Make sure that the wax is completely melted on top before you blow it out, that way you don't have wasted wax all over the sides that create a tunnel. I seen that the tutorial had alot of tunnel/wick in a hole of wax. Thanks for the salt suggestion 😊

The salt in the candle trick was used years ago in a Detective TV show, to try and fool the police . It was a 6 hour candle that burned out as they arrived on the scene but when they discovered the salt trick they realized the murder had been committed at least an hour earlier.

Be sure and trim the wick down to about 1/4 th of an inch before lighting. It will not make as much smoke when it is shorter.

Remember that there are dripless candles and candles that only melt the wax but not evaporate it as it burns.

I use those thin round bamboo skewers that you normally use for kabobs to light candles that are too deep to light. They are cheap (by the bag), and you can blow them out after use and reuse them again as long as they are long enough. They also work well for lighting things such as a gas stove or a fire where you don't want to get too close. They won't break like dry pasta might.

LIFE SAVING Candle trick. If you live in an area prone to snow storms, keep a tea candle and a box of matches in a plastic bag in your glove box. If you get stuck in your car that one tea candle burning on your dashboard will keep you warm enough to survive a long cold night until help arrives.
    Please tell your friends.

I personally do not light candles due to having cats that could knock the candle over and create a fire...or have hot wax spilled on pet when they accidentally get around it and knock it over (happened once to me about 20 yrs ago as I left candle area on kitchen table and briefly went to use the bathroom). My dog thankfully too small to climb. I do not like as well having an eventually smokey wall or ceiling. However with all that said, I appreciate this video and know it will help others with their candle dilemma. Blessings ya all and stay happy and safe

That's very smart of you because I used to a neighbor and her cat knocked over the candle stick while she was in the house sleeping and burned her house down and by the way it was just her and her cat staying there only when that happens t o r n the house down she left and never came back to rebuild

@a.d.mitchell2613 Thank You....n that is such a sad read and terribly negligent. What a terrible price to pay just for a lit candle. God bless her and her cat wherever they are, and I am relieved to read that woman lived from an unfortunate lesson. For me, luckily that hot wax is all that happened to me or my cat back then. He had no burns from the wax (mind boggling) and vet said his tongue will remove the wax from his fur. Even though I was always very mindful, candles imo are not worth your home nor any life.

I lit a candle and put it in a kitchen sink thinking it was safe there. I went to the bedroom and the door was shut. An hour later the smoke alarms started blaring. I opened the bedroom door and it was so filled with smoke I couldn’t see. When I looked for the fire I found flames shooting up out of the sink. I quickly noticed a huge plastic tray had been knocked onto the top of the sink right above where the candle was lit. I had a cat that just had kittens so it had to have been one of them that knocked the plastic tray onto the flame.
The soot from the fire was awful. It left black strands of goo everywhere, on the kitchen cabinets, walls and curtains. After putting the fire out we opened all the doors and some windows. Then put a large fan in the doorway to purge the air of the smoke.
It cost me $300 to have cleaners get the spot off the walls and everything else in the living room, kitchen and dining room.
Luckily we were awake to hear the smoke alarms and get to the fire quickly. The fire almost caught the kitchen cabinets on fire and if that happened the entire kitchen could have been set ablaze and possibly the house. I stopped using candles after that.

2:25 - However, it is important that you wait for the right time. You should wait until, exactly, the candles already have a little liquid wax.
2:38 - As soon as the wax is more or less liquid, you can move on to the salt.
First, precise timing is desired. Then, it’s whatever. Approximate.

Smart Fox, If you really want to do something useful, just stop telling people to save the candles in the freezer to make them last longer and to save money. Instead, show them again the liquified wax in the glass with a wick flame on top, and tell everyone to get rid of any candles they have, and to never bring candles in the house. You might save lives.
