Very informative. I am a carer in Victoria. We do things a bit different here. No adoption, that is available in NSW, we can do Permanent Care after so many years to get guardianship. Homeschooling is not a common thing with foster children as going to school means more people to ensure the safety of a child. Although I have found many schools are unable to cope with the trauma of kids in care. In Vic we have to go through a foster agency not direct to DHHF. Other states can be either. I get most people ask about reimbursements for the kids. This payment varies with ages, level of needs and states. I hadn’t realised you did care until this video, I watched another and thought when did you have a baby lol. I think it’s needed to be mentioned the level of trauma that kids can experience. We can say yes when asked but only know the true extent when kids live with us. It’s okay to say we cannot continue if our mental health or family needs that. I have had pressure to take kids, especially when they guilt you as they are unable to find a placement. Those placements don’t often work so I agree stand your grand and only agree with what you have pre decided. Thanks for sharing we need more Aussie foster stories and sharing of knowledge.

Sorry permanent care is available if it is on offer and we have to go through a process and get approved.
