    1. repeat “this shall pass”
things changed in the past, they will change in the future
    2. we experience things in seasons. now you may be in a bad season, it will pass
    3. how can i make it through the day? distract from the pain. don’t jump into the future, reject bad thoughts
place a doubt in your mind when you think that theres no hope
“There is no medicine like hope, no incentive so great, and no tonic so powerful as expectation of something better tomorrow.” ― Orison Swett Marden

Five years ago, I was still stuck in the same situation. Granted, I have changed as a person, but my situation has remained the same, at least for the most part. I want to take an alternative path in life, but sadly, every alternative path appears to be infinitely worse. This fact, along with many others, has prompted me to become very cynical, something I never thought possible.

  • @peggyvicknair6215
    @peggyvicknair6215 6 років тому +2

Yes, I have found this to be so true. Douglas Block is able to put these thoughts into words that help transform a feeling of hopelessness into hopefulness. Everyone needs to feel hopeful, even the prisoner on death row condemned to die. I know that is probably a worse case scenario. But if we find someone who is hopeless try to encourage them to become hopeful just the way Vickie did with Douglas Block. When you become so down in the muck that you think there is no turning things around, call someone, call a friend who may be able to help you see that tomorrow is a new day and things can change. "There is no medicine like hope." Have the expectation of something better tomorrow.

I really enjoy buddiasm ...it makes a lot of sense to me ....when I got in these hopeless states ....I try to distract myself ...laying in bed makes you feel so much worse .even if I have to force myself to do it ...I love meditation. I know it's not for everyone ...it takes some practice but it really helps to listen to a guided meditation...my mind does wander. While I do it but that ok ...I tell my focus ...or sometimes I say to myself when I'm over thinking at bedtime ...I say not now and keep repeating that ...I know it's easier said than done when you are in that terrible place ....but it does pass .helping other is such a great way take the focus off yourself ,and in return your not only helping them your helping yourself which is a win win situation....great video Doug as usual ...one more thing it may sound silly but I'll turn up the music and dance around the house lol .... anything to change the mood

All i have to do is leave the house and I am quickly reminded of why I feel constantly heartbroken and hopeless. The perpetuity of humanity’s greed, cruelty and cold selfishness will clearly NOT end. We’ve always been this way, and always will be till our self-made reckoning hits, which appears to be coming sooner than later. I dread a new tomorrow, and I just want out and to be free of this shameful species I was dropped into through no choice of my own.

    • @DouglasBloch

I agree that human beings often do terrible things. On the other hand there are many people that are working for the good. You might want to check out a group called Mercy Corps that I belong too. They are working to ease suffering in many parts of the world. Perhaps you could belong to an organization such as this. Everyday is the same. At this moment I cannot see any way out. And I don't want help because I feel ashamed of someone asking me what have I done with my life and tired with no strength to explain why, how or what is going on. People keep saying only way is to face the dragon and get your life in order. It is kind of hard to get anything done when you feel drained all the time for no reason. And I have been trying to stay off medication facing this dragon or the darkness and I cannot take it anymore! I don't even know people because I hardly leave my house and avoid interacting with anyone. It is miserable😭

Perhaps medication would be helpful. Do you have a psychiatrist or nurse practitioner or you can talk to about it? Also how about seeing a therapist. There is a way to get through this

@@DouglasBloch Thank you so much for replying.❤️I'm going to see my doctor tomorrow. And I live in a very small town with no therapists here. I used to travel a long distance to see one. I left medication 3 times because everyone here says medication is bad and its better to fix it without it. But it doesn't get better. And another doctor warned me that bipolar disorder is likely to cause someone to go off medication and think everything is fine. Anyways... Sorry I got so emotional on here thank you for your kindness and compassion.🌿🌹

Not yet. I’ve never suffered this, but I could interview other people who have. What are your symptoms?

Douglas Bloch There are quite a few, and it’s about feelings/senses:
Isolation and detachment feelings. During eating, comes a thought that the hand doesn’t feel mine. Feeling that the world became empty, though still there are a lot of known people, but somehow doesn’t feel connected to them. No feeling of body fully. No feelings of joy, and the best I can do is do fun things, but they just return from feelings of derealization and desensibilization. Can’t go socialize, if there is no close people I know - It gets suddenly detached sensation from crowd. Sense of time, can’t tell by feeling if it was 7 or 3 days ago, just by memory.

Precisely... Life and death cycle. Depression shall not pass. The pain doesn't end. It ends in death.

1- Four magic words: this too shall pass
If things changed in the past, they will change now too
2- time doesn't unfold in a straight line but it is a series of circles
3- don't ask yourself "will this pain will end?"
Instead ask yourself "how can i make it till the end of the day"
If your mind jumps into the future and catastrophises: take a deep breath, feel your feet touching the ground to bring yourself back to the present
