Nice video again. 😊 I thought I had a lot of plants in my house, but you do it even better. 😁 You have great rooms there with lots of space and light. I wish I had that too. Funny to see that the most humid room, your bathroom, is full of cacti and agaves etc. 🙈 Good luck with all your plants Tim. 👍🤜
@@Dimi.Exotic.Garden thank you Dimi. And I know that’s so wrong with the cactus. It’s just such a small space and they fit. But the palms would be happier in there. Enjoy your snow!
@MattiasTiivel thank you. Well I am jealous of your mild weather. Normally this is our end of January weather but it came very early in the season this year.
Loved the tour Tim particularly the indoor plants. Fabulous views with beautiful sunlight. The collection indoors is amazing. My foxtail is similarly browning off it's fronds starkly similar to yours despite it having a good sunny position. Your Cuban Royal palm is classy. I have two much smaller seed grown ones it seems like I'm gonna run out of window height soon. Like you I've tried to limit the number of plants I have in communal areas bit it's oh so difficult 😁 Yucca rostratas look epic unprotected through the winter. Love your pair of them. Cheers for the tour man 👍
@@vincenzecalzone8666 thank you so much. Winter is always hard but I think everything is surviving. I often wonder if it’s harder keeping them alive indoors than outside. But yes my house is way too full of plants 😀
Glad to see an update! In central Francona this winter has been even milder than the last one so far. Officially I'm in Zone 7b, however last winter we only had 3 days of snow and only one day when the temperatures dropped to -7 Celsius. This winter so far we had 3 days of snow (however it pretty much melted immediately) and only one day when temperatures dropped to -5,5 Celsius. The weather forecast says that the temperatures will not drop below -1 or -2 Celsius at night in the next two weeks. I hope it stays like that for the rest of the winter. My Trachycarpus were not protected at all so far. In fact none of my plants would have needed protection so far. However my Phoenix canariensis and Opuntia ficus indica would've reached their limits.
@@DonPablo91 I’m definitely jealous of your winter! Last year I think my Trachycarpus would have been just fine with no protection here… but this winter is pretty harsh so I’m glad I covered everything but the needle palms.
Wow! Your bananas look fantastic! And what an amazing home you have. The first thing I looked for when I moved this year is how much light is in this house. My old house was so dark. And life is too short for that.
PS! Thank you for teaching us how to make the boxes. So far only my two windmills are in the ground. And because of moving this summer, they got in ground late late late. So we decided that the hubs spent too much money to risk it even though in 7b I may have been alright. But who wants to risk it. So the boxes are fine after watching your videos over and over, lol.
Tim! Thank you for sharing your garden of Eden with us. This is Kirtland Vic. All five large Trachys and my 1st year in the ground giant Sago are warm in their palm huts. Its 22F tonight and they are all running internal hut temps at this time of 36-50F as the thermo cubes open and close the c9 lights in the case of the Trachys and the halogen 50 mini lights on the ground in the Sago hut which also has one 60 watt halogen bulb running in there as well since its so cold. We took a low of 8F overnight here two nights ago. My potted bamboo has not been hurt at all from it......amazing. Say near the end of your video i see you have a Chinese Fan Palm in the ground protected of course. Do they grow much during the year? How does their in ground growth compare to a Windmill palm? I am thinking of picking one up from Home Depot Garden Center and planting it and protecting it in the ground. But if it does not grow much i down't want to waste my time. Would like to hear from you on your experience with it Tim. Ha you got a Honda EV ha? Why not a Tesla...the King of EVs Tim. I purchased a Model 3 back in October and i will never buy anything but a Tesla......what a car. Take care man and keep up the good work.
@@ramonesalvatore3738 I’m very curious about your experience with the thermocubes. I use them but I have found with as many palms as I have they are not all reliable… even newly purchased ones. I’ve been converting to temperature controllers which are not that expensive. So Chinese Fan Palms… when I bought it a few years ago it was definitely larger than what you would buy at Home Depot so it already makes more of a statement. It also is on my stair path to the pool so its shinny leaves stand out. It has not grown at a fast rate yet. I say yet because it did take other palms like my Canary island Date a couple of years to take off. I’m really hoping this year to see a lot of new growth. It is a very easy palm to over winter. One palm that I keep reading that does not grow fast but I have found the opposite is my Mediterranean Fan Palm.
Looking great Tim. Have you had any problems with your edible date palm in the ground? I grew one from seed also and was going to plant it this spring. I'm in zone 6b in Ontario. I've got about 16 palms in the ground now and will be adding a few more this year. Cheers!
