- Urchin Point on Dirk Hartog Island is another one of my spiritual oases, a home away from home. In this episode I chase baldies off the point, on spear and line, and end up having a dream session with a nice 69cm baldchin groper in epic conditions.
This is living the dream!

Hi mate love your videos but maybe im being selfish but over the years way back to your videos from Gnaraloo , Red bluff , Quobba and now Dirk Hartog your giving all me favourite spots away.
Haha, well we share good taste. Good luck to anyone who can make it out, put up with the weather, the absolutely brutal landscape, the remoteness and everything else, and enjoy themselves!
I know I love it.
👍 Magic moments. Love your enthusiasm Carlisle.
Cheers mate - I worked hard for the sunny days!
Brilliant mate, congratulations on your Blue Bone, great eating... 👍
Thanks for watching Russ!
Keep em coming!
That’s the plan mate! Cheers for watching!
Gday Carlisle, great episode mate, what a great fish to follow after that monster snapper from last episode, just wondering are those waves in the backround surfable or is the reef to shallow there, regardless I'd imagine it would be pretty daunting paddling out there being so far from civilisation, anyway mate good on you you've had a crackin time on that island, can't wait to get there myself one day...... On another note I took your tip on insulating the roof of my troop.. Wow what a difference, I sound deadened and insulated the floor 18mths ago with a good result, just did the roof a few weeks ago can't believe how much better again it's made it so thanks for that👍👍
Chris - thanks so much for watching and saying g'day! That wave is definitely surfable. Check it here: ua-cam.com/video/28hShcehocE/v-deo.html
I am not game to paddle out onto that wave without a ski to get back out of the water...and really it's a bit heavy for me. I have had a few run ins with urchins in my feet, and you are a loooong way from civilisation here.
Glad your Troopy is coming along. Yeah, makes them feel like a real modern car instead of a homemade tractor.
Any clue if it’s easy to get in and out the water at this point break to actually surf it ? It looks way too perfect 🤩
You can get in and out. You will lose some skin/ get a few urchin souvenirs. Been there done that…
Fairly easy to get in and out for a surf just make sure you wear boots as its not called urchin point for nothing.
