Can't believe it's already been so long, and a terrible shame half the series was destroyed in flooding, but it still holds as one of my favorite anime and I will usually watch it once a year when I need a really good cry.

I first watched this when I was 13 or 14 years old I am now 28 going on 29 in 2 months this is still one of these saddest animes I've seen of all time It is great and it was supposed to get another season but I don't know what happened
Dude, when I first saw this, I thought it would be a normal disappearance with a sad story. BUT the moment this song played with Yui having a dream sequence of what her life would look like if she met Hinata, I teared up.
The moment you realized that the Yui we knew who was loud, cheerful, and full of energy was because she was trying to live the life she never got. She was paralyze so she wasn’t used to move when she was alive. *-It really hits hard-*
In fact when i saw the after life thing, i cried so much, i never expected something like that, after hinata confessed to her, and vanished, i was already broke in tears, and i did the mistake of watching all the episode after that, i cried so loudly, i was lucky that my parents weren t there
It's really true too.. during the time she was still new I hated her for how she acted but then when that episode of how she was bed ridden her whole life and was a burden i instantly felt so bad and wanted to hug her so bad and say "everything is okay now..." man this show.... it's just as good and sad as the cosmos is huge.....

Run and hope that the damage he caused wasn't too severe. But the boy had a golden heart. He couldn't forgive himself if he didn't atleast apologize. So he did. He expected the kindly old lady at the door to yell at him, scold him for his reckless behavior. What he didn't expect was to be invited inside to apologize to the lady's daughter, whom he had nearly scared to death when the baseball crashed in her room. Scratching his head, the boy followed the lady up the stairs and into a blank corridor. It felt more akin to a hospital than a home, the rooms sterilized white and nothing like he thought a girl's room would be. It was there that the boy saw her, smiling awkwardly as he bowed his head. She didn't move from her position-- or rather, couldn't. The girl was paralyzed from the neck down, unable to stand, walk or grab his hand. She was helpless. The brightness of her smile barely masked her suffering. But... in that one moment, the two young children shared the same thought. "Have we... met before?"
Holy shit same. I'm not even sure why I'm crying I just remember this shit was sad as fuck. It's been years. This song, dango daikaizoku, and going marry song from one piece still make me cry even after years of seeing these scenes.
The actual pain in Lisa's voice is incredible.. you can feel the stoic heartbreak at the beginning, the struggling waver of her voice as she tries to find a reason to keep going, and the flood gate of emotion at the end upon finding a reason.. Play this at my wedding, my funeral, my birthday, my daughter's graduation, my great grand nephew's second cousin's bar mitzvah, I don't care, this song is a masterpiece.

I’ve always resonated so much with her character for the same reason. This anime literally saved my life and helped me process my trauma, learn to deal with a shitty hand and just keep going. I found my Hinata a few years ago and we’re now engaged. Life feels bright again. I hope you find yours ❤

So I can remember myself crying after the Yui episode, truly obssesin with this song, even crying for days, not truly understanding the whole meaning of the song and my mom laughing at me because she thinks it's just a phase, but now, 10 years later, I'm crying while I watch her sleep and listening to this song thanking God for another day that he has allow me to be with her, she has cancer, she doesn't have to much, every day I wake up with the horror that it may be her last.

Short answer: Yes, definitely worth watching. Interesting story and If you watch anime videos here on YT im sure you've seen clips of it at some point. Long answer: In my opinion yes, to me Chuunibyou is a story about young teens try to accept reality for what it is while trying to move on from their past. Some characters had to let go their deceased family member, others had to move on from embarrassing past full of regrets and others had to let go of love they had that will never be returned. Its a touching story about a condition that young teens develops to escape reality while still being pretty funny. But if I had to point out something I disliked about this Anime is would be the poor choices the male mc made in the end and the lack of kissing when it was expected(you will understand if you watch it). At the same time I understand why these things didn't happen and I don't count it against the anime. Note: anime focus is on romance 30%, friendship 20%, chuunibyou 40%, 10% ???

If you meant 2 version of this song, almost both of the song's lyrics are actually different. The first is dedicated for a person you love. The second is for everyone you cared for. Which, in all honesty, both are treasures.
This anime has so much sentimental value to me. The first girl I ever fell in love with introduced this show to me because she knew that I loved anime and she wanted to show me that she was willing to try new things like watching anime for my sake. I always enjoyed the show for years and even after an awful breakup due to my parents forcing us to break up even though we still wanted to be together. We hid our relationship for four years and were off and on the whole time due to the fear of my family finding out since they planned on moving me across the state just to get me away from her. By senior year of high school, she was in a relationship with another guy and I started dating my now girlfriend of three years. I still loved her as much as I did when we first started dating, but I knew it was for the best to try and move on... a year later, I got news on Christmas Day that she committed suicide.. it was a devastating shock to me and I didn’t know how to respond to it and ended up internalizing the feeling of grief and pain for two years. Every time I hear this song from Angel Beats, it reminds me of her as well as fond memories of watching this anime with her. I miss her dearly and I wish I could have told her how I still felt about her before she took her life. But I didn’t, and that’s a regret that I’ll carry with me to my grave. Despite all this, I still love this anime from beginning to end. Edit: I know that it’s been a while since I made this comment and I’m incredibly thankful for everyone’s support. Since she’s passed, I’ve grown and learned to turn my pain and turn something out of it. Recently, I actually was able to give a TEDx talk over pain and pleasure and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who wished me well and stood up for me when some people came and wanted to spew hatred towards my situation. You all deserve the most in this life and I hope that you never have to feel the kind of pain that I and I’m sure many others have gone through as well. ❤️ Edit #2: Jeez…it’s been a year since I wrote this and things have gotten a little better with moving on. As it’s almost the anniversary of her death I did what I could to gain closure and move forward. From the love and support from my girlfriend of five years now, and the support from you all, I’ve still been going strong. Now, a video of me dancing in a Yakuza cosplay has gone viral and the overwhelming response of smiles and people telling me that I’ve made their days just a little better means the world to me. Knowing that I could make some people happy and feel better from that video along with the TEDx talk, feels like I’m doing right by Mayriah, my first love who passed away. She was always doing her best to make people laugh and smile. So to carry on that torch is the least I can do to carry on her memory. Thank you. All of you.

This anime teaches you how to be thankful for your life. You weren't held at gunpoint and told to find money or someone will shoot your siblings every 10 minutes. You weren't hit with a bottle in the head by your dad and ended up dying in a kitchen. You weren't born a burden for your mother, since you couldn't move or walk. You didn't die in a tunnel from dehydration right before help came. Be thankful T^T

I was ready to end my life. The despair that I felt was immeasurable in my own eyes, every memory I had was a painful experience that haunted me when I tried to sleep, and even happy moments were tainted by this sense of anxiety and sadness. The world seemed to be ending in my eyes and anything other than another event to regret was bliss in my mind. I spent months wasting time away avoiding all of my issues and hoping it would all fix itself.. And then I found Angel Beats, I had never watched anime, and in the state I was in I thought I had nothing to lose. But in reality I really thought I had nothing to gain either... However, after watching this episode and hearing this song something changed within me. I began to feel for the first time in years and tears rolled down my face like never before. The raw emotion in this song really changed how I view the world and what I want in life. I never want anyone to feel the same way I did back then. To feel worthless, to feel despised, to feel like you have nothing to offer. You do, and I will say it a thousand times if it is needed. Even if it is only your raw emotion, the world deserves to hear it, it needs to hear it. No feeling in your life was ever pointless, it all serves a purpose, and it needs to be heard. Jun Maeda's work and his music has been an inspiration for me. I will never forget the way I felt listening to his music. I want to spread this message in my own way, I will write, I will draw, I will compose whatever is needed to make my emotions heard. Even if I cannot do anything of these things, I will not give in. And so, I will leave you with the wisdom that I have learned from this experience of hardship. I hope that you never will feel the same way as I did. Or worse how people don't feel at all anymore. And what pain everyday life can be and how you want to end it all. Keep your new attitude up there's a reason to be here you just have to find the right reason(s) for you to move on no matter how big, little, life changing or anything else they might feel to other e.g. othter persons :) To pick up your points about Angel Beats I can just generally speak that there were a lot Anime that really cheered me up and even told life lessons or just brought joy to everyday life :) Of course Angel Beat as well as this song which I genuinelly think is one of the most beatiful one's I've ever heard but there is so much more to enjoy and choose from but unfortunetally many people can't grasp the beauty behind certain media or are just closed and not willing to give it a try or because of other people's opinions. I NEVER cry while watching anything but this show, this show man left me starring at my screen crying my eyes out all night. I can't even look at anything related to angel beats or I start to tear up. Forever one of the saddest things i have ever seen. It was a fun feels train to be on.
Yui's story was the one that came to me as the most surprising yet depressing. Did not expect a comic relief character like her to have such a depressing history. Kanade obliterating in front of Otonashi was sad but Yui disappearing brought a tear to my eye, the music playing in the background helped as well. I may not want to end up marrying someday like her because I'm not the romantic type, but I can relate to all of her other problems. When she wanted to try all the things she saw on TV on her hospital bed but can't due to her condition, that hit me real hard. I spent most of my high school life stuck in a hospital bed as well due to stomach problems, however the difference between me and her is that my mom already has long passed since that time so it hurts twice as much for me. I just sat there watching TV and wondering what I wanted to do with my life. When she practically gave up hope, that hit me as well because I definitely know what that feels like. To give up on your hopes and dreams due to a condition that you have no power over like that, it makes you feel pathetic and worthless. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go watch some One Punch Man action scenes to recover from all this...

It gives them a special kind of feeling that no one else can feel when they watch those anime because they themselves can relate to it. Although I honestly don't want myself or others to experience such things, sometimes I feel left out. I'm yearning to find an anime that really expresses how I live, even if the resemblence is subtle. I just want to have that special connection, even if the character is made up, that means the person who wrote the story understands people like us. So really, it actually is a real person living through the same stuff you're going through. And now, I'll cease my attention whore rant.

However, having an anime out there that resembles all of the hardships I've had to go through in life is both the most touching yet hard things I've had to watch. It's basically the reason why I wrote my comment in the first place. Touching because I can relate to one of the characters even if they are fictional. It means the writer basically understands how people like me have suffered. Hard because it's a reminder of all the things I've had to go through. Yui wanting to do the stuff she wanted to do and then giving up because of the condition she had at the time reminded me of myself when I was still stuck in the hospital. Either way it shows how clever the writing for Yui is, since 90% of the comments here is about her and how sad her story is.

Finished this anime not too long ago. This scene hit me so hard I ended up crying a lot. It reminded me of a person I used to love who had similar conditions to Yui. She had to visit hospital very often, and even had to stay there for long periods of time. She was always very cheerful and positive despite her illness she had to deal with, I really admired her and over time I felt more and more attached to her personality and then ended up falling for her. I didn't care how ill she was, I loved her very much and wanted to stay by her side even if it was difficult. But, I was very scared she would cut me off if I revealed it to her that I liked her because I had an idea how she would've reacted and then I would've lost her completely. So I decided to keep my true feelings in for years, never trying to ask her out. Part of me wishes I did, but I didn't know what would've happened, maybe we wouldn't have been even friends in the end. Over time she found her true Love. It felt horrible, but it was really my fault for not trying atleast. Suprisingly I got over it quickly because I knew that she is happy, that made me happy as well. We don't talk very much at all now, but atleast I know she has someone to rely on and fight together. I know they can overcome any difficulties together and that puts me at ease. If that person happens to read this comment that will shortly get lost in the comment section. I'm very happy for you both, please stay together forever. Love you. :') Anyways, i'm glad I can give this out of my chest. Thank you Angel Beats! for reminding me of this wonderful person, i'll never forget her.

Last year, I was teaching English to Japanese students. After class, a student asked me what's my favorite song. I answered "Ichiban no Takaramono" and we both smiled because the student knows the song too. I like this song so much
This anime destroyed my soul, built me back up, destroyed it again, built me back up, and repeated the cycle through the very last scene. To this day, whenever this song pops into my head the waterworks explode no matter where I'm at.
Angel Beats has a lot of strong points, especially hiding the depth of its drama behind every humor and silliness that occurs, so I felt like this anime is going to be unforgettable for many viewers.
Amazing how almost ten years after finding this show it still brings me to tears hearing the music. Even after watching so many times it still makes me sob seeing Iwasawa move on, hearing Hinata tell Yui he would marry her regardless of her handicap, seeing Yuri cry as she hugs Kanade, Otonashi pleading for Kanade to stay with him, seeing the huge group photo of Triple S one by one fading. To this day it is the only anime that I have ever seen to move me to tears and that I can still classify as perfect in every way.
I'll admit it I'm a Guy and I balled my eyes out at the end of the show.. It hit my feelings hard it reminded me of the childhood I never got to have I grew up being a loner my only friends are on xbox.. Then when I watched this.. I couldn't help but to cry I couldn't help but to smile I've never connected to a show like I did with Angel Beats.. Thank you for giving my life to me

Agreed thats why i like this anime so much, its not just about the final plot, imo the most powerful moments in the anime include yui's death and iwasawa's death. These two scenes moved me the most.

I've just finished watching this episode and I can say I think it's one of the saddest, sweetest, most heart-warming things I've ever seen... That Hinata was willing to marry Yui in the real world, despite her being paralysed. This anime makes you grateful for what you have, even though you may feel like you're living in hell, that these people had some of the worst experiences.....I salute you, SSS.... ❤️

I don't think that will ever happen because of two reasons. One: It's been way too long since season 1. Two: A sweet happily ever after was never intended for Angel Beats. The afterlife was a place where Otonashi and the others could have the childhood they missed out on in their lives. After they got that they were able to move on from everything. They found peace and got another shot at life. I can live with that.
@@alpha-sama I think your first reason doesn't make sense, especially considering how many anime get second seasons or OVAs, specials, movies, etc. even though they're old. The second one, however, I do believe holds water. As much as it pains me, Angel Beats was so impactful BECAUSE it's not a stereotypically happy ending. Hell, there's even an alternative ending where Otonashi is still in the afterlife helping people. I'm open to a second season, or maybe a reunion episode, but you're probably right. The whole premise is dissatisfaction with your previous life, and showing us satisfying lives isn't what Angel Beats is about - it simply isn't compatible. Sorry about the long answer, but I really enjoyed this show, and the ending made it one of only 2 anime to actually make me tear up. (Otonashi's backstory got me, too)

But the boy had a golden heart. He couldn't forgive himself if he didn't atleast apologize. So he did. He expected the kindly old lady at the door to yell at him, scold him for his reckless behavior. What he didn't expect was to be invited inside to apologize to the lady's daughter, whom he had nearly scared to death when the baseball crashed in her room.
Scratching his head, the boy followed the lady up the stairs and into a blank corridor. It felt more akin to a hospital than a home, the rooms sterilized white and nothing like he thought a girl's room would be.
It was there that the boy saw her, smiling awkwardly as he bowed his head. She didn't move from her position-- or rather, couldn't. The girl was paralyzed from the neck down, unable to stand, walk or grab his hand. She was helpless. The brightness of her smile barely masked her suffering.
But... in that one moment, the two young children shared the same thought.

Yui made my cry, being disabled myself I feel for her. I lost many things only to have humanity giving me a reason to fight on. I can only hope for a person to love me like Hinata did for Yui
I’ve always resonated so much with her character for the same reason. This anime literally saved my life and helped me process my trauma, learn to deal with a shitty hand and just keep going. I found my Hinata a few years ago and we’re now engaged. Life feels bright again. I hope you find yours ❤

Long answer:
In my opinion yes, to me Chuunibyou is a story about young teens try to accept reality for what it is while trying to move on from their past. Some characters had to let go their deceased family member, others had to move on from embarrassing past full of regrets and others had to let go of love they had that will never be returned.
Its a touching story about a condition that young teens develops to escape reality while still being pretty funny.
But if I had to point out something I disliked about this Anime is would be the poor choices the male mc made in the end and the lack of kissing when it was expected(you will understand if you watch it). At the same time I understand why these things didn't happen and I don't count it against the anime.

This anime has so much sentimental value to me. The first girl I ever fell in love with introduced this show to me because she knew that I loved anime and she wanted to show me that she was willing to try new things like watching anime for my sake. I always enjoyed the show for years and even after an awful breakup due to my parents forcing us to break up even though we still wanted to be together. We hid our relationship for four years and were off and on the whole time due to the fear of my family finding out since they planned on moving me across the state just to get me away from her. By senior year of high school, she was in a relationship with another guy and I started dating my now girlfriend of three years. I still loved her as much as I did when we first started dating, but I knew it was for the best to try and move on... a year later, I got news on Christmas Day that she committed suicide.. it was a devastating shock to me and I didn’t know how to respond to it and ended up internalizing the feeling of grief and pain for two years. Every time I hear this song from Angel Beats, it reminds me of her as well as fond memories of watching this anime with her. I miss her dearly and I wish I could have told her how I still felt about her before she took her life. But I didn’t, and that’s a regret that I’ll carry with me to my grave. Despite all this, I still love this anime from beginning to end.
Edit: I know that it’s been a while since I made this comment and I’m incredibly thankful for everyone’s support. Since she’s passed, I’ve grown and learned to turn my pain and turn something out of it. Recently, I actually was able to give a TEDx talk over pain and pleasure and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who wished me well and stood up for me when some people came and wanted to spew hatred towards my situation. You all deserve the most in this life and I hope that you never have to feel the kind of pain that I and I’m sure many others have gone through as well. ❤️
Edit #2: Jeez…it’s been a year since I wrote this and things have gotten a little better with moving on. As it’s almost the anniversary of her death I did what I could to gain closure and move forward. From the love and support from my girlfriend of five years now, and the support from you all, I’ve still been going strong. Now, a video of me dancing in a Yakuza cosplay has gone viral and the overwhelming response of smiles and people telling me that I’ve made their days just a little better means the world to me. Knowing that I could make some people happy and feel better from that video along with the TEDx talk, feels like I’m doing right by Mayriah, my first love who passed away. She was always doing her best to make people laugh and smile. So to carry on that torch is the least I can do to carry on her memory. Thank you. All of you.

Jun Maeda's work and his music has been an inspiration for me. I will never forget the way I felt listening to his music. I want to spread this message in my own way, I will write, I will draw, I will compose whatever is needed to make my emotions heard. Even if I cannot do anything of these things, I will not give in.
And so, I will leave you with the wisdom that I have learned from this experience of hardship. I hope that you never will feel the same way as I did.

Many people suffer in their daily life's due to different problems and I'm not here to say that I fully understand what you've gone through but let me say this you're a really strong person and everbody that comes out of situations like this is because most of the people aren't able to understand which emotions one is feeling. Or worse how people don't feel at all anymore. And what pain everyday life can be and how you want to end it all. Keep your new attitude up there's a reason to be here you just have to find the right reason(s) for you to move on no matter how big, little, life changing or anything else they might feel to other e.g. othter persons :)
To pick up your points about Angel Beats I can just generally speak that there were a lot Anime that really cheered me up and even told life lessons or just brought joy to everyday life :) Of course Angel Beat as well as this song which I genuinelly think is one of the most beatiful one's I've ever heard but there is so much more to enjoy and choose from but unfortunetally many people can't grasp the beauty behind certain media or are just closed and not willing to give it a try or because of other people's opinions.

Yui's story was the one that came to me as the most surprising yet depressing. Did not expect a comic relief character like her to have such a depressing history. Kanade obliterating in front of Otonashi was sad but Yui disappearing brought a tear to my eye, the music playing in the background helped as well.
I may not want to end up marrying someday like her because I'm not the romantic type, but I can relate to all of her other problems. When she wanted to try all the things she saw on TV on her hospital bed but can't due to her condition, that hit me real hard. I spent most of my high school life stuck in a hospital bed as well due to stomach problems, however the difference between me and her is that my mom already has long passed since that time so it hurts twice as much for me.
I just sat there watching TV and wondering what I wanted to do with my life. When she practically gave up hope, that hit me as well because I definitely know what that feels like. To give up on your hopes and dreams due to a condition that you have no power over like that, it makes you feel pathetic and worthless.
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm gonna go watch some One Punch Man action scenes to recover from all this...

Not saying that having conditions and hardships like that happening to you was a good thing, but I see people's stories everywhere about how their lives are kind of reflected in the anime they watch. It gives them a special kind of feeling that no one else can feel when they watch those anime because they themselves can relate to it.
Although I honestly don't want myself or others to experience such things, sometimes I feel left out. I'm yearning to find an anime that really expresses how I live, even if the resemblence is subtle. I just want to have that special connection, even if the character is made up, that means the person who wrote the story understands people like us. So really, it actually is a real person living through the same stuff you're going through.

However, having an anime out there that resembles all of the hardships I've had to go through in life is both the most touching yet hard things I've had to watch. It's basically the reason why I wrote my comment in the first place.
Touching because I can relate to one of the characters even if they are fictional. It means the writer basically understands how people like me have suffered.
Hard because it's a reminder of all the things I've had to go through. Yui wanting to do the stuff she wanted to do and then giving up because of the condition she had at the time reminded me of myself when I was still stuck in the hospital.
Either way it shows how clever the writing for Yui is, since 90% of the comments here is about her and how sad her story is.
All the dislikes are people who tried to hit like but couldnt see cause the tears in their eyes.

So, of course, i presented this song. (3:30 - 4:37) So after that part was over, I continued, and said this; (Its translated from french to English for you non french people.)
'This song is important to me because i think that no matter your impairment, you are amazing. An emotion i'd associate with the song? In the afterlife, she'd accomplished almost all the things she'd desired, except for one thing; marriage. She'd always wanted to be married but was too young. Finished this anime not too long ago. This scene hit me so hard I ended up crying a lot. It reminded me of a person I used to love who had similar conditions to Yui.
She had to visit hospital very often, and even had to stay there for long periods of time. She was always very cheerful and positive despite her illness she had to deal with, I really admired her and over time I felt more and more attached to her personality and then ended up falling for her. I didn't care how ill she was, I loved her very much and wanted to stay by her side even if it was difficult.
But, I was very scared she would cut me off if I revealed it to her that I liked her because I had an idea how she would've reacted and then I would've lost her completely. So I decided to keep my true feelings in for years, never trying to ask her out. Part of me wishes I did, but I didn't know what would've happened, maybe we wouldn't have been even friends in the end.
Over time she found her true Love. It felt horrible, but it was really my fault for not trying atleast. Suprisingly I got over it quickly because I knew that she is happy, that made me happy as well.
We don't talk very much at all now, but atleast I know she has someone to rely on and fight together. I know they can overcome any difficulties together and that puts me at ease.
If that person happens to read this comment that will shortly get lost in the comment section. I'm very happy for you both, please stay together forever. Love you. :')
Anyways, i'm glad I can give this out of my chest. Thank you Angel Beats! for reminding me of this wonderful person, i'll never forget her.

This anime destroyed my soul, built me back up, destroyed it again, built me back up, and repeated the cycle through the very last scene. To this day, whenever this song pops into my head the waterworks explode no matter where I'm at.

Angel Beats has a lot of strong points, especially hiding the depth of its drama behind every humor and silliness that occurs, so I felt like this anime is going to be unforgettable for many viewers.

Amazing how almost ten years after finding this show it still brings me to tears hearing the music. Even after watching so many times it still makes me sob seeing Iwasawa move on, hearing Hinata tell Yui he would marry her regardless of her handicap, seeing Yuri cry as she hugs Kanade, Otonashi pleading for Kanade to stay with him, seeing the huge group photo of Triple S one by one fading. To this day it is the only anime that I have ever seen to move me to tears and that I can still classify as perfect in every way.
I'll admit it I'm a Guy and I balled my eyes out at the end of the show.. It hit my feelings hard it reminded me of the childhood I never got to have
I grew up being a loner my only friends are on xbox.. Then when I watched this.. I couldn't help but to cry I couldn't help but to smile
I've never connected to a show like I did with Angel Beats..

Agreed thats why i like this anime so much, its not just about the final plot, imo the most powerful moments in the anime include yui's death and iwasawa's death. These two scenes moved me the most.

I've just finished watching this episode and I can say I think it's one of the saddest, sweetest, most heart-warming things I've ever seen... That Hinata was willing to marry Yui in the real world, despite her being paralysed. This anime makes you grateful for what you have, even though you may feel like you're living in hell, that these people had some of the worst experiences.....I salute you, SSS.... ❤️

I don't think that will ever happen because of two reasons. One: It's been way too long since season 1. Two: A sweet happily ever after was never intended for Angel Beats. The afterlife was a place where Otonashi and the others could have the childhood they missed out on in their lives. After they got that they were able to move on from everything. They found peace and got another shot at life. I can live with that.
@@alpha-sama I think your first reason doesn't make sense, especially considering how many anime get second seasons or OVAs, specials, movies, etc. even though they're old. The second one, however, I do believe holds water. As much as it pains me, Angel Beats was so impactful BECAUSE it's not a stereotypically happy ending. Hell, there's even an alternative ending where Otonashi is still in the afterlife helping people. I'm open to a second season, or maybe a reunion episode, but you're probably right. The whole premise is dissatisfaction with your previous life, and showing us satisfying lives isn't what Angel Beats is about - it simply isn't compatible.
Sorry about the long answer, but I really enjoyed this show, and the ending made it one of only 2 anime to actually make me tear up. (Otonashi's backstory got me, too)
