Helldivers was "never" expected to be this popular, (by their initial server estimations alone) their projections and strategies were formulated on a 10,000 player base not a 20 million player base. They expected Malevlon Creek to be a daily repeated challenge not something curb stomped and swept under the carpet inside 5 hours...... He.... is their "oh crap!" stop gap measure....... I love how their "failures" only add to the game's popularity. Such a rare thing these days.....
And I hate him because he is responsible for those shielded bots.

whenever someone calls him the "Dungeon Master" every D&D fan playing Helldivers Subconsciously Goons all over the floor in profuse confusion,
as if a higher power was watching over them. so now we have to call Joel the "Game Master" to keep them from staining their seats in gallons of Goon Juice.
@@irystocrattakodachithatmooms true but not in the way that you think, he isnt just shielding them with god powers. the Illuminate are in play here and are shielding the automatons as per Joels orders. All of the blue bolts of light sniping bots across the map are Illuminate Snipers taking out the Super Earth Sympathizers and moles within the Automaton ranks.
Just an FYI, Joel is the game master of helldivers, he decides where enemies push, he randomly drops unreleased content in peoples games, and most of all he is the one in charge of how we suffer next
The Joel that drops unreleased content is a hacker that was saluted by the devs for making people excited
"Lore" of the creek
Melevilon creek was the first time we got STOMPED in Helldivers 2. The Evil DM of the game Joel gave the robots reinforcements at the last second turning the battle around. What was relatively easy missions turned into bloodbaths. as Robot drop rates were increased nearly 3 fold. A level 6 mission was the same as playing level 9 missions in terms of sheer numbers.
The community called it space vietnam and it everyone threw themselves at the creek to try to hold it but we lost. recently we took back the creek and got a cape if you praticipated in the various raids on the planet...although people will shoot you if you have the cape because they were salty about it.
I did not know that other Creek vets were that salty about it
over 10 million Helldiver casualties..... Old world Vietnam would be proud.....

Can confirm it's good stuff! I bought a tub of it in March 15th and it's amazing. I think I burned through a lot of it. About 2 scoops a day at least with 24 oz of water.

Funfact: I was playing the first Helldivers recently and decided to check Illuminates' front (it was Prometheus Sector). You can't imagine my face when I checked level 15 planet and it turned out that its name was Malevelon Creek XD.

In actuality it could be any smell that is clearly not there. So if you are sitting in your living room in the middle of winter and suddenly have an overwhelming smell of freshly cut grass, it would probably be good to have someone do a F. A. S. T. test on you.

The "Children over Age of 7" is about contributing to the War Effort not for Helldivers, you actually have to be 18 and in "fair" health for those. so they are in the mines and factories not in super destroyers.

Joel. The Default Game Master of Helldivers's 2, is the only reason the current (million's strong) Helldiver teams don't steamroll the entire game into submission. Its his job to reinforce the enemy against teams that are ....too ...effective. Its a brilliant marketing ploy. He never sleeps.....
There over 7 line is actually in the game, there's literally a commercial that runs ingame saying how the automatons underestimate "how hard every man, woman and child over 7 will work to stop them"
The 'child over 7' line comes from an in-game 'commercial' that plays on the big screen on your super destroyer if you idle around long enough. The commercial in question was a basic overview of the automatons from early in the war, not sure if it still shows now
For the last 20 years it has always been a programmer's headache to make more than 8 enemies at a time actively and intelligently shoot at you... Helldivers is the first game to escape that problem and go.... 200 shooters? No problem...... To which the players immediately found God in a way that isn't adequately explained using English....

Never got to experience the creek, but I’ve still managed to have my own varying degrees of hell. Especially when I didn’t have much to deal with medium armor and up.
What do you need for medium up?
@@Airier The base weapons have differing levels of armor penetration. If your weapons armor penetration is lower (like using something with light armor penetration on a medium armored enemy) it will not do any damage.
As other will point out, there are weak points on enemies but they might not be easy to exploit in whatever situation you find yourself in.
Grenades, and other explosives work though you have less of them to work with.
Artillery stratagems work pretty well though their deploy time and recharge time can make them unreliable against large numbers of enemies.
I’m still relatively new to the game, so more experienced people can fill in anything I missed.
bugs are, generally speaking, ,mostly squishy so most weapons will be enough to take out most of them, although they attack in mass, so taking something with lots of ammo is encouraged. That being said, bugs like the charger and the bile titan require heavy weapons and strategems, something like the EAT, recoiless rifle or the Quasar cannon can do the job, but things like the orbital rail cannon, the orbital laser and the 500 kilogram bomb are also recommended, especially against the last one.
Now, talking automatons… their armor tends to pose more of a problem. Taking an antimaterial rifle is my recommendation for low level helldivers, since it becomes available really early on. Want something stronger and that is able to also take out their fabricators? Take the autocannon. In higher difficulties the bots can drown you in lasers, so heavy armor and the energy shield backpack can do you a solid.
At the end of the day though, knowing how to exploit weaknesses is key. Chargers = shoot them in the head with explosive ordinance, or in the leg until they have no armor and finish it off with normal bullets. Bile Titans = explosive ordinance to the head, will take 2 or 3 to kill it. Automaton devastators = shoot them with the weapons mentioned and they will go down, or shoot them with normal weapons in their little exposed heads. Hulks = shoot them with the weapons mentioned especifically in their red head or in their back vents with most weapons. Tanks = back vents or anywhere else with heavy ordinance. Dropships and gunships = their propulsion systems using heavy ordinance.

Here's the truest creep factor. If you combine Terminator 2, Starship Troopers, Surrogates, and Ender's Game... Helldivers gets REALLY creepy, REALLY fast...... Is this a real time war we are fighting in proxy, through the internet, to include slapstick suicide in our war effort cause you can't remove friendly fire from a real world simulator *(cough)* platform?

Airer, the "to provide" blooper and the "smalling burned toat" is just a reference to the fact, if you start smelling burned toast, and are in fact not making toast. You're probably having a stroke.
Last time I checked there has been 47 million deaths to friendly fire. But that is little compared to the deaths caused by the undemocratic enemies of Super Earth.
Friendly fire is a tinted score as summery execution of traitor and enemy sympatyser
There was infact a brief bug with the arc weapons that made the game crash if you fired them too many times in a mission cause of integer overflow, its fixed now thou.

The "Smalling Burnt Toast" thing is a stroke/heart attack joke, because one of the signs you're having a heart attack is smelling burnt toast. He uses "Smalling" instead of "Smelling" because he was having trouble speaking/was slurring his words for a moment, which is another sign.

I mean you don't technically need friends to play since you can solo play this, but playing with more people is always better since higher difficulties equals to swarms of enemies.....
Also it gives more funny moments when someone records it for meme reasons or other reasons (Also some tips below in the form of Alsos)
If you need someone to help then I can join you to make things easier or anyone that's nice really which is a large amount of the players here though there are some supremacists left I think
2nd Also: I don't recommend doing automatons solo on higher difficulties since they can & will barrage you with as many munitions & forces until you inevitably die
3rd Also: The max level was 50, now it's level 150
4th Also: You need heavy weapons against the bots since they have gunships, tanks & hulks which will be spammed against you in higher difficulties like 7+
5th Also: the Stalker bugs are not too bad, they're very visible even when they go "invisible". It's the Shriekers that you need to watch out for since they have instant kill capabilities
iirc, in helldivers children who turn 7 get functional assault rifles as presents, to encourage joining the SEAF (Super Eearth Armed Forces)

The game does have something about the workforce that mentions children over 7, so assumedly that's the age at which people start working. The minimum age to actually join the Helldivers is 18 though... and the average age of a helldiver is also 18, so take that as you will.
A brief extension of this: we know this bc of a propaganda/recruitment video that says that all men/women, and children over seven can enlist to help in the war effort, however there's some fine print that says that only people over 18 can become helldivers.
In/before the tutorial, you can see a screen that states that the average age of a helldiver is 18.7 years, and combat readiness is 27.1%
25:05 No there is a 3rd faction. They are from the 1st game. They were/are called the Illuminate (like the other 2 factions they are a parody on another sci-fi universe. I believe they are based off of the Protoss from StarCraft but could be very, very wrong.). We know they are coming because we've seen what we believe to be their cloaked ships. Fun lore fact: Illuminate tech is the origin for Super Earth's Faster Than Light technology and our shielding technology.

So yeah, in case you didn't know, Helldivers updates in real time. Joel, the gamemaster everyone talks about, is *_actively_* battling the playerbase every day, while also providing us a story, weapons, orders, and stratagems to make our experience as explosive as possible. This means that a mission about Automatons perhaps making a new unit and you trying to stop them, then *failing* that mission, will then result in AT-ATs and Airships pop in over the next few weeks. If we succeeded, maybe it would have taken longer, but I'm sure it would've happened eventually.
In response, we were told to hold a planet while the engineers on the planet came up with a countermeasure. We succeeded there, and now we have the Quasar Cannon, which is basically an anti-everything cannon.

a side note on friendly fire, it will happen but do try to limit it as you only get a limited cap on respawns which is 5 X the number of players in a team so a full team will have a total of 20 respawns to finish the mission - you can technically regain nearly unlimited respawns due to once the counter is down to zero a 2 min timer starts and if at least one person is still standing at the end you get +1 life but its not something you want to rely on XD
Joel is a man who is literally paid to watch how the players are doing, and adapt the game to defeat any new tactic they employ, or in RARE cases, hel- mark a world as lost. He can literally pop into any world at any time and go “hmm… i think there should be an Extra wave of bosses right about now”

Joel is the GM (game master) the man behind the curtain if you will. Also most of the community is pretty patriotic so friends are nice but not required 😁
12:30 If you know what your doing and put in parts that work well together it can actually be alot better than pre built models. Just dont forget to maintain it like dusting and making sure to optimize windows since its actually built horribly for no apparent reason. (I'd reccomend the guide by Khrovie Tech he just uploaded a new one thats structured better). Also things with performance are more affected by how well they fit your computer instead of how low you put the sliders down in most cases so if you have a powerful computer make sure to give it the proper load it can handle alot of tweaking is nessecary.
Also one little tid bit. DO NOT TOUCH ANY BIOS SETTINGS IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING. Doing this may and defiinetly will in the wrong places completley blue screen you so just dont, its very personalized and every computer can have different effects of the same settings like voltage but fyi just dont until your sure you know what your doing.
Fun fact. The opening reveals that the average age of helldvers is less than 19. With less than 30% combat readiness.

Well… the over 7 thing is a half truth (I’m sure you’ve heard by now). Over 7 and you work in the factories! Not sure what the age is for helldiving. Probably 18? After doing logi work since 14 or something
Honestly, I have mostly been playing with randos and it worked out mostly fine. The highest 3 difficulties are only possible with a really good group but challenging and hard work pretty well.
The lore of the game is what ever you do in it, was just a regular mission for the players to do, but we lost so bad that it has become the main reason we fought the robots more then the bugs to take that planet back. For democracy.

No the eradicate missions are not easy. Getting swarmed with a shitton of enemies to the point where you need turrets to keep all angles checked is not that fun. But at least the mission length is only 15 minutes.

The Automaton front has rather changed sence Max0r started making the video. The Automatons were pushed out the galaxy for a day. Then we lost the sector containing Cyberstan(home of cyborgs from the original game) within hours and two more sectors under attack as I write this. Turns out we only Stamped out the Vanguard and now the larger force has arrived.
