- In July 1976, the legendary Neil Diamond graced the Aladdin Theatre stage in Las Vegas, setting the desert city ablaze with his charismatic presence and timeless tunes. This historic performance marked a significant moment in the music icon's career, as he showcased his enduring talent and undeniable charm.
The performance featured an array of classics that have become synonymous with Neil Diamond's name. Songs like "Play Me," ""Holly Holy, "Longfellow Serenade", "Morningside", Solitary Man," and "Cherry, Cherry" had the crowd on their feet, singing along to every word. The timeless anthem "Sweet Caroline" filled the theater with an electrifying energy that only Neil Diamond can deliver.
In addition to his classic hits, Neil Diamond treated the Las Vegas audience to some tracks from his album "Beautiful Noise," which had been released prior to his appearance in the city. The renditions of "Beautiful Noise" and "If You Know What I Mean" were met with enthusiasm from the crowd, showcasing Neil's enduring ability to captivate his audience with both his timeless classics and newer material. These songs added a fresh and exciting dimension to the concert, further demonstrating Neil Diamond's musical prowess and his knack for creating memorable moments on stage.
One cannot discuss Neil Diamond without mentioning his iconic stage attire. Throughout the show, Diamond donned a resplendent gold jumpsuit that radiated the extravagance and showmanship of Las Vegas. It was a sartorial choice that perfectly complemented the glitz and glamour of the city's entertainment scene.
As the concert progressed, Neil Diamond made a striking transformation. He switched into a pristine white ensemble for the memorable segment dedicated to his album "Jonathan Livingston Seagull." This shift in attire added a symbolic touch to the performance, signifying a departure from his earlier hits to explore a more reflective and spiritual dimension of his music.
Towards the end of the show, Neil once again changed into a sleek black outfit for renditions of ";Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show"; and "I've Been This Way Before."; This final encore was a testament to Diamond's versatility as an artist, effortlessly transitioning between the exuberance of his hits and the emotional depth of his ballads.
However, despite the star-studded performance, the concert received mixed reviews from critics. Some pointed out that Neil Diamond leaned heavily on his classic repertoire, a tendency that would become more pronounced in his later career. Additionally, the available video clips from the show suffer from poor recording quality, leaving much to be desired in terms of visual and audio fidelity.
Yet, for many lucky concertgoers, this performance was not just about the music or the reviews; it was a chance to relive a piece of their own history. As one fan poignantly stated, "I was given the opportunity to retrace my steps back to 1976 along with Neil and re-live that time of youth and innocence."; Neil Diamond's music has always possessed the remarkable ability to transport listeners to different moments in their lives, and this Las Vegas concert was no exception.
In conclusion, Neil Diamond's 1976 concert in Las Vegas was a memorable event in the singer's storied career. It showcased his enduring talent, stage presence, and ability to connect with audiences. Despite the mixed reviews and the limitations of available recordings, it remains a cherished memory. Neil Diamond's music continues to transcend generations, reminding us all of the timeless power of song and the magic of live performances.

🎼🎶🦋 I was at the July 3rd performance at the Aladdin...(1976)A long story it was to get there from Jekyll Island, GA (USA), but, I was in heaven for 3 days in Las Vegas. There is no one on Earth quite like Neil Diamond. ❤❤
I saw Neil Diamond when I was 15 in 1976. I was crazy about him, so my friends decided they would go to see him with me. I was a year younger than them and couldn't drive, even though we were in the same grade. He was great! He said that he would like everyone to take pictures during one song only, then put cameras away. Then, my friend was walking back & saw he could get a great shot. Neil looked at him & when he put the camera up, Neil glared at him, I don't blame him. I then went on to see him 4 more times! The last one (his America tour)I was 7 months pregnant, and after that, I couldn't afford to go, with raising the kids, etc. Wonderful memories. It's so sad that he's so sick now, but touring for 50 years is enough for anyone. God bless Neil Diamond. Imagine him when he gets to heaven. He'll be singing with choirs of angels.
What a wonderful performer Neil 😊
Absolutely mind blowing. And the Jonathan Livingston Seagull section! Amazing and rare.
How often do we find “perfection “. Just listen to Neil Diamond on the stage and you have found it. Such a superb writer, poet and singer who enhances our lives. There will never be another Neil.❤❤

I was 24 when I saw him play this show! So beautiful! I may have gone to the July 4th show! I'm old now...lol memory is short. Does anyone remember how much it was? I was in the 4th row.
Mr Diamond can wear whatever he wants and will always look GREAT he WAS IS and will always be the best I love him anyway.
My friend was on the construction crew building the Aladdin Theater for Performing Arts. Neil practiced every afternoon for two hours. The construction crews were invited to sit down and watch, or exit to the casino while still on the clock. I was there the following week to see Chicago for two nights in a row. I finally got to see Neil twice in San Francisco at the Cow Palace. 😁🎸
He an amazing singer and, nobody will be ever like him…❤❤❤
I went the second night of his shows there. My mom worked at the Aladdin at that time and she got some free tix. She wasn't too interested in going so she gave me one. One of the greatest concerts of my teenage years.

I first heard Neil’s music in college…great to dance to!!! It’s amazing that he wrote the lyrics and music to all of his songs. Incredible talent! His music always makes me so happy! Great talent! Never heard a song of his I didn’t really love. Also old enough to remember that’s how people dressed and performers added glitz. His longevity is amazing.

Did we ever find out who the lady was that came down the aisle that Neil Diamond quickly gave her a job to do. Beautifully handled? And what did she do out of camera shot to provoke the smile on Diamonds face then?
I hope there's a better video quality someday
Is this concert for sale on DVD ???
thx
✌🤗🤗🤗⚘ĎAKUJEM Mária
How and where did you find this video?
Auf You tube.Danke für's hochladen.

Horrible picture…great show
Neil always had trouble with Shilo. Remembering lyrics and sequence.
Im glad she didnt bum rush Neil on stage 😂
There were at least two additional musicians on keyboards that night (closeups during Solitary Man at about 11:48). I wonder who they were?!
. . . That is very easy to answer : Alan Lindgren and Thomas Hensley . Alan was an integral musician-arranger and composer (‘ Hello Again’ with Neil, amongst other credit’s) he joined Neil in 1971 and retired in 2015.
Thomas Hensley joined Neil in the studio in 1973&’74 for ‘Jonathan Livingston Seagull’ and then the ‘Serenade’ album. He stayed with …
‘ The Neil Diamond Band ‘ until Neil’s forced retirement in early 2018.
Neil must have been an absolutely first-class colleague … because hardly anyone ever left his employ.
He stated that his view was alway’s that … “ No-one work’s for me - they work with me “.
True what you say. But the musician/keyboard players I’m referring to are both black

Does Neil lose his place with the lyrics at 24:08?
No, it's the video quality!!.
This is Neil Diamond and not Elvis Presley. Just be yourself.❤The outfit looks tight and Neil likes to dance.😂😂
He’s a great dancer because he did fencing in high school and college. My husband did fencing as well and was the best dancer l ever danced with. Other women were always trying to cut in to dance with him.
Those costumes were redicolous. Why the Elvis suits?
If you going to criticise learn how to spell
@@TheSkirvo That’s all you’ve got?
Fand ich auch lächerlich! 👎👎
Mainly due to the times and the location. Those times in Vegas was known for this type of theater and dress. He wasn't inventing the wheel here just following a pattern.
