@Tressa Exactly. I don't think rose roots are so easy to die. They are tough bunch. So, for ppls who want to transplant, as long as you don't just lift the stems, they'd be ok. You don't have to use the shovel THAT WAY.
LOL... fragile roots. My aunt asked me to move a rose bush (which we hoped would kill it) so that my grandmother could see it when she became sick. I dug out the root as much as I could and after digging down two feet I cut the root off and transplanted it. Figured the root left behind would die... The following year I had two bushes.
Can't wait to get my rose transplanted! Is it ok to use an old hollowed out stump as a kind of natural pot? It's old. It's dying. The rose bush is really small.
I have a rose bush that I need to move. But I'm nervous about doing it. My grandfather gave it to my mother the day I was born. It's been in the ground for 43 years. It's against a brick wall. Mom has died and I've moved to Texas it is currently in Louisiana. Her house is going to become a rent house for government housing. I know renters don't take care of stuff. It would be nice if somebody with experience could help me make sure there's a good transplant.
Roses are often hardier than they are often talked about. Follow the steps here when digging it up, wrap the root ball with some plastic and keep moist until you get it home and have the chance to plant it. I have a rose that had just been lopped off at the base by someone and there was only two little scraggly roots left at best. I planted it anyway, kept it well watered and made sure soil was moist. This was two months ago, and it's now getting ready to bloom.
Adrya Webb can I ask you , will it survive If it’s not replanted within a few hours ? We are moving from one house to another and are taking a rose bush my husband got me when our first child was born. It’s in our contract 🤣. Our concern is actually getting into the ground on moving day with all we will have going on.

really think a trellis in front of chain link would be better for a climber - training to the chain link is not as fun as it sounds (been there done that - replanted in friends yard and restarted mine in a sunny corner w/ it's own split rail fence🙂peonies aren't crazy about being relocated need a while to recover if you're forced to move them
And screw the neighbor - as soon as her rose grows up a bit, it's going to block the light his rose was getting and kill it. But who cares about him? It's his own fault for living next to her!
Start: Use the shovel that way, so we don't disturb the roots.
Finish: Doesn't matter, as long as we can lift it up.

Poor rose bush I hope it’s alive still
Wrong time of year. Once rose is out place in bucket of water so dry out is stopped . Cut back once planted
Perfect! I'm looking to move exactly a rose and peony. Great vid!

He was a little rough with the rest of her garden. made me cringe when they were digging out the rose bush.
"Real heavy soil here...". LoL. Come to my yard. I'll show you heavy soil.
They are talking about that rose like its some sacred relic.$20 at the home center gets you a new one.

Remember to dig away to not disturb the roots… next frame he’s hacking away
