I've been waiting to see your opinion on what seems to be another outstanding Asvine pen. I've certainly enjoyed the ones I have. I WAS going to ask why you got a Bock nib, but you answered that question. Asvine nibs do seem superior to Bock nibs. I was interested in your comments as to vacuum fillers versus piston fillers. I had a bit of difficulty getting my Asvine V126 to fill fully, but I finally got it to fill and I do love that pen. Somehow, the torpedo shape feels nicer to my hand than the more squared off pens.
Hard to beat the price and quality of a nice vacuum filler and a piston filled pen it's great that they offer both
8:40 wow that's a very wet extra fine. Id definitely consider getting this one especially because it's so affordable that's why I love these under $50 pens
I love my V 200. I may get a second one. I like the weight and the design of the pen.
Great review Chris. I have the P36. I pulled out the piston screw to see if I could get more ink capacity I did but the amount of time to reinsert the screw was ridiculous.
From what I have seen the V200 has the same ink capacity as the V169. I thought about getting it but other than the finish and materials used but didn't think the price differential was worth it.

Thank you Chris for your honesty. Ordered the Asvine V200 today. It’s my first Asvine. In general I like vac fillers, but will admit that there are good reasons to buy piston pens

Nice review. And timely too -- I just had two V126 pens arrive today in the mail to replace a Jinhao 9019 whose inner cap cracked after a few months of light use on my desk.
THANK YOU for discussing Bock vs. Asvine nibs! As someone unfamiliar with Asvine and this genre of pens in general, I wasn't sure which nib would be best for me. I concur with your observations and am very happy with the Asvine EF nib. Even on cheap paper it writes like a dream, far better than my Lamy 2000 EF.
I picked up both the blacked-out frosted gray and frosted translucent w/gold accent V126 styles. The frosted gray looks absolutely amazing, especially with all of the metal including the nib blacked out. Very modern... which is ironic since the translucent one looks very classic. I'm really liking the way the matte finish feels in-hand; it's almost soft to the touch. I've only written about 8 pages with it since getting it, but it feels great to write with, even after 8 pages straight.
The V200 looks interesting and I'll definitely consider it when looking to add to the collection. I'm impressed with what Asvine has been able to create, especially for the price points. and it does seem like they are honestly listening to customer feedback and improving along the way.

Your vacs become eyedroppers with a shut-off valve. I have done that but the engineer in me says "Use the vac."
Great shot of that vac piston sealing the section. The clear finish on the V200 gives you a great look at that. With the vac pens I have,
sometimes I'm not certain about that. Seems PenBBS has done the best job making a vac filler that posts well although there are
probably pens I'm not aware of. Thanks!
I just got mine. I swapped the nin for a Bock Titanium nib and it is a great writer. I think it is a bit mor comfortable in the hand than the P36.
One of the better pens thst has come out this year.
I have a P30 that I love. It writes even after over a month of not being used. I am waiting for my V200 to arrive. Mine will have an Asvine nib, or it should since I didn't specify a Bock nib. I like my Asvine nibs better than my Bock nibs on my Asvine fountain pens. I am looking forward to my V200. It looks like a pen I will use often.
Hi Chris! I find this review very interesting and important, also for showing the prices. I understand that these fountain pens are equipped with the new generation Bock nibs whose best performance occurs precisely with their feeders. In my opinion, the #6 Bock nib compared to its Asvine equivalents shows a clear superiority of style in shape. Thanks for all!
My focus is the writing. I find all these injection molded feeds to be similar.
The Moonman M800 came with a Bock nib option and I have never heard of anyone who liked it. It was the same deal - the Moonman and Bock nib units weren't interchangeable. I really like Hongdian nibs and since they are basically the same company AFAIK, I'd probably stick with a stock option. I will likely get the P30 or P36 eventually.

What is the attraction to the Bock Nibs , compared to the Asvine ?
I find the Asvine nibs better writers. Some might want a Bock nib which is available in a broad which Asvine nibs do not.
I'm waiting to get my first one which will have the Bock nib in Medium. We'll see how it goes.
I'm wondering if a FNFactory Bock housing for Sailor 14k nib adapter would work in this...

In conclusion...if i want to buy the Asvine v200, i should better choose the asvine nib tha the Bock one.
I've watched several Reviews about the v200 which seems to go in that way

Thanks for the information about Asvine's offering of their Bock #6 nib for their V200. If the nib needs work, it would negate the benefits of paying a premium price vs Asvine nib. Does their Bock medium nibs have the same quality as their XF?
I don't have a Bock M. The B & BB nibs are great, wet, smooth & bouncy.
I agree with your assessment of the P36 Vs the V200. I have the P36 (V1) and like it so much that I'm considering getting the V2 version. A great pen, all the way around! Oh yeah ... need to check out Mathews' ink, too!

@@chrisrap52 Well, after watching your review for the second time (many others, too), I decided to pull the trigger! Got mine with a (F) Bock nib. I have several Bock nibs/nib assemblies and wanted that flexibility. Cheers!
Was the bock nib on the V200 fully pushed in? It looks longer compared to the two-tone Bock nib at 6:58.
Yes, Bock nibs are longer & sit higher, more in V200.
When screwed down does it seal off the feed like other vac fillers or does it stay back from the feed allowing ink to flow even when fully threaded shut? Im ok either way, just like to know especially since im about to take a flight and might pick one up.
Yes, the V200 has a shutoff valve.
The V200 and the P36 use different nib units. That's why the threading is different. Nothing to do with whether or not it's fitted with a Bock or Asvine nib.
Not correct. I have many Asvine pens, they all use the same Asvine nib assembly. Bock nib assembly is different.
@@chrisrap52 Sorry, I'm mistaken. Asvine seem to have two distinct nib assemblies one for the V169, P20, P30 and V126, and one for the P36, P50, P80, and V200. I misremembered and thought that P36 and V200 used different nib assemblies.
Same threads on both, same feed, can swap nibs between the pens. Asvine added an o-ring at end of some.
The medium nib on my V200 was very different to the medium nib on my V126, I really didn’t like it. It was slightly italic, not as smooth and not as wet. I swapped it out for a moonman medium nib which I find far better. Oddly I wasn’t able to swap in a jowo #6 nib, it was slightly too wide and would not insert fully.

Loved the video Chris. Yes, I have both a P-36 & the V200. I replaced the Asvine nib in the P-36 with a Bock, and got the V200 with a Fine Asvine nib. For me it's been hit or miss between the Asvine nibs and the Bock nibs. I think maybe I need to do some work on whichever nib is not feeling right. What's in my pipeline? I have 3 under $3.00 pens to pickup at the post office, a Jinhao & 2 Yiren metal pens. On the way is a Huashi 90, Jinhao 9016, a Namiki Falcon, and a Drillog. That Drillog is a dip nib in stainless steel and was the rage some time back.

@@grayrabbit2211 Maybe the same way 2 Pelikan M600's I got for the price of a single M800 did. I'm not a pen snob.
Why not just fill the vacuum filler with a syringe since it's so easy to get into it?
I can always do that but need to show how vac-filler works for those that will use it.
I think the piston threads needs to be titanium as well.
Never saw a pen with titanium piston threads. Would increase price a lot.
