Phenomenal just phenomenal! I can't get my head wrapped around The lightning quick insurance approvals, Outremer's intense involvement, contracts let, professional inspections, and quality of work. Well done to all!!
Hi guys, why heart goes out to you no one likes anything to happen to the catamaran but I’m so glad that these guys are so professional make pairing your catamaran/home. Keep up the good work. Keep smiling I know it’s hard. Really appreciate your both , Cliff from Logan City Queensland Australia 🇦🇺
Thank you for the updates! Your resilience is amazing, the confluence of all the "just the right people, processes and support" is amazing! Hoping you can get her back in the water and get under way soon! Wish I could make it to Miami! Best of luck in the final stages of repairs and towards seeing it through on the third leg to Miami! 🎉
So great that this happened with so many great professionals on hand to repair your cat. It's so much like the first time your child gets injured. Traumatic and hopefully this will never happen again and it will be as good as new before you know it. Thank you for sharing this with us so when/if it ever happens to any of us, we understand the process. Knowledge is empowering. Hoping to get my ticket to Miami this week. Would love to see you guys there.
Every best wish for the journey ahead. Appreciate it is a bit geeky for UA-cam but would love to understand the technical design for the repair? Did the Outremer design team have a view/experience of a T-bone accident?
Thanks for sharing this boat yard repair experience which is really stressful even though everybody is doing everything correctly, remote housing, etc. Nice to see boat repairs done correctly.
Wow! Looks like they are making great progress and doing a really professional repair. Trying times, but you guys are handling this like true pros. Great to hear you are using Chris Parker for routing. Safe Travels.
What an enlightening video this is! I learnt so much about boat construction and repairs. You are right about patience. Probably one of the most important assets in being a sailing team/boat owners! Thank you for sharing!
Brilliant repair that stiffener certainly saved Awen form a lot worse damage. Must have been a lot of sideways movement I expect that’s why Holly was knocked over.looking forward to Vlogs on the next part ☘️☘️
Didn't' realize the damage was so extensive compounded by the fact taking an emotional toll due to current living situation , turning your boat "upside down" to accomplish the repair , delays of your cruising plans/ weather windows .
AWEN looks excellent! For as bad as it was, it could not have happened in a better location. Very nice repair. Fair winds on your next leg, I look forward to it...
Impressive repair worked especially using vac infusion which is,not speedy. my area of skills. Is,it gelcoat or painted hull ?. Both are challenging. Was the impact to the fwd side of the frame/bulkhead? Oh Holly to see, boat covered in tools .so hard! Only Teal from onboard life can work clean. He is,so ADD about it. Did you shoot any footage of the leaky window repair? Did you replace with a fixed or opening window? Wish I could get to Miami Cheers Warren
Yes, I do think I might exhibit OCD tendencies when everything is in disarray like that. There's so many things in boating that are outside your control so when that happens, I feel the need to either clean or be in a clean area since that is within my control (usually) :-) The window got replaced by a new one so we should be good to go!
Frankly, it made me almost nauseous when you showed the aftermath of the accident. If there is anything positive about the problem is that you are in the right place and have Outremer's active support to get it repaired professionally. Do you have any idea the rough estimate for the insurance claim? I'm thinking 250K USD.
Thank you for the updates. Did you get an idea what the repair is costing? Stephane, i think when you said the tearing up is ´impressive´, you meant it in the French way, f€%&
Yes, for sure. I say that to myself daily. The strangest times make the best stories 100%! We don't have final costs yet, the ballpark is 15-25k euro but who knows. -H
That sounds pretty reasonable. I trashed the front of my fiberglass fancy rv when I was in the US, beautiful repair by Holiday Rambler, paid fir by Compréhensive insurance, and it was 12k... Did the 'driver' bring you à bottle of wine and a truckfull of French pastries as way of apologies?
@laurence9695 yes actually he showed up with a box of expensive champagne but the timing was bad and I felt like drop kicking it off the boat. Meanwhile, we don’t really drink so we have been giving it to the guys in the yard 🤣
looks like you get the best repair work that possible could be done. Sorry for the damage but it looks like she will be at least as good as new when she is finished.

@trevorgent14 yes, they were working with the team on the ground to be sure the repairs were done to spec

Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching.
Great to see the progress, almost back on her hulls! After watching the Duracell project vlog for a year, a lot of the work certainly looks familiar.
Days to do are getting few! Hurry up and wait will soon be over and you can splash again! Stay safe guys, fair winds xx

Good to hear about the window replacement, looks like you have a great crew working on your boat. @@SailingAWEN

Amazingly, they are saying about 25k euros, but we’ll see 🤞🏻

When are you anticipating splashing?

Outremer is so fragile.....
Compared to what ? A tank? Absolutely.
