Now see, THIS is what I call a "starter" house. I see so many videos going "simple starter house!" and it's like a lakeside terraced MANOR that I'd kill for in real life, built on a fifteen minute timelapsed video using 40 different materials and such. THIS qualifies as a "starter."

LOL that house is what i build when I FIRST started to l play minecraft. So build better houses and I rate it a 1 and a half out of TEN. Do you know builders like to add shape to their builds so it do not look like a BOX. The house is way to small you need a 4 by 4 at least and 3 high to maks it look good INSIDE. If you do not kbow bow to build go have a look PRO builders. I DO NOT THINK IT TOOK YOU MONTHS TO COME UP WITH THAT HOUSE. YOU JUST SAID THAT SO YOU CAN GET MORE VIEWS. From build better

@@mouse9283 Dude it’s just a simple house that’s easy to build for your first few days in Minecraft. You don’t typically start out with having 15 chests worth of stuff once you spawn in, so to me, the size makes sense. And he wasn’t upholding it like it was the gift of Jesus.
I honestly do think that this could be cool to have irl. Though Minecraft vanilla has never been the most realistic of games, it’s still a way for people to come up with builds. Whether for the world of Minecraft, or the world that we all live in outside the computer, console, or phones.
And lets see you do better. You claim that this house is a 1/10, but can you do better than this?? I would genuinely like to know. And if you can, then I will edit this comment to add a sincere apology, because then I will be proven wrong.

A few suggestions to free up more interior space:
    1. After placing the bed, break out the blocks under it and place the chest there. Use Cobblestone Stairs next to the bed to allow access to the chest.
    2. Place the Furnace and Crafting Table in the floor. This opens up much more room, though does admittedly make things a little more awkward to work with.

I generally create an underground house and a ladder leads you to the ground where the door is located under a "door like" foundation. You can create as much room as you want by just burrowing into the ground. It looks neat and it's also easy to find materials like this.

Me and my brother started a new Minecraft world and I used the original simple house build, then I was able to make it into a two story house with a work station on the left of the house and I also build a farm, tree farm, animal farm, mine, water source. That house really was a great starter house. We also spawn near a village, so my brother decided to claim and extend a villager house. Then he regretted his decision when he saw how good my house was, and all of that was just under 2 days! Also I’m thinking about making a basement, so let’s see how that goes.

I think the materials are easier on the first house, and I’m on bedrock, so days are shorter and I can get walls up in the first day. One thing the extra space doesn’t account for is that in the early game, you are mostly exploring, caving, making farms, basically that grind toward the dragon, and in the endgame, you make lots of projects, and material collecting, so back to caving, not to mention the fact that you will have a bigger house by then. I love these videos, and even after 2 years, I am still using the first house.

A more efficient ratio for charcoal:
    - Gather four logs and turn one into planks
    - Use two planks to cook three logs into charcoal
Result: Two spare planks left over and three charcoal
Slightly less efficient, but more charcoal:
    - Gather ten logs and turn one into planks
    - Use one plank to cook one log into charcoal
    - Use the resulting charcoal to cook the leftover eight logs into charcoal
Result: Three leftover planks and eight charcoal

It's important to put slabs on your roof if it's made of wood, because when you're in the plains biome and thunderstorms are often, you'll want to slabs (I'd use cobblestone) to block out the damage and fire caused by the lightning bolt (believe it or not, this happened to me.)

You have a very chill vibe, your explanations are crystal clear and your videos are straight to the point (which is something quite unusual on minecraft communities). I love it!!! Yesterday I watched the smooth stone slabs house build and today I'm watching this one. It looks so modern, simple and yet nice and cosy. Keep up the great work!!! Btw, how do you get inspiration for minecraft house builds?
P.S.: You remind me of Dave2D which also has a chiller and straight to the point aproach to tech videos vs other more sensationalist youtubers like Austin Evans and Unbox Therapy

You can also improve the time of recourse gathering by making the floor of cobblestone slabs.

I would like to suggest a cottage house that is still pretty compact but more « nordic » style, im planning on doing tons of them in my village where there are blank spots between my big houses.
