Thank you so much for making this! It was perfect! I've been wanting to make my handwriting into a font for ages, but I'm too cheap to pay to do it just to test it, and so many of the tutorials online are super outdated and no longer helpful. This was amazing, and the step by step was great for a beginner and just thank you so much for making this content!
I always learn so much from your videos! I have created fonts, but never anything I truly wanted to use. I am going to try again with these ideas and my own handwriting ... well, not my normal handwriting but hopefully the best version of my handwriting
I definitely recommend you try it - it doesn't take very long and is much easier than iFontMaker because you can use the Procreate app to write (and use all the brushes!) 😄 You'll surprise yourself with how neat it looks! 🤗
.. oh - and one of the reason I made this tutorial is because of you! You mentioned the iFontMaker app, but I never liked that app, so in the back of my mind I was always looking for a nicer way of creating a font on the iPad 😇
@@iPadLettering Oh good. I am glad my comment was useful to you. I don't have a strong opinion about iFontMaker so I look forward to trying Caligrapher.
This was a great tutorial! Answered a lot of problems I was having when I used a pen and calligraphr instead of using procreate. I think you should add a part 2 (in my humble opinion lol), how can you sell your font or upload your font to a website to sell? You are awesome, thanks again!
Oh Karin I wish I had this a week ago. I made two fonts using all the same apps but didn’t understand the adjustments that could be made and truthfully I didn’t take the time to really figure out how to use the lines in the template. My first font was way too small and thin. The second was better but still not a thick enough stroke to really look good. I plan to go back and make a third font but now I’m armed with your wonderful tutorial. Thank you.
Awww - I'm so happy you are saying this because this is exactly why I made the tutorial 🥰 I saw someone else make one, but they didn't explain all the details I thought needed to be explained - and so I decided to do it instead 😇 Have fun with your font making and I really hope your 3rd font will turn out exactly as you wanted 🙏🏼🤗
Hello Karin this was so satisfying to do, but I did encounter a problem. When I finally tested my script in Procreate it produced text which kept jumping from upper case to lower case randomly even though upper case wasn’t always switched on . The result is an attractive naive child like hand but not what I intended. Any ideas what went wrong? Thank you for your help.
Ohh - it sounds like you created a very interesting font! I wonder if you accidentally ticked the 'randomize' checkbox when you built the font? Not sure if that would do it, but it's the only thing I can think of 🤗
This is so great! I’ve been able to use Canva which I already purchased and it worked! Do you know a way to fix letters that are too high or too low without redoing?
Hi Karin, tnx a lot for this supernice video, it helpt me a lot!! I tried it and I was not completely happy with the results, so I changed some letters and installed the new font. But after I removed the old font from my Ipad Files, this old font was still there… 🤷🏻♀️ Do you know how I can fix it, so that I can use the new font? Greetings, Lydia
Thanks for this Karin - really clearly explained. I've made fonts before and had Procreate for years but never used it! Can I just ask, the couple of brushes you recommend I can't see in Procreate - are they from a different subscription or something you've bought separately? Thanks again :)
so, how does IP work with these programs? are they fonts yours? do you owe them a percentage? doe it become their copyright once you publcih it on their software? or is it all yours?
can you do this with the pocket procreate? I tried importing to procreate but the template file is grayed out so it won't let me import it unless i save each template in photos.
While I’m thankful for this video as it is SUPER helpful, I’m curious to know if the step of installing the font onto the iPad can be skipped & instead downloaded directly into procreate after being made?
Hiya! Yes you can install the font directly into Procreate without installing it on the iPad - use the ‘Import Font’ option from the Text dialog box 😄 I personally prefer having the font available for all iPad apps 😇🤗
Yes me too, and I still do it now actually. But I thought this was a fun way to create simple font! I'm just about to release another font making tutorial where I'm using a different app that uses vectors - you'll be able to watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/uqzzXod8AV8/v-deo.html
hiya! You can use my brushes to create anything you like - personal or commercial - as long as you don’t share / sell the brushes or modified versions of them. No special license required 😄
Any recommendations for turning someone else's handwriting into a font? I'd love to turn my grandma's handwriting into a font based on recipe cards she wrote for me.
All but my f is working perfectly. Both my upper and lowercase "f" has an awkward space. I've adjusted them, made sure they're in the middle, and nothing is helping :/
Awww noo 😢 I hate it when that happens. It’s a shame the software won’t let you do kerning of individual letter pairs. The best bet is to slightly change the shape of your letter, e.g. with the f make it slightly more condensed and then hopefully the spacing will fix itself. Keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤞🏼
Hello Karin - another very interesting video you made!!! I will create today my font!!! I just watched a lot of your videos - I love each of them!! May I ask some absolutely other question - I am always wondering where you are from - it is a very interesting accent you have :-) I just thought about some German accent - but it is not - I am Swiss - and the Swiss or German accent is different - do you mind the give me a hint where this is from?
Thank you so much for your kind comment! Haha a lot of people ask about my accent 😅 I’ve lived in New Zealand for 20 years, but I grew up speaking Schwiizerdütsch 😆 So yep - I’m Swiss too 😄🤗 Here’s a bit more about me in case you haven’t seen this video yet: ua-cam.com/video/bOWV1OPF00o/v-deo.html

Yes you can also use the Fontself app for this! Check out my tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/4imb6CuEuSo/v-deo.html

Yes you can!

@@iPadLettering i was not complaining. This is a good tool for my students when they want to make their own hand writing font!
Hey y’all, I was wondering is there any way I can access this font in any other than procreate, like text messages or something?
With Fontself (desktop app) you can also create color and textured fonts.
Yep - or with the Glyphs app 😄 But I wanted to make my font entirely on the iPad!
Amazingggg
Is procreate a paid app?
Thank you! Yes Procreate is a paid app, but it’s not too expensive and you won’t regret getting it 😊🤗
any chance you would share your font with us?
Do I own font that I created in caligraphr or does caligraphr get the rights to it ?
how to do it on android
I am guessing these are for personal use-correct? If we had the commercial rights to the procreate brush- we could sell commercially?
