Richard Reynoso: A Luthiers Craft in Art Deco Los Angeles
Вставка
- Опубліковано 20 лют 2019
- Although the classical guitars of Richard Reynoso are fully traditional in construction design and largely inspired by the great Spanish makers of the past, they do have a voice and personality that is entirely his own. See in this short documentary how Richard's artistic style is informed in subtle ways by his immediate environment - the classic architecture seen in some of Hollywood and downtown Los Angeles' most iconic historical buildings of the art deco era. His love of hard yet graceful lines and contrasts is expressed in his signature carved headstock, and exquisite rosette design which draws from his love of art-deco styled chandeliers and ancient Egyptian jewelry.

Richard Reynoso is an extremely talented luthier. And video is gorgeously shot!
Good on him and I can't wait to hear one of his instruments in person, but I have to say..
This is an amazingly WELL SHOT video, so props to the video team as well :)
Man, you're doing an awesome work, and this video is full of beauty.
That makes the guitar so much better than, ... Well a guitar?...
Beautiful video - beautiful guy - beautiful guitars! Thanks for what you do Richard.
I've played his guitars and they are outstanding in quality of sound and workmanship.
My favorite maker of all time
It'd be nice to see more of such videos!
Congrats to Richard Reynoso ... one of my favorite luthiers. I love his work, his design. Unfortunately I have not played on his guitar yet...
How can he be a favorite if you haven't played one yet? You should play one then decide for yourself.
@Ricardo , this is what I called mid life crisis
We appreciate nice work by R Reynoso but not able to play the guitar well is another things ! Like I have a few good premium guitar but not playing well is the most embarrassing thing .
@@soundknight the design!!
Always wondered how a luthier or craftsman survived, engaged in such a demanding job!
He works here cooks here and sleeps here!
Something else to admire!
Thanks for the video!
Beautiful work!
Great video, thanks!
Loved this video and his work seems amazing.
The shape pf his guitar heads is very distinctive and art nouveau and very attractive.
Excellent video.. 👍👍☕
Fantastico!! Now for a full build video, one hour, perhaps?
I hope to buy one of your guitars some day!
Wow.
God bless you
Dear Richard , I do not know you personally but I wish you lots of success and luck in your fine work . By the way ,small touches such as the way you sign the guitar labels are very artistic and done with lots of finesse , the late Andres Segovia also had a beautiful and distictive autograph ,or signature.
who made this video?
It's very good isn't it, great advertising.
I made this.
@1:38-1:41 it sounded like the beginning of "Damn Good Times" by David Lee Roth, which featured Steve Vai on guitar naturally.
Some lovely designs…however, am I the only one to note the irony of seeing these intricate wooden acoustic instruments combined with music played on a mass-produced electronic keyboard?
The whole thing is an advert.
Ever thought there is no room for a piano...
I have a roommate, and even if I could fit an upright, I will continue to use my little privia, and to continue to play my wonderful little classical.
would that I had my own house with no connecting walls and room for even a baby-grand, but alas...
I've been to Rick's shop many times and, take it from me, he has no room for an acoustic piano. He's working and living in maybe 700sq.'
After am watching this video, i really want to smashed my $100 guitar, give me a chance to play your guitar please 🙏
The work looks quite tidy, what does it actually sound like when it's really played?
I went to a cello concert last night by some of the best (5+1 Ensemble, Vienna Philharmonic), I couldn't help but notice that their instruments all looked like they were whacked together, the varnish was uneven, binding not so tidy at all, in fact the finest work was actually their bows. Yet, these instruments were impeccable in sound quality, each was unique in its timbre, one example in fact had more timbre than i have ever heard from any instrument and it cut through the mix of the others like a gentle katana brushing through the air -so smooth, deadly that you didn't notice its effect rather you felt the result; this instrument was the oldest, ugliest and plainest looking.
When I see overly ornate detail in the rosette I get suspicious of the time the Luthier spent not working on improving or understanding the sound of their instruments, This May be a fantastic sounding guitar - I can't tell from this video, what I can tell is that advertising the merits of sitting in a room with a sleepy cat, visiting an exotic building for inspiration makes an impressive movie for advertising purposes.
I have a Reynoso Guitar and is just a wonderful instrument. You are welcome to try it anytime.
Great video, thanks!
