Problems that came up here for linguistic nerds: 1. Korean doesn't use pronouns 2. Neither of them speak english but she assumed all foreigners did 3. his french is swiss french so his pronounciation is slow and a bit mumbled (so the translator was confused)

Any insight into why the pronunciation is slow/mumbly? Is it the dialect or because its a second language? Canadian here, so I've tried to distinguish Quebecois french from Parisian. And while I can read a little, and pick words out, most people speak *way* too quickly for me to follow

Not everyone speaks English. This scenario was quite frequent in my family as I used to live near a border, half of it was from one country the other half from the neighboring country. During family reunions, some members didn't know the other language nor english (the older ones) and they talked to each other in their own language. With the context and gestures they managed to have conversations .

Hehe the language barrier and struggle to even speak to someone is the best part of meeting people from other countries tbh :') You do need some translation apps or a bilingual to keep it fun in the long run but yea I love the game of hints you have to play and how people view my language through a totally different lens because they're not used to the phonetics of it :') Was hanging in Macedonia with my sister and a bunch of natives, one of which spoke decent English to translate but all his friends there spoke strictly Macedonian which was pretty funny really. Was a nice challenge to communicate even the most basic of things like oh where you from what's your name and then when me and my sister speak Dutch to each other for a sec we got puzzled looks, turns out they thought we were having a fight cus of the k's, t's and the throat scraping g's in Dutch :')

The biggest part is the German one, but they have a LOT of different dialect that germans from germany can't even understand one bit. Here in the french part, we have a lot of different accent and words depending the part, but we always understand each other (not always the case in the swiss-german parts). Cheers :)

This scenario was quite frequent in my family as I used to live near a border, half of it was from one country the other half from the neighboring country. During family reunions, some members didn't know the other language nor english (the older ones) and they talked to each other in their own language. With the context and gestures they managed to have conversations .

Hehe the language barrier and struggle to even speak to someone is the best part of meeting people from other countries tbh :') You do need some translation apps or a bilingual to keep it fun in the long run but yea I love the game of hints you have to play and how people view my language through a totally different lens because they're not used to the phonetics of it :') Was hanging in Macedonia with my sister and a bunch of natives, one of which spoke decent English to translate but all his friends there spoke strictly Macedonian which was pretty funny really. Was a nice challenge to communicate even the most basic of things like oh where you from what's your name and then when me and my sister speak Dutch to each other for a sec we got puzzled looks, turns out they thought we were having a fight cus of the k's, t's and the throat scraping g's in Dutch :')

The biggest part is the German one, but they have a LOT of different dialect that germans from germany can't even understand one bit. Here in the french part, we have a lot of different accent and words depending the part, but we always understand each other (not always the case in the swiss-german parts). Cheers :)

@@Zoexiise there’s no such problem with white Europeans in general but in this case the majority of Korea consists of one ethnicity, I think it’s way more necessary to include other races and ethnicities when making these types of videos because it solely does have an impact on the way Koreans view/ interact with foreigners even though they might think white Europeans are “safer to talk to and trust” that says a lot within itself that Korea is lacking diversity
