I remember years ago people were making molds from toilet paper. They would take a silicone mold, say of flowers, and they would pack in the tp and I'm not sure if they used water or a mix of water and Mod Podge or just Mod Podge. It would sit till dry and they would pop out of the mold like a little clay figure that could be painted. But it was made of toilet paper. (Hope this makes sense) This just reminded me of that. Lol Thanks again Joie!
What a great idea ! And again such a beautiful result ! Absolutely stunning ! I love this! Thank you very much for sharing another (literally) brilliant idea and the very clear explanations you give. It's so inspiring and beautiful. Thank you.

Lovely effect! I will admit when I first saw it, and how regally fancy they were, it did make me think 'By Royal Appointment' as you do indeed get on some brands of toilet paper, lol - fancy enough for HRM et all, hahaha! I remember years and years ago seeing Ali Reeve play with toilet paper in a Big Shot on Create & Craft. She would use several sheets and thoroughly wet it and run it through so it became like something akin to blotting paper or mulberry paper. She would also put pressed flowers and things in the layers so they became embedded, and just visible through the thin layers. Once dry you could cut it with scissors. Really amazing (but very messy - lots of towels on top of the set desk top, lol, because all the water was squeezed out as it was run through the machine), and I wish I could better remember/explain the technique. I might have even been sensible and made notes at the time. If I find any, I will pass them on to you if you don't already know of it as a process.
Amazingly, I did write notes! I have found them! Quite a few techniques too - all involving loo roll and a Big Shot (or equivalent - so long as it isn't electrical, obviously, due to the amount of wet that gets squeezed out). Some involving ink, some involving embedding pot pourri and all sorts. Mustn't dry them with a heat gun (the layers separate), but you can tear them while still damp to get a pretty feathered edge... all sorts of info if you are interested
Our toilet paper has embossed flowers on it. Very sparsely located however. Hard to find just plain t.p. here. I dont have much for embossing either. I have the small die cutter....the width is 3 inches. They dont sell much for thats size as far as embossing folders
You always amaze me. You come up with so many different things to do and you don’t show them until you tried it all first so we know what works and what doesn’t. 👏🏻another winner😊❤️
Wow! Oh yeah, I'll totally be trying this out. I note the toilet paper role is very plain and "unembossed" to begin with. Which means it will be rather budget friendly 😀😀 (and there-in starts the Next Toilet Paper Shortage of 2022 for mysterious reasons!) 😉
The phrase 'who knew' comes to my mind with this video! Firstly, embossed toilet paper, second that you can actually sew on it!!! What great ideas! Thank you for always bringing something new to the dinner table:)
Wow! Talk about unique! You did such a beautiful job! I love the painting you did! It brought such beauty to your projects! Thank you for this great tutorial! God bless! Love hugs and prayers my friend! 🌻😇🧡🤗🙏🌻
"Moulton metal" describes this perfectly! I don't have gouache paint tubes but I did just get some metallic water color paints like yours that I can give this a try with. I was gonna ask about the paper absorbing the water too much but it seems that works in our favor and does not make the color spread like I thought it might. Joie, you're the best! Love and hugs, Ems ❤️🤗🏜🤗❤️
I made a toilet paper journal in 2019 and embossing was a part of the lovely things people sent me but I didn't paint the embossed part. I'm going to share this. Genius!! 🐞 Namaste 🥰
I wonder if you could brayer a heavy body paint on the raised pattern side of the embossing folder before running thru the machine??? I dunno. I appreciate you for your wonderful videos! Cheers!
What a creative idea! Looks GREAT! I would never think of it, MUST try.... :-) PS - it seems that separating the columns of decor could be done with the watercolor/wet brush ? It would give the ripped effect ...
Greetings from Snowy Calgary! Well Joie this is a first for me, Who Knew? You always give us something new and exciting to create and you have done it again, this turned out Gorgeous, Thank you! Enjoy your weekend ☃️💕
I bet you could use a stencil and acrylic paint or puffy type paint to do this. Toilet roll is a very interesting choice. It's light but takes the paint and embossing well. SMART IDEA.
wow!!! that is fabulous!!! Coincidentally I was in search of something and came across (from almost 20 years ago!) using wet toilet paper and using a stamp to stamp on it (with no ink) , making it look embossed! Maybe it's time to take out the old Cuttlebug!!! Thanks for your inspirations! They sure don't make videos like they used to but yours always has something new!!
Joie: well, this is a surprise and amazing. Clever use of TP. This is a very creative idea. The finished pieces turned out lovely. Carol from California
Too time consuming for me. I would prefer to use stamps and embossing powders as they are much faster and consistent. The toilet paper seems a frugal item but any absorbent paper should work.
A nice idea. I will try it but using the plain back layers taken from a decoupaged napkin. I have also seen in the past where toilet roll sheets were coloured and then die cut when compressed. Surprisingly it worked!
You are so creative. I love how you use objects that we have in our home. I don't have an embossing machine but then I went and looked at my toilet paper and it is already embossed. So I will give it a try at painting it. If it works I will put it on Instagram and take you so you can see it. I love the way that you have used it and would so like to do it all so. Love and hugs for a great weekend
This is pure genius Joie! It looks like brocade😍. I've embossed foil and greaseproof paper but never loo roll 🙊.... Yet! I'd have thought the water would flatten out the embossing but it's perfect! The teal is beautiful 😍. Oh I was thinking kitchen roll 🙈 but mine has colour on. Love love love it, thank you I'm off to look through my embossing folders. Just loaned my Christmas ones to my Mother in law 🤦😄. Tfs and have a great day 💖💖💖 Ps, I hope you don't get caught short for loo roll 🙊
so pretty - what a wonderful idea - i don't own an embossing machine so i need to do some thinking on how to recreate this - thank you for this wonderful inspiring creation!! xx
@@joiedefi I’ve learned so much from you - fun, okay to experiment, what you love, just do it. Coming out of over 3 years of health “challenges” I’m finding that creativity and just relaxing with whatever I like to do and finding a style, are such good therapy. Your references to others has helped so much, too. And I want to “fix” my craft room (clean it up!). Anyway, thank you.
Verry strange using toilet paper, but stunning! Thank you so much!
You're very welcome!🌹
Simply beautiful, who knew?❤
Indeed!!💜
I’ve gotta say Mrs. Joie, I’ve never seen anyone use toilet paper itself as a craft supply. Looks great!🥰
Thanks very much!🥰🤓
Even just embossing the loo roll looked amazing! Then you glammed it up so beautifully, I love your unique decorations xxx💕
Hooray!!!🌹👍
Beautiful embellishments; who knew? 😊
Hehe, indeed 😱🤓

Well, you have to admit that this is a unique conversation starter. I will definitely be using this technique.
Hehe, I have to agree... At least it's original 😱🤣🤣🌹

Hehe, yes the paper seems to draw in the water and leave the coloured mica on top!!👍🤓🥰
Whoa! Who knew this was possible! Appears puffy paint would be best since it’s thicker and not as liquidy as regular paint
That's a very interesting idea, thanks so much for your suggestion Tiffany!!👍🥰

Wow. If you wouldn't have stated what type of paper you used, I don't think anyone would've guessed. Amazing. It looks tedious, but really amazing. ❤️
I suggest just using a small piece each time, but it's probably not quite as tedious as it looks....and worth it!!🤣🤣🤣🤓👍

GORGEOUS!! Are those envelopes that you mail or just for cards? Do you seal them?
I only use them in journals and Happy Mail, but I believe you could seal them and use them in the UK.
