I'm curious about the history of biodiverse hedgerows in Africa. I understand colonial occupation varied on a nation-to-nation basis, but I know that England took it upon herself to occupy a vast amount of Africa, so I was wondering if their long tradition of building hedgerows to divide pastoral grazing plots was taken to the continent as well. I understand that Africa is suffering from a lack of farming resources while being assaulted by desertification, so I didn't know if implementation of hedgerow along contoured swale or rock lines could provide ample free fencing and windbreak for the pastoral/cropland in between.
