However, they needed my details, and a doctor asked which gender I was assigned at birth. I explained that sex/gender is determined at conception and at birth they simply recorded my sex as male. I got the impression that both the doctor and the nurse were not on board with the question, and just went along with it. They each said something along the lines of “Yes I know, we have to ask this question”. How does this scientifically illiterate nonsense get into the NHS of all places?

As someone who's from Ireland I can tell you that our apparent lack of political change from our recent election is, in my eyes at least, largely down to immense apathy mixed with a total lack of a credible alternative. There isn't an equivalent to a Reform for example, who are at least keeping our neo liberal elite somewhat honest in terms of being flanked from the right in opinion polling.

Hopefully a return to the 'if you're decent to me, I'll be decent to you' attitude is returning.
