Chris, I find your reviews entertaining and informative. I save them for technical reference also. You are one of my "must see" reviewers and you do an excellent job!
Wow, thanks! That is my goal.
To get a better fill with a vac filler there is a process that you can follow that will get you a more complete fill. This requires purging air out of the pen.
After you fill the pen from the first pump, leave the piston rod in a position that allows inkflow between the feed and reservoir. Invert the pen (nib up) and allow the ink in the fins and feed to drain into the reservoir. Gently pull the piston back down into the ink; you should be able to get it all the way down. The air bubble from your first fill will be up by the feed. Slowly and gently push the piston (and ink column) up untill there is almost no air bubble underneath the feed. Keep an eye out for any ink coming out the filler hole; go slow and let the fins, surface tension, and gravity help you avoid a mess.
At this point, the piston should not have made it to the cone where the vacuum is released.
Place the nib back into your ink bottle and finish pushing the piston towards the feed. If done properly, your vac filler will be 95-98% of full capacity at this point.
Thanks for the detailed instructions. I've done that a few times with other vac-fillers. I've had mixed results. Some add a little more some don't. The 1.7ml in this pen is plenty for my use. I've only seen a 90%+ fill using a vac-fill bottle.
I thumbsed up and suscribed when I saw that you shone a light at the back of the pen to show what was going on inside as you were demonstrating its construction. I've not seen that done so clearly before.
Thanks, glad I was able to shine a light on it.
Hi, I consider you one of the best and refuse to accept that people in the community could ever stop watching your reviews.
You'll always have my support.
I appreciate that! Great viewers like you motivate me.
Looks like a great pen. Personally I prefer the brown model, but I would buy a frosted smoke in a heartbeat
Wow that blue has such an unique colour and texture
Sorry to hear about the declining numbers, but I love your videos.
The nature of the internet. For me it's quality not quantity that counts.
Love your reviews.
Thanks a lot for the review.
I've been looking forward to it since you showed the pens in the Bastion review video.
My pleasure!
Thank you for an another excellent review. Loved the brown one
I have only the brown Asvine, and I just finished using a fairly full fill, so I had an opportunity to experience the pen’s nib on several types of paper. The pen performed very, every well, and I was impressed enough to believe it would be a good gift pen. As always, I learned a lot from your review. Thanks so much for confirming its build quality.
Thank you for confirming my review. My pen has been in use, on its second fill. Continues to write well.
Good description of the components and how they compare to other vac-filler modern pens. Thanks, Chris.
Thanks Chris for your detailed reviews that have guided me to some great pens to buy and some to avoid.
Thanks, Chris! I still love your reviews, especially because you and Doug can give a mechanically challenged guy a lot of good hints and observations. Hope the storms heading across the country are lighter than expected! Looking forward to a great Spring! K
Thanks. So far only rain & a little wind.
Whenever I am looking for a review of a new fountain pen product, like here for the asvine, if you cover it, I will always start with your review.
Awesome, thank you!
As usual Chris, this was an outstanding video with a lot of pertinent information. I'm going to have to check out those calligraphy nibs. I really thought you did an Awesome job with the imaging on the internal sealing mechanism. You're one of my must-see Pen reviewers.
Thanks. Glad you enjoy them.
I have the blue. Love it. They should make this pen in frosted aqua and frosted beer bottle green, and frost the brown -- then Asvine could market them as a sea glass collection, because that’s what the frosted ones remind me of.
Excellent idea.
Another great and informative video. Thank you, Chris.
I like the blue frosted pen. Looks good.
Surprised to hear you have declining numbers. I watch all your videos. Great channel.
Nature of social media. My style may not appeal to some. My focus is more educational than entertaining. I make videos I'd like to watch. I don't promote the videos. UA-cam algorithms not recommending my videos as much. Lots of possible reasons.
Thanks for another great review. I enjoyed your review comparing with the other vac fillers. Hope your viewer numbers bounce back upwards soon
Thanks. I always try to add interesting bits to my reviews.
Another great review, thanks Chris.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hi Chris - I always look forward to your videos so I'll always be here! :)
Thanks. They'll always be one to watch.
I Love your vídeos and these crabs. I have to buy them 🤣🤣🤣 Best regards from Brazil.
Thanks from New Jersey. I was fortunate to be in Brazil many years ago. Great country.
@@chrisrap52 wow cool !!! 😃
I picked one up and it came in yesterday, the blue model, I'm incredibly impressed.
😍👍✍
Cool 😎 review!
Probably just the fact we aren’t on Covid lockdown the last couple years. I know I tune in even if it’s a pen I’m not excited about. Because I love the intro song.
Tnx for review Chris 🙂
IT GORGEOUS!!!
Excellent presentation, Chris. I appreciate your details, including the packaging, especially the instructions.
I have gotten to enjoy vacuum filler pens as the maintenance has gotten so much easier with the ability to remove the section and feed. It is perhaps one of the reasons I have not enjoyed the TWSBI Vac700R.
Also the price is very reasonable.
Agreed. We figure out what we want & like. This pen has all the right bits.
@@chrisrap52 Doug is having the Asvine V126 giveaway. Maybe I will get it.
Maybe the moon is made of green cheese...
Top review!
Glad you think so!
Thanks for the review; it's tempting. It looks like a complete Pilot 823 clone, and that's one of my favorite pens.
Not to me. Enjoy your 823.
I'm relatively new to the world of fountain pens on UA-cam. This is the first time since maybe mid last year that your channel has popped up on my feed. Thank you for the review.
As for declining numbers, I'd suggest it's the nature of fountain pens, rather than the platform per se or your reviews. . There's only so much that is genuinely new and only so many 'reviews' viewers maybe willing to watch of the same pen, but with an new 'exciting' colour. It is still the same pen!
Good luck and I do like this pen based on your review. However, I don't particularly find the gold trim to be particularly attractive on either the white or blue & the brown/gold, albeit a classic combination, not overly my style. The blue with silver would be more my go!
Cheers. 😊
Thanks for the support. Maybe Asvine will make silver trim models.
I really want to buy this pen. I never got a vacuum filler. Might try the 3013/013 paili, but i already know i will love it. I love pens. And LOVE fountain pens even more!
You should!
Hi Chris, thanks a lot for all your videos. I always learn something new especially when it comes to the engineering and design parts. The question is what happens if you don’t keep the blind cap unscrewed when writing? Will the feed/jib consume the ink around the valve and then stop writing altogether? Thanks, Omar
Yes, pen will stop writing. Then need to open blind cap to write more.
Thanks Chris.
Can you tell me where you can find silicone rings of various sizes to replace the worn ones? I really appreciate your video as you explain a number of things about the V126's construction. Thank you for taking the time and care to make this video.
I buy most on eBay but don't have now. This Etsy PenBBS kit is good for lots of O-rings that work with many pens. www.etsy.com/listing/680663941/penbbs-pen-parts-package
Chris-do you ever fill those vac fillers with a syringe? Seems like you could get a full barrel that way. And-l’m still loving your videos! Thanks.
Yes, with a syringe could get 100% but the fun part of a vac-filler is the filling. Otherwise get an eye dropper pen like a C4.
This was a very interesting and helpful video! Thank you! The Asvine V126 and 3 different nibs I ordered separately for it on Amazon has been such a great experience! My 1st vac filler! So smooth and well-balanced. So easy to write with! I don't think I will purchase another fountain pen any time soon. I love that when you keep the blind cap open, the ink comes out so juicy!!!
I love your channel! Have you considered doing the 2024 8 fountain pen questionnaire on here? #8PenQuestions
I think it would showcase your channel very well!
Best wishes!
Teresa
First I've heard of a 2024 8 fountain pen questionnaire . I'll look into it.
@@chrisrap52 I think you would do great! I will send the link shortly.

Don't see these general questions fitting into my videos. My focus is reviewing specific pens. Others can cover general aspects of fountain pens. Thanks for showing this to me.
Is the mechanism the same as the penbbs vacuum fillers?
Yes, confirmed by Doug & me.
Can the nib unit be swapped with a Jowo 6 or Bock 250?
Yes
Section diameter? The specs listed did not include this.
9.8-11.5x19mm
I wanted to like this pen. For me Asvine is 0 for 2. I had 2 weird problems that seem like shouldnt exist together. First unscrewing the end to let ink flow didnt work unless I pulled the rod up or tapped the pen a few times. The second issue seemed like even when the seal was closed it seemed like ink still seeped through the seal. Plus to me it felt cheap though it looked nice.
I assume you have 2 V126s each with a different issue. One seals too much, one doesn''t seal. My V126 has been inked upped & in use since the video. I have 4 Asvine vac fillers in use, all work well. I keep blind capped unscrewed all the way all the time as I use the pens at my desk. Yes you need to unscrew it all the way, not unusual for a vac-filler. It will take some time for ink to flow to nib after opening up blind cap. Ink doesn't seep, it goes to the feed/nib.
@@chrisrap52 I used to have a Twsbi Vac 700R and with it I would write and when it started going dry Id unscrew the knob on the back and within seconds the feed was saturated with ink and I would be writing again. With the Asvine I let it sit nib down for 30 minutes and not a drop seemed to make it to the feed. I had to pull the knob to lift the rod up a few millimeters then within a couple seconds it could write however then pushing the rod back down to secure the cap caused ink to shoot out of the nib. Now method two to get it to work was to turn the know to open the seal and tap my finger on the side for 5 to 10 seconds to get the ink to flow into the feed. Either way this is not how I expected the pen to work and it wasnt how the other vac filler I used before worked. The other pen was the v169 I believe it was called. I hated the feel of the skeleton metal but one the whole it was a nice pen until one day I was uncapping it and the whole section unscrewed. Had I not noticed that it took a little more effort to unscrew it I wouldnt have stopped in time and I would have spilled ink everywhere. I owned that pen for about a week and had that occur 2 times during that week. Was too bad because it was a nice pen just as the v126 with the frosted look looked very nice. Thank you for reading and replying my previous comment.
Every pen is unique and has it's own way of working. I saw others who had their section unscrew. I did a video on mine to show the section would not unscrew unless it was loose. Fine thread & an o-ring on section, block threads on cap, takes more effort to unscrew section than unscrew cap. I enjoy finding out how each pen works for me. Hope you have other pens you enjoy.
@@chrisrap52 I watched that video and it was in depth. For me I tightened the section as hard as I could and for the first few days it was fine but then after 2 or 3 days it did it. Then i retightened it and once again 2 or 3 days later did it again. It was sad because it was a smooth writer and did look pretty cool. Maybe their next big model will be a winner for me, fingers crossed. I want to like their pens but so far for me I guess my luck hasnt been good. Thank you for the great review videos I was just watching one on the Moon Man Q1. Looks like an awesome pen.
Put some pure silicone grease on cap threads. Don't tighten cap too much. There is a solution waiting to be found.
It almost looks like a platinum 3776 mixed with a pilot 823. Only, much more inexpensive.
Interesting. Hadn't thought of that.
Thanks for the review! I'm not particularly fond of vacuum fillers. I hope that they bring this model out with a piston filler. 🙂
Can't have everything we want, but no harm in asking.
Please re-upload there is no audio. Thanks for the review!
Audio is OK. Check on your end.
@chrisrap52 Weird, audio worked on other videos but not yours, is working OK today. Thanks for the response!
Enjoyable review, as always Chris! Just one small correction (direct from the owner, Britumn Li), the brand is pronounced '...VINE', like a grape vine. The clue is on the included instructions -- where you'll see Asvine end in a flowered vine, in their script logo. I made a video on the subject last year: ua-cam.com/video/87DMekVUdi0/v-deo.html. 😉 Keep up the good work and videos!
Thanks. I will change my pronunciation.
@@chrisrap52 Thanks Chris -- you're the best (responding from my personal, not HisNibs account). 😃
