I love my disaster dark lord Davi.
The modern day quipp didnt bother me, because it says something about the timeperiod she was snatched away, and i enjoyed the subtle hints of how the fading memory of her earthlife was corrupting them. She keeps so clinging to anything of her earthlife, even if she is now basically immortal.

I disagree. She showed practically no regard for her former life, beyond the extremely rare comment, and wanting the loop to end. And I certainly don't see them "corrupting" the world of the book in any way, her way of thinking yes, again, not yet, but down the road. It's fair enough to suppose and extrapolate, but I didn't see any real page real estate covering any longing for her old life, in fact we found out literally nothing about it, though I assume we will in future books. I really feel the entire "isekai" element could've been lifted out of the book entirely and nothing substantial would've changed, beyond the 11th hr, one sentence reveal.
It's not so much the jokes themselves, as the frequency that I found grating (though some were real groaners, ofc humor is subjective). I'm glad you enjoyed the book, I did as well, I just found this element held it back from me loving it vs liking it.

I'm about halfway through and if it wasn't for Tsav, Amitsugu and Droff I'd have dnf'd it because Davi is insufferable. Just when I think she's bearable she comes out with some cringeworthy horny talk.
And the footnotes, why so many footnotes!
Another thing is the f bombs, they occur so frequently that they carry no weight, it's difficult to tell when someone is genuinely angry when they have already dropped the f bomb 2000 times this chapter.
Completely agree with you about the pop culture references, there are so many of them.
I think I'll finish it but it's not my favourite read of the year.

The cussing didn't bother me tbh, but to be fair, I'm pretty foul mouthed myself, as are most of my friends, so that's likely why lol. It's not uncommon amongst my crowd to hear F bombs frequently, and it having nothing to do with anger. I can certainly see it bothering some, and I assume it WOULD go hand in hand with a lot of the same people the constant thirst would. It could seem a bit out of place, just due to feeling too "real world", side effect of the whole portal fantasy thing I guess.
I didn't even think to mention the footnotes, to be honest, I skipped them lol. They wouldn't have bothered me, I don't think, but you're right, there were certainly a lot.

@reedmorebooks I wasn't offended by the swearing or the horny talk, it just became a bit tiresome and for me it made me roll my eyes on several occasions (like the lizard wilder lol). I don't think that the writing is bad, the complete opposite, on the whole I think it's well written but I do think maybe I'm not the target audience.
I am conflicted about this book!
