For anyone watching with a 10th gen intel CPU, after days of pulling my hair out, I finally figured out you HAVE to update to the current unraid beta OS, 6.9, to get /dev/dri to show up. I guess lower versions don’t recognize/support it or something. After doing that and following this tutorial I finally got up and running
Thank you for the Video but I agree with this or at least post it in the description. I use a P2000 but just wanted to see if I can do without it to free up a slot. Thank you again
Unfortunately, the linuxserver container you are installing no longer contains the extra docker parameter you are referring and your video resolution is not good enough for me to read it off the screen. :(
Make more vids, you could be the next SpaceInvader! Key points in 2023; any Plex will work, go to advanced view, and add "--device=/dev/dri:/dev/dri" to a line. You got me 90% there, so thanks!
@@tomp9447 docker: Error response from daemon: error gathering device information while adding custom device ""--device=/dev/dri": no such file or directory.
Can't read what the line I actually need to add says, due to the low resolution. Adding that info to the description would be helpful. Thanks for the video!
Been investigating this for a few days. Not sure what happened with it, source file was 1080, somehow the upload process only delivered up to 720p. From what i've seen on reddit, it seems i'm not the only one this has happened to. Smaller channels with lower priority seems to fall prey to the circumstance more than others. 🤷♂️
For anyone running into the same issue as me, if you are using the linuxserver unraid docker and you have a dedicated GPU setup and working on your server the container will refuse to utilize the cpu for transcoding. As soon as I removed the other gpu it immediately recognized my coffee lake cpu for transcoding. Thankfully I do not need my dedicated gpu and was swapping to quicksync because I was removing it anyway but still a really frustrating issue.
I was able to finally get this working by unplugging a dedicated GPU from my motherboard. It was working previously and then when I added the dedicated GPU, the intel TOP dashboard utility stopped updated correctly and my transcoding screeched to a halt. Removing it fixed it. I'm sure theres a way I can have both installed and "select" the iGPU for the transcoding but I'm not quite sure how to do that
Had to disable hdr tone mapping to work but so far so good. Not sure why it doesn’t even affect the colors they don’t look washed out or nothing a big win.
After seeing your video and Reading how intel 10th gen uhd 630 is really good at transcoding, I'm begging to wonder if my 1660 super is really needed on my UnRaid. Since I only have max 4 streams at any given on plex, I figure I can use my 1660 super on another PC for productivity work and gaming. Being GPUs are scarce, could you provide a video on how to go from an nvidia gpu plex setup to intel plex setup. I am new to UnRaid and slowly starting to learn from watching useful videos like yours, and hate to mess up my current setup. Thanks
Yes, as I responded to another user in the comments for this video, the short version is: it was a UA-cam issue with this coming out 720 instead of 1080. Thanks for the input though, and I do agree.
would you be willing to do one of these videos for Jellyfin on unraid? It's been a big struggle for me to get the transcoding right and I think this would help.
Great Video! Just wanted to share my experience with a newer CPU. PSA Picked up a 12900K and cannot enable hardware transcoding, cannot even boot into unRaid GUI unless I add a dedicated GPU (which disables Intel iGPU). uncertain if it's a driver compatibility issue or related to intel's EFI shenanigans.
Thank you! I had a similar experience on one of my servers with a Ryzen. Unfortunately that’s a little outside the scope of the UA-cam comments here, but definitely recommend posting in the unraid forums, chances are someone there has had the same experience and may know the fix. Good luck!
Generally no, but depending on the system maybe. I have a store-bought dell with an amd that won’t activate the gpu at all unless it’s plugged in. Might have to dig a little deeper on the google for that one. Good luck!
Hi John - to be honest, i'm not 100% sure. Anecdotally, i did not have any issues installing the plugin while i had the modifications to the go file in place. however, if you want to be absolutely sure you don't have any issues, you could always remove the modifications and then install the plugin.
That's a great question, unfortunately not one with an easy answer, but in short - maybe. I've seen mixed results for folks passing through their skylakes, and in some cases it has as much to do with the mobo as it does the cpu. your best bet is to take that to the forums here: forums.unraid.net/topic/45385-intel-igd-integrated-graphics-pass-through-support-march-2016-update/page/6/
@@CptChaz1 just went back to my i3 and now the gpu transcoding isn't working on that but I'm able to see the gpu when i use cd/dev/dri but it's just not in use when I try to transcode a movie on plex

FYI, use 1080p if you are showing text on screen. You can't read the small text in your video.

any reason for 720p only? no zoom in the browser + this "low" resolution makes it kinda blurry....

Will be obvious to most, but just in case. Hardware transcoding is a Plex Pass feature.
