I spend a lot of time to create these kind of videos. I hope you appreciate the hard work. Let me know if you want more!
TheFlightChannel absolutely I do
Ofcourse we want more! This is the best serie ever! I am here Because of This serie.

Can you make a video about Air New Zealand Flight 901 ? I love this kind of Videos!!!

TheFlightChannel Incredible work!!! Want to see more videos like this!!!
Can we have a moment of applauding the pilots and there mastery they managed to crash the plane so smoothly that they saved many lives
Props to the Captain. I would've done exactly what he'd done out of instinct: effectively release just enough forward energy by raising the flaps slightly to lob the plane over the boundary fence. It caused a harder landing short of the runway but at least they didn't come short of the actual boundary.
As a retired Airline Captain with only a couple of minor emergencies over a 30 year career, I love your videos, keep it up please!
!
effemess me too
I am 11yr old, DEFINATELY NOT A CAPTAIN, but I also love the vids.
What's happened then? Could you tell us here please?
If your really a pilot what does the rudder do?
The WWE clips Pretty sure everyone knows what the rudder does...
As a retired airline pilot, these videos send chills down my spine. The GPWS verbal alerts bring back many memories.
I wanna like but it’s at 69
As a retired passenger, me too!
As a soon-to-be navy pilot, same!
How many years did you fly?
Those pilots deserve the awards, they saved all the passengers and crew by keeping cool heads and not making snap decisioms (which couldn't have been easy NOT to do when facing a plane crash and your own potential impending death).
Another excellent video, very well done! 👍🏽👍🏽
@@santiagomendez-roelofs1918 That's why he said "the awards"...
Finally, an accident that didn't blame the pilots for the slushy fuel!
@Antonio Bromelini Same thing happen to Sully. They tried everything to deliberately blame him for that amazing landing just to save a few bucks. Figures huh?
@@cmcer1995 actually they didmt blame sully they added it to the sully movie to increase the time of the movie. Also
they believed everything that's sully said
Peter Burkhill was sacked by BA, and couldn't get a job elsewhere because of BA actions, he was eventually reinstated by BA when he threatened to take them to tribunal. BA were a disgrace in this crash.
@Antonio Bromelini Why blame him then give him a medal?🤨
@@PMJ4 I met Capt Burkhill when he returned to fly again, we were catering the aircraft as he came onboard, a hero and a perfect gentleman...
The attention to detail is amazing! I was in the second aircraft behind this one when it made its emergency landing. We were already well established on our approach to LHR. We banked very severely to port and began to climb as we made our way to the holding pattern and were then diverted to RAF Manston. What was incredible was that five days later we flew out of LHR on 27L and saw the 777 out of the port side windows. Even snapped a photo on my mobile!
I've taken this flight from 北京 Beijing (not Beijin as in the screen title at the beginning) many times over the past 18 years and was on BA38 two weeks after this incident; it was flawless! I must compliment the AAIB for the thoroughness of their investigation of this incident as I always wondered what happened on this flight. Three cheers to the flight crew of his flight; they were awesome!! Great video re-enactment by the way and kudos to the channel owner!!
Oh, one of the whizzy early camera phones eh!
We’re you on the Qatar flight
speedbird 479 or qatari 011?
Respect to the captains of this flight
Yep, Pilots kept their heads and flew superbly. Bravo !
Lots of respect
Hats off those guys
I agree
@@johnt7630 Yep totally agree , those guys were dealt a poor hand and still came out on top . That event could have been so much more worst
The first officer had an unfortunate last name. John Coward. Although in this situation has sure as hell wasn’t a coward.
Indeed - he was certainly no coward in this situation, more like a hero
There's an old movie from MGM called The Password is Courage. The hero in that movie was called Charlie Coward.
Yet, he was treat like crap from BA
Yeah. He comes from a family of cowards
@@forza223bowe5 no he wasn't you clot, where did you get that?
It is very lucky that this was not fatal.
SomeAviationGuy gj
indeed
A little more distance and we would not be discussing this maybe.
Larry Be Imagine it failed earlier on, it would have been catastrophic. There would have been many places the plane could land
It wasn’t lucky the pilots retracted the flaps to glide longer

It's truly impressive how they can go through the process and figure out what exactly happened and that no one died.
It was a difficult one.
To avoid ice crystals reaching the engine injectors, a heat exchanger heats the fuel to above the freeing point of water. This is a shell and tube barrel device similar to a steam boiler in operation, where about 30 tubes run through a heated outer shell. To avoid slush or debris blocking the inlet, the input tubes extend a short distance beyond the faceplate of the shell. However, as the shush built up in this area, it refrigerated the short stubs. In turn, once the area between the faceplate and the ends of the tube was full, the slush had to pass though these refrigerated stubs where it froze solid preventing further fuel from entering the heat exchanger.
It was concluded that stubs prevented a danger in this situation and they were removed.
It was also feared the lines between the tanks and heat exchangers could block solid in certain conditions, since while the volume in the tanks stabilised the temperature, the fuel lines were subject to the immediate ambient temperature, plus primary refrigeration from evaporating rain and wind (similar to pouring nail varnish remover on your hand and blowing on it).
The lines were redesigned, moved away from the leading edge or the wings and insulated.
End of todays science lesson. 😊😊😊
i really love it when there's no fatalities! great video, I'm learning so much!
The best feeling at the end of your amazing videos is to read: EVERYONE SURVIVES :-) just discovered, and subscribed to, your channel some weeks back, so got a lot of catching up to do :) Congrats for the lovely work!
Amazing - despite all our advances in technology, a mere quirk of nature can doom us!
Also - great videography, dude; you're a star!
Your efforts are CERTAINLY appreciated (and I know NOTHING about the technicalities involved in flying)! I watch every one of your videos, as they are released!
Well done pilots, you saved so many lives onboard and on the ground, thank God. They earned their medal. Have to admit I held my breath there
The aircraft wouldn’t and didn’t descend faster with Flap 25, that’s the whole point of Burkhill raising the Flap one notch. Flap 30 was a draggy Flap setting for very minimal extra lift. Getting rid of the extra Flap in theory and in practicality in this event would stretch out the glide enough to get within the airfield perimeter with minimal loss of height. Time to go back to the Principles of Flight textbooks ;-)
Nick Cockayne
Was there anything else that the pilots could have done at that point to get the extra few feet needed to keep the plane from being short of the runway.
Seems like if they wouldn't have had a headwind they would have made it onto the runway. Sooooooo close to a pretty safe landing!
Flap 20 and risk a hard landing, possible undercarriage breaking
TheMightyHarihar
Be interesting to try that using a flight simulator using that setting with the other data put in being the same.
The captain wanted airspeed but not so much that the undercarriage would break up on landing, I think at flaps 20 he would have hit the runway but hard.
I know someone who flies the 777 and he told me that this was recreated in their simulator. If I remember correctly he said that had the pilots raised the flaps to 15 degrees and lowered the nose to gain speed the airplane would gotten into what he called ground effect. His basic explanation of ground effect is that it is a cushion of air under the wings that the airplane has near the ground. Had they done that immediately they could have made the runway. In the recreation in the simulator they knew the engines were going to quit and they knew exactly what to do. The BA pilots didn't have the luxury. He said the BA pilots did a great job in that emergency.
That’s why the British lead the way in standards, calm professional got the job done with top class skill. We’ve always set the standards in most things and will continue hence why I fly British, hats off to the pilots 🤝 class 👍🏻
The Captain saved them by changing the flaps to give them more range at the end.
it said that switching from 30 to 25 it would decrease faster..
@@P71ScrewHead The stall speed at 25 is lower than at 30 so it stopped the aircraft stalling at the lower speed.
@@barrysteven5964 oh ok kool..

@@cmartin_ok yep
The guy is doing it with a flight simulator. Maybe he did it for aesthetic reasons. Maybe his software wouldnt let him come in on 27L for whatever reason. This is like correcting someone's spelling or grammar unnecessarily. It's super rude when someone puts in a lot of time or work or has written something and made a good point and you correct them on something small and insignificant like spelling or grammar when the key points and words and message is still very clear. If the mistake does not do anything to change the story or negate the point and their work, why waste your time correcting them? What sort of response do you envision yourself getting? An "Oh, you're right. I'm wrong, you must be very smart and/or experienced to pick up on that." No. You probably werent the only one who noticed but were the only one who chose to say anything. You making this point changes literally nothing. Story the same and visual not changed enough to make any difference whatsoever. Waste of time, and really takes away from all the effort the creator put into this. It's free content for you, what standards do you need met? And no one, not one person, is impressed with your superior knowledge and experience. In the end you only show 1 thing: the type of person you are. To focus on only inconsequential negatives in a vast sea of positives. You put out much more negative into the world with no positive benefit to be had. Please think about that before you go around correcting people just because you can. Just because you can does not mean you should. Do yourself and the world at large a favor by trying to worry about mistakes that you could fix that hold some value.
Thank you for coming to my TEDtalk.

I feel like English pilots are much better and much more aware of things when flying. The safest I've ever felt on a flight was with an English pilot
I feel much safer in an aer lingus flight as they hadn't an accident since 1963
I am English, and due to not being foreign, am more safe than other (foreign) people. Given the chance, I would fly the hell out of an aircraft in a thoroughly English way.
Qantas safest flight record of any major airline.
I don’t like french pilots, who like to pitch up in a stall
QF72's capt was American-Australian and the 1/O was Australian. Do you think the Aussieness imparted some Englishness somehow?
YESSSS NEW VIDDDD I LOVE YOU. YOU DESERVE.MILLIONS OF SUBS YOU THE BEST
InfiniteFlightVids LOL... Thanks man
Your videos are fantastic ! Addictive...and totally educational. Those two pilots deserve the Sullenburg Award for getting the Speedbird back on the ground ! You have low airspeed and no thrust and when the engine flameout occured you had almost time to do much. I never thought they would make it to the runway. I expected them to crash 1/4 mile from the threshold ! GREAT emergency flying, Brits !
gutsy move to raise the flaps , but I guess it worked. Credit for the quick thinking of the pilots, that's why they get paid nicely
I just love your channel. I love all the detail you put in your videos, even the emergencies. I hope you get to more and more subscribers. Keep up the good work! 😃
I really appreciate the work you put into these videos. Keep up the good work.

Great skill by flight crew. ATC were also very quick to get fire/ambulance services to this stricken aircraft. Cabin crew did a fantastic job in evacuating passengers as safely as possible.
My 6 year old son Kobi loves your videos he wants to be a pilot for Emirates 😊 hes asked me to ask
" Do you use infinite flight for your videos? "
We watch them together and he tells me what he would of done differently if he had of been the captain
"Keep making the videos" from Kobi
was on my way to pick my Father up from Heathrow, and drove passed the crash. I won't ever forget that feeling of being an Aviation fan and seeing a stricken aircraft on the ground. Thank god the Pilots managed to avoid the road directly adjacent to 27L runway. ATC and the flight crew are trained for this incident, but you can imagine the adrenaline rush when it is actually happening. Well done to those who were all so professional in their individual jobs that they avoided the incident becoming any more serious.
Everyone always hopes I flew to Puerto Rico with a stop over in Ft Lauderdale and we landed in such high winds we were literally on TWO WHEELS! And the plane was swerving down the runway like it was a drunk driver because of such high winds, but we had awesome pilots that got us there safe and sound.
New subscriber here. I can’t get enough of your videos I keep talking about them with friends and family. They’re so brilliant with great execution. I don’t know if you can do the one that crashed into the Florida Everglades (I can’t remember the exact flight name) but if u could that would be great 💯Keep up the great work!!
Wow, two of those incident videos in just one week, nice! Again well presented and thank you for your hard work, since those videos seem very time consuming to make!
Hugos Boss Thanks! I’m working hard to make more “air crash” videos since everyone like them!
Yeah, they are giving you the "insight" of what is happening in the flightdeck first person; also the informations surrounding the incidents are quite interesting and what happend afterwards and so on. It is nice to hear that you are working more on those vidoes; looking forward to them as always!
You are doing a fantastic job out here. The explanations are correct and well presented. I appreciate it! Thank you so much!
So lucky it didn’t crash, it would have been catastrophic if this occurred earlier on in the flight
Actually, quite possibly not. The ice would melt in time, just not in the short period available in this instance.
Sylvia Else True, but if it had earlier on in the approach it would be difficult
It occurred earlier, it just didn't clog the FOHE until appch.
What do you mean? This was a crash. With a favourable outcome, but a crash, nonetheless.
@@khymaaren - i assume he means airplane pieces and bodies all over the place.
what aviation considers a crash and what the public considers a crash are usually different.

Heathrow is a scary airport. It's a very intenslely populated area and a very busy airport - like, very busy. I was out on my horse one morning where I could see Heathrow in the distance and something had obviously happened because planes were stacking overhead. I can't remember how many I counted, but seriously, it was like a busy roundabout. I was convinced I was going to see an accident. I'm so, so glad I had a boring ride home.

They should make a new airmanship award called “Master Glide Stretcher” where a pilot literally stretches the glide until his aircraft just finally drops - the only requirement obviously, is that you need to be close enough to the ground to live.
