City Crusher looks like a deeper game than the original. The big problem with the original game is that each bomb would take out a lot of blocks. In some clones, a single bomb would actually wipe out the entire building. This makes the game too easy and it gets rid of most of the tactical richness. But it looks like City Crusher makes it so that each bomb only takes out one block. This is great! It means you have to use forward thinking and planning. The obvious strategy of aiming only for the highest peaks won't work. You need to mix things up, taking out some of the highest peaks but also doing some deep bombs. You maximize your "rate of fire" by leaving some higher peaks so you can take them out with multiple short range bombs. But you also need to ensure these peaks are spaced out or you won't be able to take them out quickly enough.
@@retroCombs Thanks! I just now discovered the existence of TheVIC20 because UA-cam recommended one of your videos. I never decided to buy a TheC64 yet, so I was curious as to whether there was any difference between the two. I mean, TheVIC20 and TheC64 are practically the same, right? I recently finally got around to importing an SD2IEC from across the Atlantic ocean, so I can play stuff on my VIC20 and C128 ... but they're NTSC only. Still, my main interest is more in my own development rather than (mostly PAL) demos/games, so I can just make my own stuff NTSC compatible. Still ... I'd be pushed to buy if they made one of these in a Plus/4 shell. I guess there's probably not high enough demand for this, but there's something really appealing to me about the Plus/4 case and keyboard. (Of course, I'd want it to be able to run C64 software, and not just TED software.)
Assume you have seen my Plus/4 series? I have a Plus/4 shell and have plans to drop a Raspberry Pi in at some point. That will give me a case that will run any Commodore if I throw on Combian as I did in my Combian pi/400 video. Might be an option for you. To answer your question, yes The C64 and The VIC20 are the same except for the case. I'm a fan because this was my very first computer. Curious, didn't think the SD2IEC was PAL or NTSC. What issues do you have?
@@retroCombs No, I hadn't gotten to your Plus/4 videos yet, although I guessed you had Plus/4 content from your opening animation theme. I'll check it out next! SD2IEC works fine with either PAL or NTSC, it's just that they only make them in Europe it seems. I just shopped around on eBay and it seemed like they were only really available from Europe. I have had no issues whatsoever, but there are some less common computers (C128 tower?) where you have to mind the physical distance between the cassette port and the IEC port. Another thing to bear in mind is that some SD2IEC builds use micro-SD instead of full size SD. I think full size is more common, which is convenient for me since I really don't want to fumble around with those puny micro-SD cards.

Love your feedback about these games. You obviously are a fan who can add some rich background info to my quick synopsis.

Ah, a keen eyed viewer. 😁
I had no clue about The VIC 20 until now... I heard nothing about The C64 or anything since 2019
It was a weird find for me too. Stumbled across it one day and had to own one. I love this thing!
