Best 25min ramble I’ve heard in ages Rob. Like you, when carrol was sacked I was so pleased JS had the balls and done something which should have been done a few yrs ago. Not surprise at all that with better coaches, most of players have been able to show thier true light and justify thier draft pick, trade etc etc. I’m thinking 11-6 this year, Seattle’s D is going to surprise a few people, get Seahawks into the playoffs and have us thinking in 2025 that this team has a decent chance of doing something. Looking forward to seeing Robbie, Adam once again for such insightful and honest chat. As ever love the contact, the opinion, bring it on!
I don't care if they go 5-12, as long as they look like they want to be on the field, and the young guys make big strides. I wanna see energetic, disciplined football. The wins will come.
Agree with the coaching changes and love that Mcdonald chose his staff by who he thought would fit his culture and who would be able to improve the players. Listening to them saying they want to maximise each players talent by scheming for them, rather than trying to make players fit the scheme is music to my ears! As a fellow Brit and Hammer fan, intrigued to see how AD plays out as the DC. I'm liking what I've seen so far and will be rooting for him.
He’s back! Good to hear some excitement in your voice about this team. Rob is the one Seahawk pundit who has been right about mostly everything the last 10 years. This defense will be the single most improved unit in the league this year.
Fantastic video! I 100% agree I still have a sense of relief we moved on and have a brand new coaching staff. I haven’t been this excited for an opening game in years. Lots of young players who can become elite under a fresh new perspective from Mike McDonald.
Rob, thank Christ you’re back! The voice of reason and intelligence returns to the Seahawks scene! Glad you had a good trip with the fam, welcome back fella
It's s a good trade for both teams. Barret is smallish but he's a high energy guy who knows the system. And that makes him more valuable to us than to other teams.
So glad they finally realized pete was never going to do anything again here. One wildcard playoff win in 7 years is proof of that. Who the hell cares about in season wins? It's all about the postseason. This fan base lowered its standards way too much for this guy.
So glad to get another video, hope you and yours enjoyed Alaska! Total agreement with the relief of moving on from Carroll, and the luxury of being hopeful about the direction of the team. The depth on the Oline is probably a bigger fear for me personally, but don’t have much special team value. Every time I notice Forsyth it’s for all the wrong reasons and if Lucas isn’t available hate a scenario where we are one Fant injury away from seeing him in meaningful play.
On your thought about the shift in strategy while signing linebackers, I think this season is more of a test run where everybody in the room is relatively small, has high agility and grades well against the run. It seems to be testing out the archetype Macdonald wants at a cheap cost before committing more in the next free agency period or draft.
I dont mind going under the radar Rob this year, I still expect us to be competitive in every game and 10 wins is not out of the question. What that gets us regarding p/off etc we wont know until Dec/Jan, I think at least we are all looking forward to a new era ( not the hats!). It would be nice to do some real damage in the division regarding Rams and 49ers and take it from there....I still think until we get the QB sorted we will be a bit up in the air....
As someone that desperately wanted change at HC I couldn't agree with you more that the future is bright and have been SO excited ever since hiring Mike macdonald as i felt if the new HC would have been anyone other than Mike Macdonald it would have been a HUGE dissapointment and a further step back. With Mike as our HC this team is going to be great again in the near future and Jody Allen can't be praised enough for being willing to move off Pete early and then being willing to do whatever it took to get Mike
For our projected win projection I think the casual fan and people outside of Seattle see an idealized Pete Carrol system. This version to the outside viewer he is a hall of fame coach who is a defensive genius who is always having winning seasons. While in reality our defensive schemes were flat out bad in the last few years and Pete was no longer a good defensive coach anymore. But now we will actually have a great one and that will change our talent deep defense night and day
Love your content Rob! Have you considered doing a live conversation with Matty F. Brown? As an American, it would just be so interesting to see two Seahawk fan Brits discussing the team! Plus Matty absolutely knows his stuff!
Great content Rob, as always. I'm looking forward to reading your impressions about the QBs in the next draft, let's hope that some of them can improve (Conner Weigman, Allar, Ewers, etc.), I have the impression that this will be the year in which we select a QB
By the way, anyone who thinks that Geno is the future is like thinking that Pete could improve this team (we all know he wasn't going to), let's not be stuck in the past anymore
@@GFGB-bt8ps he's not the future, but he is the present. And presently, he can win you a lot of games because he's finally got the coaches that are the future of the league supporting him.

@@bretkester8316 fair points. I'm definitely going off vibes. But if Kyle Shanahan had Jimmy G and Brock Purdy at the precipice of winning a super bowl, and if MacDonald's staff what I think they are, Geno can absolutely win you a super bowl.
@@tjdeuceosix well Shanahan and 7 All-Pro’s. Which include the best rb and offensive lineman in football. And a bunch of defensive players that panned out as fantastic picks. Geno hasn’t shown to be good enough and we are in Year One in what might be the toughest division in the sport again.
11-6 or 12-5 that's what I am thinking. Super excited for this season. Coach Mike Macdonald guiding the defense and Coach Ryan Grub guiding the offense. The change the Seahawks needed. Either way this season goes super excited. Go Hawks 🏈 💙 💚
I can see 10. Maybe 11. 12 wins is very hard to get to. Every team last year with 12+ wins had 3+ returning offensive linemen with 2 pro bowlers as a minimum. We have zero with this system.
100% with you on Pete, I wanted him to be fired since that playoff loss to the Cowboys when he refused to adjust his game plan even when it was clear it wouldn't work. Do you think Murphy would be on this team if Pete were still the coach?
Probably -- but knowing Pete he'd play a small percentage of snaps and then he'd say in his end of season press conference something like 'we should've given him more snaps'
Rob love the honest and true evaluation of the players you talk about in each draft. What’s your take on malaki starks from Georgia? Very intriguing player from his film. Could look really good in McDonald’s system. @robstatonfootball
@@AnthonyParziale24 Yes -- I think he can play any role on the back end, like his range and ability to get around the ball. Someone who could go top-20 based on 2023 tape
I say"Good iRiddance" to Pete Carroll from the Seahawks. The past few years his defense was pathetic. There waa a lack of discipline in and out of the locker room. He enabled Yikes to be a POS. They Seahawks should have cleaned house right after the Russell Wilson trade by firing Pete and JS to start over again. I also wish they could fire the Vulcans and Paul Allen's Trust.Hell, even the guy scrubbing the urinals in the stadium probably needs to go😂
I've thought about betting the over. The valid reason not to bet the over for wins this year is that you're one Geno injury from relying on Sam Howell to get you there.
