A similar situation is occurring with an elected Pickering, Ontario City Counsellor Lisa Robinson who is being investigated and punished (1 months pay) all for the crime of trying to bring forward 3 issues of concern on behalf of her constituents, none of which were allowed to be brought forward and voted on. The 3 issues were as follows: 1. A motion to prohibit the flying of special interest flags on Municipal Property. 2. A motion to restrict drag story hour events to adults only. 3. A motion to have a female only changeroom, a male only changeroom, and a universal changeroom for families and others. Apparently - just bringing those motions forward is "transphobic", and enough to get punished by the "integrity commissioner" an unelected, unaccountable office that can penalize a councillor by investigating them, embarrassing them, and docking their pay up to 3 months. In short they are judge, jury, and executioner, and they are being used to silence Councillors who stand up against the Woke Agenda being perpetrated at all levels of our government. In short these unelected commissioners are circumventing democracy, and preventing good councillors from doing their jobs.
Regarding residential schools, I listened to a Metis Lawyer being interviewed by Stephen LeDrew regarding these institutions and he said they came about by the request of Indigenous peoples, after the treaties who wanted their children the opportunity to learn and benefit as other children in Canada could and because of the distances and feasibility of being to send these children to a local school the government was requested to have Residential schools built to accommodate them. He also pointed out that the parents had to register their children in order to go and said there are files that contain that information. The Lawyer stated that no one was forced to go without Parental approval or registration. They also, went home for all holidays along with Spring and Summer breaks. However, many did not remain and many returned home after Grade 1, according to him, as they either found it difficult to be away for a long time or it didn't fit with their lifestyle of hunting and trapping.
@@maureyrca Found it, posted on LeDrew's channel on Apr 5 2024. The lawyer's name is Greg Piasetzki. He said 200 day schools and 80 residential schools were built by the gov-t upon request from indigenous groups signing the treaties. Greg mentioned that of the kids were sent to the residential schools as a child welfare measure "because of alcohol at home, a violent home or they weren't being taken care of properly". Would that explain most, if not all, cases where RCMP may have been involved?
That "game of telephone" burnt down several dozen churches, that same "game of telephone" has led to assaults, that same "game of telephone" has led to the fracturing of any reconciliation between Canadians and the Natives.
It's also important to recognize that residential schools were not universally houses of horror and the architects and vast majority of staff not evil in intent. Many parents wanted their kids to go to residential schools and many kids had good experiences. There was recently an article in the Post about one such former student. This doesn't excuse incidents of abuse that apparently really happened - as has happened in other schools and in other situations in the past. While I don't doubt that egregious things happened at times, the book points out that many schools were built at the request of First Nations' parents and they were built on reserves in sight of where the children's parents lived. Parents were invited to attend school functions such as plays or presentations. Regarding John Robertson, perhaps the word 'Exaggeration' would have been a better choice than 'hoax'. Food was often scarce - everywhere. Totally agree with what you said. The way the media in this country portrays every issue is at best negligent or incompetent, and at worst (and far too often) driven by social or political agenda. So many issues are being misrepresented and its leading to anger, hostility, and division in our society. The way they handled the "mass graves" story was arguably the most egregious example of it. Off topic, but another good example was their coverage of Hockey Canada and their funds to cover lawsuits from people who were abused. The media reported that they had over $7 million set aside to pay off victims, and made it seem like there were a bunch of hockey players running rampant and hurting women. That has happened, and its disgusting and unacceptable, but the truth is that most of the money was set aside to compensate PLAYERS who had been abused by COACHES who were employed by Hockey Canada! So the group the media had portrayed at the abusers were actually the ones who had largely been abused. It's disgraceful.
I totally agree with your take on this…..where is the freedom of expression if we just let things like this slide. I’m so proud to be a supporter of your great work for Canadians! Keep up the great work.
I love walking through old pioneer villages, and have been to many. Both here in Canada and in the states. We need to keep in mind that these villages are often very small. Schools, churches, and graveyards were often next to each other.
What about the people who were not allowed to go on buses ,trains, and go to restaurants,to have dinner etc l, because they were not vaxxed? this whole not vaxxed problem separated my family and did some permanent damage with how I feel about them. What about those damages ? I feel this was criminal.😢😢
I have a close indigenous family friend who maintains that though not ideal, the residential school he and many he knows, went through, saved their lives. They surely would not be alive now if sent back to their family's and home due to horrible conditions there.
The key word here is "unpopular" and that word is on a list of words that only the self righteous believe they can legislate. Who is to decide what "unpopular" is just like who decides what "hate speech" is? We could go on and on about these words that may or may not hurt people's feelings and still come back to the fundamental right to speak. Certain people (and at differing times that could mean all people) hear something they find offensive and they go off on a tangent on what happens next and next and then next until they've written a mini pulp fiction novel. (That mini novel is also free speech.) Crushing free speech affects ALL people and we should make no mistake about it.
This is another one of those cases, that if heard about through the media, people would think it’s not that big a deal, but the repercussions down the road could be absolutely huge. Good for you guys. As for city councils, they seem to be more and more over reaching, and they already have far more power over our lives than most people realize, and yet they constantly get voted in by a handful of people. Sometimes just their own family is enough. We should all start taking an active interest in local politics.
Thanks for taking the time to diligently word your viewpoint from a place of non-bias - it really is a potential field of landmines where this topic is concerned... Good work Christine, thank you on all our behalves.
It is important to set aside self-righteous indignation for clarifying the core of the problem at stake, and the stakes are high in a country like Canada, where most of its citizens cannot determine the difference of saying unpopular things and saying the truth. Our educational system is setting us in trouble by introducing emotional biases that end up in foggy indignations, promoting victimhood for any reason, and paralyzing rational responses to actual problems. Yes, the residential schools was a heinous abuse of government power against aboriginals, and the only thing we can do now is to create checks and balances to protect the living citizens from the gestation of similar abuses to human rights now and in the future.

I've lived in a small town all my life and I have learned that small towns have small minds. Those that are in charge seem to have let their jobs go to their heads and become self-righteous little dictators.
I agree with you on this matter. As a Maritimer, I can only imagine how uncomfortable his life has been for simply wanting to have a conversation about something that was reported as truth that horrified Canadians that we now know to be untrue. Especially in a town that small. His enemies need to get some hobbies instead of hiring their retired buddy to investigate whether the code of conduct was broken. It wasn't the wisest thing to put the sign up when he did but I can tell you that even the Federal public servants in this country aren't investigated for a possible breach of a code of conduct by the RCMP for something like that. I'd say there's history between them, and this was a cheap way for those other councilors to throw him under the bus or used it as a means to virtue signal. This country is such a pitiful example of what it used to be. The MSM should correct their report and tell the truth!
So, all the horrible and terrible things that the RCMP has done throughout the years and even to this day is terrible in your words, yet your solution is... the RCMP. You're not as smart person are you?
@fahqahsowl6498 Do you understand that I was saying that it was ridiculous for the councilors in PEI to involve a retired RCMP officer do an investigation because of a sign on the lawn?
Agreed. PET did us no favors with that trainwreck piece of legal gibberish. And the nut didn't fall far from the tree....we now have his offspring writing laws censoring internet communications.
This mans’ problem started with an ex cop “investigating”! Law enforcement agencies are renowned for investigating themselves and finding no wrongdoing! My guess is the ex cop found exactly what the council hired him to find!
I agree with your opinion, that said unfortuantly, brief phrases put up on a billboard are open to interpretation. I am personally sick of the whole indigenise movement and how our children are being bombarded with this. I feel very strongly that people began taking down J.A. MacDonald's statue which is like tearing down the statue of George Washington. This is an example of cancel culture gone nuts.
here's an unpopular opinion: there are native children who grew up and spoke out saying they had positive experiences in residential schools with good teachers and caregivers, access to sports and music that otherwise would not have been available, but those voices are shot down and silenced by people who just want to perpetrate a story that EVERYTHING was bad in EVERY residential school. The concept came from britain where all children were required to be educated, and came over into Canadian law, and guess what? Children are STILL required to be educated now, though there are ways to get approved curriculums for home schooling that would not have been possible back then.
Very well done, Christine. It can be difficult to speak on sensitive issues such as this but you did it just fine. John needs to be vindicated for his right to his opinion as we all have the right too.
It's good to be independent. I will not comply with unreasonable demands. Was the same during the attempted violations of my bodily autonomy and is the same with attempts to censor me. Thanks for all your efforts from the prairies.
Freedom of speech does not need laws to be protected. Laws are created to protect people from offensive speech. Don't be mad though, you've voted for this.
I think the residential school story needs to be told with much more historical context. When the program was first introduced formal education for the population was extremely limited. The focus on "taking children away" overshadows the incredible opportunity for advancement they were offered. Furthermore, the rates of infant mortality in those days was extremely high across the entire population, not just inside the schools. The narrative is completely devoid of context and promotes ignorance of the true history of the building of our nation. It's disgraceful that churches are burned and people are ashamed of what was intended an act of kindness and charity towards the native population.

Agree with you 100%
Good golly Miss Molly. To even ask such a question!!!
You’re going to earn a spot on Trudeau’s naughty list.
God bless the team of the CCF.Amen
What gets me is: why would a town of fewer than 300 residents need at least 4 councillors in addition to a mayor? Over-governed much?
cuz no one reads stuff so you need more than one councillor or the mayor will run everything like a dictator
Thank you for your reporting. I support the municipal representative John and his sign.
Great work !!! Always a pleasure to watch the work you do
The key word here is "unpopular" and that word is on a list of words that only the self righteous believe they can legislate.
We have the RIGHT of FREEDOM given to us from God. We all do NOT think alike and NO human can change theses FACTS!
Good to hear. I guess that means you're all for the abolition of the Canadian Constitution... right?
Thank you for everything you do. Scientific proof is no longer accepted in public opinion. The inmates are littlerly running the asylum in Canada 😢
why have we all been committed to this asylum? did we agree to it
You are a wise person ❤
Thank you for this commentary - it was excellent. People need to recognize that self censorship and suppression of information damages society.
CVG: you are a valuable team member of the CCF with a gift for delivering, in plain language, the key constitutional issues independent of the lesser topic involved. We see this here, with the freedom convoy and other cases. While I wish you the best in your future career I do hope you remain with the CCF.
You are right on!!
I've lived in a small town all my life and I have learned that small towns have small minds. Those that are in charge seem to have let their jobs go to their heads and become self-righteous little dictators.
I found the opposite
I had no idea we had the right to freedom of information. Thank you for the info.
Great show. Thank you for fighting for our rights.
@@fahqahsowl6498 I was not advocating for RCMP involvement...
@@pmartin6086 Sure you did. You seem to know the ins and outs of the rcmp. That means you advocate for them.
@@fahqahsowl6498😂
@fahqahsowl6498 Do you understand that I was saying that it was ridiculous for the councilors in PEI to involve a retired RCMP officer do an investigation because of a sign on the lawn?
Thank you 💗
They'll still take your kids today, but for a totally different reason.
Thank you for your work.
I worned Canada about it decades ago 🙄
Thank you 👍😊
It should if it doesn't.
Our hero.
Unfortunately the ridiculous preamble to the charter puts every single "right and freedom" at risk
Agreed. PET did us no favors with that trainwreck piece of legal gibberish. And the nut didn't fall far from the tree....we now have his offspring writing laws censoring internet communications.
The charter might as well be written on toilet paper
Great. So you want to abolish the Canadian Constitution... right?
Do you know the difference between the Charter and the Constitution? The Charter and both Trudeaus use the first one to undermine the second one.
@@deanl6613 You do realize that the OP was talking about the US Constitution, right?
Keep up the great work..
I also agree . I wouldn't have wrote what he wrote but he has that Right. we are losing our rights.
CCF rock !!! 💜💜💜 thank you
Belief is more powerful than facts. Especially, after the belief is created by emotions.😢
I love your new look!
I knew these "Codes of Conduct" were going to be used like this from the moment I started hearing about them!
Alberta stand up for MEN WOMEN CHILDREN ❤
There is no justice without truth
There is no true reconciliation without the truth
There is no truth without justice
There can only be one truth
Wow just discovering you. Thank you!
This mans’ problem started with an ex cop “investigating”!
Law enforcement agencies are renowned for investigating themselves and finding no wrongdoing! My guess is the ex cop found exactly what the council hired him to find!
Congratulations, you've discovered exactly how government works.
Agreed. Totally vindictive.
If the retired cop had concluded any differently, would they have buried it and found another to fufill their biases? Me thinks yes.
@@kennorthunder2428 I think that's naiive
@@pmartin6086 Sorry, my failure in logic.
I believe in freedom! Thank you for all the great work your foundation does. Keep it up...we need you more than ever, now.
Try it's a revolution
As usual. Thanks for telling the truth for us centrists.
here's an unpopular opinion: there are native children who grew up and spoke out saying they had positive experiences in residential schools with good teachers and caregivers, access to sports and music that otherwise would not have been available, but those voices are shot down and silenced by people who just want to perpetrate a story that EVERYTHING was bad in EVERY residential school. The concept came from britain where all children were required to be educated, and came over into Canadian law, and guess what? Children are STILL required to be educated now, though there are ways to get approved curriculums for home schooling that would not have been possible back then.
Absolutely for dissent is the cornerstone of democracy
Thank you for sharing this history, all the evil history need to be known. Good and bad.
Very well done, Christine. It can be difficult to speak on sensitive issues such as this but you did it just fine. John needs to be vindicated for his right to his opinion as we all have the right too.
Good work !!
It's good to be independent.
I will not comply with unreasonable demands. Was the same during the attempted violations of my bodily autonomy and is the same with attempts to censor me.
Thanks for all your efforts from the prairies.
Good work!
Freedom of speech is of utmost importance
It is to protect offensive speech
Freedom of speech does not need laws to be protected. Laws are created to protect people from offensive speech. Don't be mad though, you've voted for this.
*Love the message he put on his own sign. Very true message 👌👍👏*
Well done 👍
