that without the compilation.
Or gets aggravated when everyone skips getting the offer of the day known and he threatens them up close with a butter knife to listen to it.
The waiter pouring th3 water..omg.
At one point they switched i died..lol.
Omg. I had to go back and see that. I died
@@far22186 makes one dead man answering to another's comment, makes total sense.
SAME omg that killed me 🤣🤣🤣
VLDL is slowly making more and more relatable skits, it’s starting to get scary
so, do you get sh*t in your salad? Lol
I think the irony in that one is there is barely anything in. Caesar salad and they try to pass it off as some gourmet delicious. It’s literally stale bread, romaine lettuce, and cheese. He was lucky to get anchovies! The shit spruced it up! 😆😆
Their skits have always been relatable, theyre just expanding their target audience. At first it was retail employees, then gamers, now it's just "people who have eaten at a restaurant" which is a much larger group
VLDL has become self aware...we must head underground soon
Amazing that service industry “relatable” skits are just happening in 2022 lol. I don’t mean to be rude to you, but ask anyone in the SI and they’ll tell you that these are on point for IDK, the last 25 years or more lol. Did you know the standard SI minimum wage is $2.13/hr and it hasn’t been officially raised since the early 90s? I know most folks think tipping culture is stupid, but even knowing about it they’ll say “get a real job!” and use it as a defense to be a total piece of shit in a restaurant. People fucking suck.
Man, Ben makes for a perfect maniac. It’s so weird to see Rowan as normal too 😆. Also Allan and Adam had me dying of laughter in Top Up. Hilarious moment.
I love you all! Always entertaining!!
Ben does god-tier passive aggressive tones and expressions. Love it
@yes report this dude and don't click any links out of curiosity. Just visiting a page can start a download so don't risk it
Ben is such a great physical comedic actor. He always throws himself in 110% in every part he does.
Bens the best

Loved it! I ran a restaurant for years. We wouldn’t subject the birthday customer to our off key singing . But I would comp their dessert and put a candle in it.
Much more low-key, and without the horror of the singing compulsion. 😁
Would you also chase out singles at gunpoint, as is customary?
Yeeesss good on you, as a waitress who has worked in a few places with varying bday policies, I can say customers seem to always prefer a discreet complimentary drink or slice of cake to the embarrassing and forced spectacle of the staff singing at them
🤣🤣Loved this!!
VLDL has come a long way... from being a YT channel with hilarious skits, to being a YT channel with hilarious skits, impressive production quality, and seriously impressive acting. Love you guys!!!
“LOOK AWAY!! NOTHING TO SEE HERE!!” 😂😂😂😂 Hamish always brings it.
How these guys are not some of the biggest names in acting is criminal
@@Suchwerewolf totally agree❤️
I literally could not stop laughing at the “Full Service” sketch! 😂 It would be great if you guys could do another one, but this time where the waitstaff did take care of the conversation! They could manipulate Ben’s and Hamish’s mouths with their hands while making up a random conversation. You could even have them get into an argument. Rowan could slam Hamish’s fist down on the table while Ellie purses his lips and eyebrows into a scowl. Alan and Adam can pick Ben up and “storm” him out of the restaurant.
Ah, the awkwardness and anxiety when people try to force themselves to sing happy birthday or having the wrong food brought to you, inspite that it's extremely bothering at times and unpleasant for both sides (for the forced happy birthday singing) or feeling like you're complaining too much and being rude about wanting to inform the waiter that they brought you wrong food because you don't want to cause fuss. And then there's the talking behind people's backs trying, but let's be honest everybody does that in some way, definitely got me a bit anxious when I was working in a fast food chain restaurant. It all hits close to home.
Been there 💀
I’m definetly not going to a resturant next Friday 😱
@im good please report this comment as spam
But have u served a salad with shit?
Never do that, u want spit in ur food
The relatability of the skits, mixed with a degree of believable surrealism (is that even a thing but VLDL seems to nail it frequently), and the level of acting here - just incredible. So thankful we have VLDL!
As a former server, to be fair with Alan's skit at that chaotic point it probably doesn't matter if you're writing it down or not lmao
Especially when they constantly changing their orders
When I first watched this I was like, "I'd just leave" and he did just that.
As a former restaurant employee, this is why I keep it simple. The hassle, especially when dealing with multiple table can so irritating and confusing.
I could never have been a server. I don’t have the patience. I commend anyone that can do it for a long period of time.❤
agreed.....when Ben said he don't like when people order the same food as him....I was so angry
First skit already has me loving it! It goes from that creepy avoiding it like they're zombies and will swarm you if they heard birthday, to a funny and absolutely true twist that they don't want to sing it just as much as you want to hear it. So everybody hates it and it's just this terrifying experience for everybody involved.
"NO ONE EATS ALONE!" God, I love Ben. X'D
Especially when he turned mugger.
Oh my gosh I haven't laughed this hard in a long time. That "full service" skit was hilarious
I lost it when he switched with the waiter and started filling the water instead 😂
Same here. And right after they come at you with him pouring the water directly into his mouth. I wasn't even done laughing about the switch up.
Maaan , during that moment i lost ot too .... 🤣 And when the waiter started to pour water in his mouth i lost it even more
That was hilarious
And when brit was sitting on the waiter's thigh and Rowan and Ellie was looking at him like "what??!!" 🤣🤣🤣
@@krock2894 It's when Alan's waiter spirit kicks in
Introvert's worst dream. Having some strangers sing happy birthday to you while everyone else in the restaurant watches you. That's some cringe moments you'll never forget.
We never forget those experiences, ever. *flashback*
Introverts worst dream: birthdays, full stop
@@Suchwerewolf exactly! I literally deleted or hid my birth date from my social media cause only time my friends actually messaged me was on my birthday and I was like why do you even feel the need to do that. And this year my sister tried to force me to celebrate my birthday while I wasn’t interested in the slightest.
Introverts are fictional. Do you want human slaves to act like its a fictional birthday and/or are tortured into appearing/sounding like they are?
I love how singing happy birthday was a painful experience for everyone! Perfect!
The one were Alan poors water is my favorite. You guys always make me laugh so wholeheartedly. Keep up the great work!
Absolute Looney Toons! 😂
I actually really love the real life skits (Bored and the Restaraunt ones) just as much as the fantasy skit series, though I understand why most of the audience are much more used to Epic NPC Man more.
Given how the world is these days, probably safer/easier to do the fantasy ones. Never know when a joke gets overreacted to by a some oversensitive online people
@@GamefanaticzzWho Fukin' cares. Let 'em cry. Pissants
@@Gamefanaticzzjust ignore Muricans and you are fine
The one where he memorized all the order in his head and kept saying it was alright, I felt that lol
I worked at restaurants for years, genuinely laughed
"Happy Birthday" and "Top Up" are my favorites. Such ordinary, relatable scenarios, mixed with this sort of _slowly-building surrealistic horror,_ (which is also somehow totally relatable)... Fabulous. 👏👏👏
The Full Service was completely unexpected and funny, I laughed too much with Ben and Hamish
The birthday sketch is on point! This is exactly how i felt when i came to restaurant on my birthday because they had "20% off the check if it's a birthday". I didn't know they also played the birthday song very loudly, turned off the lights and full on paraded a piece of cake (with firecrackers and stuff) to a birthday person. It was a very fancy place with delicious, but expensive food and i came there to give myself a birthday present. ALONE. Because if i invited a company there, i'd have to eat dust bunnies for 2 month. They really overdid it with the birthday congradulations, probably expected a big tip. All that made me feel bad.
Edit: Yeap, the place was fancy with handtowels in the toilet, but they played a "free to download, no copyrights" version of a birthday song.
My favorite birthday place gave the table % off, equal to your age, with a 100% off limit.
So was worth it.
Sadly they are out business...
This has 69 likes😏
Shiiiiit, I can feel the cringe! My condolences!
And now imagine you are an introvert person
I’m pretty sure the birthday song is public domain now…
I nearly died from laughter when they swapped with the waiter and started pouring water like "What?" 😂
I've definitely had the eating by myself experience. It wasn't even at a fancy restaurant. It was super weird. Big shock, they went out of business.
I can't imagine that being such a big deal in Europe. I've come across this joke several times, but always from the US, now the first time from NZ. It's not that uncommon, especially on lunch brakes. But then, perhaps it requires lunch brakes long enough to allow going to the restaurant?
So freakin awkward...omg and uuuugggghhhhh...
@@countluke2334 from the U.S. have lived in multiple states...never was made to feel awkward for eating alone. I think a lot of it comes from being self-conscious
I do not understand why most people don’t eat alone. If I’m distracted by social anxiety I can’t really taste my food
(Yet I have never had anxiety about eating alone, which many healthy people apparently do 🤷♀️ eating alone is lovely, just block out all the people and read, meanwhile eating in a social context is a minefield labyrinth of pure horror )
People are sort of taken back or at least it seems like that. When I traveled alot for sales I would eat out alone semi frequently and its honestly super nice. You can eat at your pace and just relax. No need to waste time talking while your food sits and your ice melts.
Is it just me or is Hamish the most underrated of the bunch? Every skit he’s in is gold
The full service had me laughing, that head bang on the table must of hurt 😂
I haven’t been able to stop laughing for the past twenty minutes over that part😂 Poor Ben, he prolly had a crushing headache after that
Remember, they add the sound effects, it's not taken direct from scene, same as is done with Hollywood movies and TV shows. They can make it sound worse than it was.
@@jamesnwStill looked like it bloody well hurt
He “had” to do that several times too because Alan kept laughing during the takes 🤣 (from the blooper reel on patreon)
I don't know what I love more in VLDL guys. The comedy, the chemistry, or the fact that they swap girlfriends all the time.
That birthday one is the ultimate betrayal.
I'm definitely Rowan when it comes to shared plates.
I've never had more genuine laughs from a single group of people. Heck, I don't even comment, nor do I have any social media, so it's a bit odd for me to comment here. But I just had to take the time out to say that this is my favorite channel on UA-cam right now! Keep up the great work guys (Thanks) 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
A great way to start my day. I manage a steakhouse in the States and cannot wait to show this to the staff before service.
How’d it go? 😂
@@linda-0587They all quit 💢🔪
Rowans condescending look while singing the happy birthday song is absolutely wonderful
The most awkward thing ever was when I had china food, and when finished I walked out, without realizing I actually had forgotten to pay (it's common to pay in advance). The server came running after me, shouting "Pay! You pay!". I paid. 😶😂
Hoooo. U thief.. hoooo no no no..
I would of ran terrified..
"china food"
lol I believe the word you were looking for was Chinese

@@NonsensicalSpudz "china food" is actually a direct translation of how we say it in swedish... it's shorter ;)
"NO ONE EATS ALONE!!" my favorite line xD
Man, number 2 I’ve experienced the less crazy version. I had a job traveling 50 weeks a year for work and that tends to leave you single.
‘Can I get a table?’
‘Tables are only for parties.’
‘This place is empty’
‘We can seat you at the bar.’
‘Ooookay. I guess my laptop can enjoy soaking up the spilled liquor left from god knows how long ago… great, thanks.’
Second version:
‘We can get you a booth’
‘I’m by myself, you guys look pretty packed. I don’t mind one of the small tables.’
‘Oh, it’s no problem!’
I’m sitting there eating and a family of four is glaring daggers at me.
Sorry y’all… only place they’d seat me. At this point, I’d bloody scoot over if it would help.’ 😓
On the second one;
That's how you make new friends!
@@NarwahlGaming done that at airports and plenty of events and you’re totally right!
Unfortunately, I didn’t have time to socialize or I would have been late for work.
@@NarwahlGaming I was thinking the same thing. My dad is very extroverted, he would have insisted they come join him, while in introverted, and would have just stopped eating and left as fast as I could.
I finally feel understood... the Top Off skit and especially the Shared Plate skit are spot on... Thank you! Another shared plate issue is the fact that everyone else in the party get snotty about your decision to not pay double the price for a quarter of the food.
I know this is only a few episodes, but I really hope they turn this into a series, like Bored or Epic NPC. I've seen all the episodes already, and I was still laughing my @$$ off the whole time.
18:46 I relate to the shared plate situation so much. It is a pain having to navigate who can and can't or won't eat what. Especially when you specifically ordered that plate of shrimp mayonnaise and end up not eating it because some people don't have the decency to wait until everyone has had their share, and just vacuums everything into their gob!
Well technically all I would do is order what I want and if someone doesn’t like it to bad, don’t have any.
the full service one is perfect. ben acting. rowan's accepting face. oh bravo guys
Your commitment to these roles is really astounding. The full service bit, well done mates.
Ben plays such a great villain/bad guy, but I bet he's hilarious in real life.
If you watch their dnd series, he is definitely hilarious especially with his shit rolls.
Even with the restaurant series, they can turn something mundane into pure horror .
All the skits are amazing
Ben and Hamish were exceptional 🔥❤️
22:39 onward absolutely kills me. the comedic timing is just insane and then when he asks hamish what he wants and turns his head up to look hahaha 🤣. legends
the new restaurant series in the channel is starting to one of my favourites since it is too retable, except of the poo on the salad
What, you never get poo on your salad? Who is the degenerate that owns that restaurant?!
Yet ...
@@Moredhel83 a well suited dog and a goose
the full service sketch at the end is one of the most interesting, unique, and hilarious ideas in all sketch comedy ive seen, well done!
I still think they should do a horror themed logic series. Just go off of all the clichés
Check out Dead by Daylight series then
16:13 I love how Adam stops the proposal then it cuts to Adam dating her 😆
All are great actors, but Ben is always at a different level, he's the best among them in acting
may be not THE BEST but gets few points for charisma. Ben and Alan are my favs
Ben and Byron for me are always phenominal
Outrageous!
Imo acting chops list goes like this: Alan, Adam, Hamish, Ellie, Ben, Byron.
Rowan is also one of the top actors. If you don't know he was in Avatar movie
Thankfully, I have only been subjected to the horror of the restaurant birthday song once. That is the least obnoxious one that I have heard, though.
Hamish's expression for the birthday song is just pure unfettered dread and horror. Its the perfect embodiment of the 2 feelings that I have seen in quite awhile!
I just love all of Hamish's characters. Hes one of my favorite cast members!
How do you guys all know who is who? I've recently started binging their stuff and I haven't caught any of their names
As someone that works in food service everyday, I thank thee for the hard work put into this. This is just phenomenal. So many points touched here... just perfect.
18:28 that hushed "I'm scared."
I mean fuck, I hope that the Monty Python troupe sees your work because you do very, very funny stuff.
11:38 As someone who is lactose and gluten intolerant I appreciate the honesty of #4. Eat the wrong food, crap yourself 😂😂🤣
Work in a restaurant now. Never trust restaurants.
Coming back to watch all the skits again, they’re even better than I remembered! The restaurant actually looks super nice as well ngl
Oh God the first one is so relatable!!
Also we need more restaurant skits! :D
Extremely well written and performed!!!! Bravo! I was sobbering along with everyone in the first sketch. Adam is a genious!
Dining alone is bad enough when all the deals are two for one, not just half price. Now VLDL rubs salt into the wounds.
They want to make money on people taking their time and getting multiple drinks and appetizers/desserts. Not someone looking for a simple meal and leaving shortly after.
@@blakexi3731 it makes no sense. Just think of all the long string of single people they could clear out quickly and fill the table again. I always thought it was an image problem. When all the tables are only 1/4 full, the whole place looks 1/4 full, and therefore bad for publicity.
this is one of the best. especially the refill
everything is top notch in this one. scrip, camera, sound, acting etc
I love how when she eats the shellfish she leans back and in the next scene her face is as white as a ghost.
15:51 "Wait what?" got me
I lost it when Alan was pouring the water.
The Poo skit is just about saying $hit. LOL
The share plate.. lol I agree with Rowan.. 😳
The Full Service.. the treatment of Ben by Adam and Alan is hilarious 🤣😆😂😄
Number 7 explains Number 6.
No wonder Adam is blocking Alan's proposal. He is having an affair with Britt. And Rowan found out, hence the shit meal.
*GENIUS!!*
The singles table was beyond hilarious. Ben played the slowly losing his sanity so well!
That was an act?
13:40 I've only just noticed that Adam never even took the empty plates away 😅
this was a soul crushing moment. and a traumatic experience for both hamish and his GF and the staff of the resturant
I haven't laughed this hard in months, thank you guys very much! The bit at the end killed me.
Oh my god the people pleasing behavior in "Allergy" triggered me sooooo bad. Well done you guys
Worked in a few restaurants before college and this is so accurate. But barely scratch the surface. This series can go for ages. Maybe get into the kitchen, management parking lot, on next episodes would be great too. Table for 1, so sad, what an ass. 😆😆😆
Checkout Drew Talbert on Bistro Huddy, you'd love it
ikr, who would be insensitive enough to get a table for one?
When I'm having a bad day or week. I just appreciate everyone's effort in bringing such awesome, amazing skits. It's just hilarious. An everyones acting is just top notch 👌.
Considering everything that happens in Playtech... I found the funniest thing was Alan referring to Rowan as his best friend...
From the first skit: I used to feel like he does when something would bring attention to me in public places (and sometimes even for no reason), but like 100x worse. Wellbutrin toned it down to normal levels.
As a person who works in a restaurant but not a server, 70% of all tables were alone
Man I feel so bad but hamish plays such a sad, awkward character. He’s my favourite when it comes to the skits
Let's be honest, we all knew Rowan was the the chef dropping deuces on the salads.
kkkkkk "The whole thing?" kkkkkkkkkk
All good skits….but that “full service” sketch totally killed me, my sides are aching. Brilliant guys!
Ben always acts like a " necessary evil" 😆❤️
Best UA-cam channel I’ve watched yet keep up these good videos!
adam re-filling the water non stop had me dying hahahahahaha
I've just got to say for the last skit the physical acting was incredible. It's very hard to go fully limp like that.
9:00 "You can't just run off like that, you're the manager!"
the waiter water skit was too funny. i chuckled twice. when alan had the pitcher and was like "wait wtf" and then the end when adam poured it into his mouth lol
I couldn't imagine living in a country where critizism is considered bad form. I also wonder what it must be like to live in a country where the waiter happily refills your water. ;)
super interesting to see VLDL is now extending into the restaurant scene. They even bought a whole restaurant!
Can't stop laughing on Top up and full service LOL. specifically on this part @22:52
Top Up, The Poo and Full Service are top notch comedy content. Absolutely brilliant writing and acting. Just wow :)
Can we just appreciate the work they put into their AMAZING videos😁

Read the room mate is the greatest most perfect line ever.
It feels so strange to see Rowan being a normal human being XD
21:06 Here's what's best FOR ALL -good ol water
I feel like full service skit was an excuse for Alan to bash Ben's head off a table many times.
Video #2 is so fucking brilliantly acted and made. I absolutely love the insanity of it and how it's portrayed.
