I love it when someone breaks centuries-old traditions and brings something new and wonderful to the world. Perseverance and belief in yourself go a long way. Great job, Mike. I can't wait to play one.
Mike's remark that it's OK to fail, if you don't fail you're not trying to succeed very hard, will stick with me forever. Fear of failure has been holding me back musically. That ends today. Thanks Mike, and my congratulations and very best wishes to you.
THIS DUDE ROCKS! I met Mike in 2017 at NAMM and I must say he is an absolutely incredible individual. He was warm and welcoming and made sure to take some time to answer my questions about his guitars. I had the pleasure of playing a few and even got to experience the 2P GA Stage Triple Play guitar. I have to say after experiencing the quality and beauty of his guitars it has become a life goal to own one. Congrats Mike you deserve this award and many more!
Congratulations my man. It is an amazing thing to have your mother and father behind you 110%. Having someone believe in you is half the battle. The other half is determination which you have and it paid off. Great job.
This presentation needs more. More of Mike and his Dad. More of the guitar. More of the difference between Mike's winning design and conventional guitars. What a cool story! Congratulations on all of your success!
Thank you so much for watching :) Please go to Riversong Guitar UA-cam channel for a detailed explanation of the revolutionary technologies. You'll see Info and Education playlist. Sorry I couldn't include more details in this video.
i got on this thing, where i thought if i used really heavy electric strings, really high out put pickups, and an impedance matching transformer, that i could directly drive a guitar mounted speaker.. the battery-less self contained electric was pretty much a failure.( not as loud as an acoustic, so good thing it was just a bunch of Math ) glad to hear you pulled through, and came out on top.
This fantastic. I have two guitarists in my family. I ran downstairs to tell one and am about to email the other. One more of so many reasons I am proud of this country. My heart bursts with joy for each one of my fellow Canadians who have held on to their dreams and accomplished their goals. Thank you also for including that opening caption.
Taking of those shackles reminded me of a RUSH lyric from Hemispheres. " Throw off those chains of reason and your prison disappears". Awesome job on the design!
Very nice---I wish this video included playing the guitar more at both loud strumming and softer fingerstyle guitar so the viewer can confirm the sound quality at both loud and softer volumes.
Reminds me of the construction of my 1969 Fender Villager 12 string acoustic. It had a bolt-on electric 12 string neck, an acoustic body, a heel block, a block at the bottom of the body, and a metal pipe that ran the full length of the body from the heel to the bottom of the guitar, connecting the two blocks.
Wow, Mike, you did it!! "Congratulations" doesn't even come close, as your accomplishment speaks volumes about where you are on your journey. I can hardly wait to see what you're going to do next. Keep growing. Amazing. You're amazing.
Canadian luthiers are shining with talent. In particular, classical guitar builders Fritz Mueller, and Martin Blackwell are incredible. And, there are way more than I will list here,...kudos to them all.
I'm always interested in the next step forward in acoustic guitar design and sound. Thank you for your determination and smarts. I hope to play one of your instruments soon!
The key thing I got out of this is hard work pays off. ideas don't just come in a flash and then the end product just magically appears. it takes years of thought and just plain hard work to make a guitar like that happen Kudos to Mike for sticking with it.
What beautiful looking and sounding guitars! Man. I wish I could afford one....Incredible design....I am a Welshman living in Japan...as we say over here,,, おめでとう,,,,congratulations. That instrument is something us lefties can only dream about! An incredible sound. Well done young fella!
Ernie Brown, my mentor when I began work at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft (they later dropped "Aircraft" from the name) told me: You learn more from your failures than you do from your successes. He was right then (in 1973) and it holds true today. Eventually the failures become far less frequent - thank God!
I got the chance to see this fellow's guitars during the International Guitar Festival in Vancouver a few years back. I didn't play any of them but they were all gorgeous and well-crafted. Glad to see he's getting the recognition he deserves. In general I was very surprised at how many high quality guitars are crafted in Canada from the various luthiers.
The first thing I thought when I saw his design was old banjos! Vintage banjos have a dowel running from the neck through the body much like that, and probably for the same reason. Banjo heads need to be resonate.
Amazing stuff Mike. Love the story. Can't wait to hear one of your guitars in person. If you ever need any help finding distribution here in Japan, let me know.
@@flynlion-p9i That was certainly disappointing. Also for a video about music, ie. sound, the mix should have had the unrelated background music toned down. The voices were competing with it. Go quieter and with something melodic, not so percussive. Or none at all - there you go! :)
I've been there. Trying to think outside the box with guitar making and just not getting there. I stepped away but intend to go back. Good for you. This inspires me to get back to it.
Seeing this design actually confirms some of my theories for improving my own guitar design. It's like I've been barking up the same tree! This is very encouraging!
It's good to see some family support and people that can learn together through the ups and downs. The world needs more people that stick with it, and make their dreams come true by hard work. Congrats and be grateful of the support you've had. I envy you. God bless.
This is wonderful and truly a great accomplishment. The innovations and ideas begin with the ability to think freely and allow imagination to produce something new and extraordinary, not highly complex, but a unique and simplistic in design. Minor changes have made major differences. I write songs and play a little and can appreciate this achievement. There is someone I know, Johnny Rushing, many years ago I bought one of his handmade guitars and know what it take to make such an instrument. One can hear only what the instrument is able to produce and that is what judges the craftsmanship. And item of athletics both with the look and the sound.
I remember trying to conker something two years ago that no one seemed to care about, put forth the effort, or just couldn't figure out. After a week . . . Or so, I was at witts' end and about to give up. Just like that, I did it. Back in business! Never before have I laughed so hard with tears in my eyes. I agree. If you're not failing, you are not trying hard enough. It's great to see rewards from effort.
Awesome accomplishment! Congrats on all your hard work and perseverance…but more importantly, congrats on fulfilling your dream, most people give up. Well deserved recognition sir, well deserved indeed👍
Your so awesome! Yes' sometimes doing absolutely what's not been a value to consider, is Exactly what needs to happen! Congratulations ' Just amazing vision!🎼
The neck stick support was used in National resonator guitars since the late 1920's. Cool repurposing of a 100 year old idea and adapting to wood body acoustic guitars.
Other companies tried but weren't very successful. This design can seem similar but is different and works really well. Sorry for not putting more details in the video! Please reach out to Riversong Guitars for more details.
I'm an inventor and artist, I have a cool guitar I made, but I know what I just saw. I think its a brilliant idea, I hope you the best. Mabe one day ill have the pleasure to play one. Peace. By the way, congrats.

One day in retrospect your years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful...Congratulations...
Congratulations my man. It is an amazing thing to have your mother and father behind you 110%. Having someone believe in you is half the battle. The other half is determination which you have and it paid off. Great job.
Are you always this susceptible to marketing?
Congrats Mike! I feel very honoured to personally know you. and this honour is well deserved as your guitars are AMAZING!
Congratulations, brother. I'm currently in the failure stage of my journey so hearing your story is food for my soul right now. Cheers and God bless

So cool that your dad is around to share your accomplishment. It must feel so good
Love how he was at his wits end, then bam,...he begins to dismantle his theories only to discover his foundation was solid gold, hooray!
exactly
Watching in tears

So well said ❤ Thank you for you beautiful words.
I just watched guitar making works, and now you show something new. Congratulations!
Awesome Mike, proud to be Canadian. My friend is a self taught Luthier so I'm sending this to him. He'll love it as he is from Vernon out your way.
Taking of those shackles reminded me of a RUSH lyric from Hemispheres. " Throw off those chains of reason and your prison disappears". Awesome job on the design!

wow what a inspiration you are to me ,you thought out of the box and didnt give up and that is awesome and amazing man !!!!
Very, very cool. Congrats. BC boys are the best.
Kinda crazy that his revolutionary guitar design is basically how banjos have been made for the last couple hundred years.
It's just an ad ....
It sounds so crisp and clear. I love the edges, too. I’m saving up.
Reminds me of the construction of my 1969 Fender Villager 12 string acoustic. Nice. Jean-luc joie already did it with classical guitar

Regardless of whatever happens to guitars and wood.
Realize someone worked diligently to design a new guitar top. And he did it!
The one Guitar with the inlay is Beautiful, would love to have the opportunity to hear it. Congrats on your success....
Please go to Riversong Guitar on UA-cam, the 4th video is Riversong River Pacific P2P, you can hear it there :)
The key thing I got out of this is hard work pays off. ideas don't just come in a flash and then the end product just magically appears. it takes years of thought and just plain hard work to make a guitar like that happen Kudos to Mike for sticking with it.
Exactly ;)
Good job for never giving up.

congrats to Mike your an inspiration💜💜
Dude? Yes mate... this made me feel so good about life 👍
From 0.49mins, those two guitars sounded so good!
Seeing the steel bridge in some clips is evidence of his sincerity in his quest.
Thank you for noticing ❤ Yes! 49 seconds in is the actually sound of the guitar 😃
William B Tilton 1865-1895, and Fender acoustic King, both had center rod supports.
Good for you, and your parents, your a great son.
The first thing I thought when I saw his design was old banjos! Vintage banjos have a dowel running from the neck through the body much like that, and probably for the same reason. Banjo heads need to be resonate.
This deserves a full documentary!!
Oh yeah....That's my next guitar. Fantastic job.
Great story of perseverance and the importance of not giving up on your dreams!
❤
Wow man! Congratulations!! That’s gotta be an honor
Nice work
What a great story of perseverance, faith in your vision, and love for your trade / art. I’d like to buy one of those guitars.
i have your guitar of the year...and I cant imagine that a guitar could sound better at any price! love it. thank you.
❤
I love this story. Congrats!
Amazing stuff Mike. Love the story. Can't wait to hear one of your guitars in person. If you ever need any help finding distribution here in Japan, let me know.

What an uncynical video 😊 Congratulations man
uncynical...I like that word :)
Great story, and in the spirit of respect and truth, I honour and acknowledge that this story was watched on my own land.
❤
Nice. Thanks for sharing this story wih everyone.
*thumbsup*
Well done! A giant step forward.
Congratulations! Brilliant!!!
Nicely done! A great little story. Great job all round. Pace, edits, shooting and imagination. Love this!
Except that we don’t get to hear the guitar! Not that the sound would carry over on UA-cam, but they could have at least tried.
@@flynlion-p9i That was certainly disappointing. Also for a video about music, ie. sound, the mix should have had the unrelated background music toned down. The voices were competing with it. Go quieter and with something melodic, not so percussive. Or none at all - there you go! :)

The mans mom gets all the credit from my end...
Great job GLUE!!!
Congratulations🥰💙💙💙💙
What a great accomplishment. Congratulations on your and your family’s success. 👍👏
Never give up!
Seeing this design actually confirms some of my theories for improving my own guitar design. It's like I've been barking up the same tree! This is very encouraging!
They call it "neck through".
By the way, a very similar structure has been in use on resonator guitars for decades.
It's good to see some family support and people that can learn together through the ups and downs. The world needs more people that stick with it, and make their dreams come true by hard work. Congrats and be grateful of the support you've had. I envy you. God bless.
Awesome!!! Congratulations and the guitar is Physically Beautiful as well! Well Wishes for you and yours. 🧡🧡🧡

This video really reminds me of how much I miss my dad.
so touching ❤
Thanks for giving us such an extensive demonstration and comparison of this new guitar's superior sound.
This is an incredible story. Hats off to you Mike!
Well done brother.
Inspiring story. Thanks
Congratulations!! Would love to see, hear, and try one. The neck strut is reminiscent of the Fender Villager center tube...
Good on ya mate! Spectacular achievement, please keep Riversong alive generations with your guitar treasures.
Your Riversong stays on my mind
What a great video!! greetings from England.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Kudos! Remember, if all we do is what's been done, we never move forward!
I have had some success myself in improving what was considered a 'perfect' design. It is a great feeling and I am so happy for this guy!
What was that beginning paragraph about? Was that one of those land acknowledgments things I’ve been hearing about?
Kudos brother.. what a journey and achievment.
I remember trying to conker something two years ago that no one seemed to care about, put forth the effort, or just couldn't figure out.

Congrats Dude, awesome story and awesome job.. New Subscriber on Riversong as well. Awesome outside of the box thinking, very impressive.
It would have been good to hear a demo of the guitar.
Please go to Riversong Guitar on UA-cam to hear the guitar 🙂
He is also a complete 100% failure when it comes to attempting to control his smile while playing that guitar. 😁 Awesome, love this guy.
Heck yeah from the USA!
Awesome and inspiring. congratulations
I am inspired and therefore happy for you. Often I see successes and get anxious this video(you) encourages.
Awesome accomplishment! Congrats on all your hard work and perseverance…but more importantly, congrats on fulfilling your dream, most people give up. Well deserved recognition sir, well deserved indeed👍
Beautiful
Your so awesome! Yes' sometimes doing absolutely what's not been a value to consider, is Exactly what needs to happen! Congratulations ' Just amazing vision!🎼
that's what I call a harmonious family ;) congrats
