  • Porsche 911 (992) was put on the Celette car frame machine and universal jig system Cameleon to have its front end replaced during on the job training for one of our customers in Bangkok. The Cameleon was set up according to the online datasheet and was also used to measure, as well as a template to hold new parts in place to have them glued, welded and riveted to the car. Video was made at TSL Auto.

    A great system. Comparisons with Arthur Tussik are meaningless; Celette and Arthur do things differently. You can take a different route to the same place , and you can both arrive there. No doubt Arthur is a repair wizard with even rudimentary tools and skills than many of today's body repair people do not have. This is a modern repair method, and it ensures supreme accuracy. Well done to Celette for giving Arthur the respect he deserves.

    I remember 20+ years ago using this jig at a Renault Dealership. I'm sure the brackets were fixed and came in a big metal box. You tied down the rear suspension bolts first then worked forwards. I always preferred this system, if the chassis didn't fit you hadn't pulled enough. So much clearer than giant measuring tapes.

    • @Celette
      @Celette  3 роки тому

      Thank you for your comment! You're right, it is a pleasure to work with dedicated fixtures. There is no room for a mistake. The only downside of it, as you wrote, is the big metal box that you have for each platform of the vehicles, so customers created collections of jigs for different brands and models. The Cameleon system, used in this video, is a revolution in our segment, it can be used for any brand and any model. The software is online and it takes just a moment to load the layout you need. It is one time purchase with the annual subscription to our wide database.

    System is interesting but I think procedure is wrong. According to Porsche workshop manual all the holes must be drilled as part of the prep process. I dont see application of bonding glue as well. Correct order would be: drill holes, debur, apply adhesive, fit, the apply rivets.

      In America its a little better. Skilled body and paint people, as well as mechanics, can earn 90,000 -180,000 + GBP in America. Large automobile and truck dealerships on the east and west coasts generally pay even more for highly skilled tradespeople. When I left the Dodge dealership in 1995 because of a medical emergency, I was making 20.35 USD /18 GBP an hour flat rate. I received a guarantee of 37.50 hours. So my weekly pay was a minimum of 763.00 USD /680 GBP to a high of 1500 + USD / 1338 GBP. I had a few close friends at Toyota who consistently earned 110,000 USD/ 98,000 GBP yearly in 1995. You can make a very nice living if you are skilled and consistently make customers smile. Let us hope the UK comes up to speed with its tradesmen's pay.

    Im trying to understand why they didn't pull out the damaged RH rail before removing? This is a basic necessity as a panelbeater tradesman knows. Pull out as much as possible to straighten what you can then remove welds/rivets etc to replace. That RH top skirt area next to firewall would have been slightly tweaked inwards.

      Hi there! You have an interesting opinion. But, have you ever seen Artur use a jig or take measurements of any suspension or axle mounting points? The way he repairs vehicles would not be allowed in any reputable shop. He has metal skills but sorry not a clue on how the modern vehicle is supposed to be repaired. Artur Tussik uses non-approved methods and does not work according to the manufacturers recommendations regarding repairs. If you work for an insurance company, if you’re a technician, if you own a car repair shop, no matter what role you play in this industry, you have to understand that what he does is wrong. But, we thank you for watching our video and we wish you safe and happy life!

      That is my observation as well and I have just left a similar comment. It there was sealant or bonding glue, some of it would certainly would have to have shown up at the rivet holes. But I did not see any. So my concern is that bonding sealant was left out, simply to make the job faster and assuming the new owner would only notice years away, when the vehicle started rusting from within. This sort of thing is my number one concern with any repair and apparently the last concern of any repair shop.

    A slick set up for sure , that jig must have cost a pretty penny , But then they don't de-bur the freshly drilled holes so the rivets now have a shear point .
    additionally , the new tub lined up with the previous locations and mounting points so well , makes you wonder if they needed the jig it at all ......
    lastly the time involved to set it up .... i presume this was a first or second time to set it up ? say $200 per hour X 6 staff ..... buy a new car lol .
    but impressive to see it done .

At that moment they wanted to repair this 992 with our universal fixture system. Celette provided the equipment as well as the training, but the rest was all up to the technicians how they will conduct the repair. Lastly, the man-hour is very different from country to country, in Asia it is very cheap, so it was not even close to the number you guessed. For sure it was worth to repair. We wish you nice weekend ahead!
