Saw them first touring with Dio just before release of Warning, then on RFO tour, Empire, and Tribe tour with Dream Theater, ironically one of the last decent QR albums ( thank you, Chris DeGarmo), then again for mindcrime 25th, after that, it was Tate’s horrible QR cover band- Kelly Gray should never be allowed to play DeGarmo’s songs…. You could say I’m a pretty big QR fan. Tate is the reason i became a singer.
He's improved over the last few years and found a key and register where he can survive....he's not ever going to be near where he once was though.....however he has direction now and making music that matches his voice....its good and that's all that matters! I've been a fan since 1983 and will always be a fan!
He sounds much better than he did a few years ago, & he actually hit most of the high notes on the Rage/Empire tour. The only singer that sounds just as good as he did when he was young is Tony Bennett. People that say Todd is a better singer than Geoff are full of crap! Todd is much younger & is great at Queensryche karaoke, but a young & middle-aged Geoff would mop the floor with Todd!
@@toddlesiak3837 I don't think your being truthful with yourself in the least. I'm an Avid Queensryche fan and have seen Geoff Tate in 1985-1995 at various concerts. I can unequivocally tell you that he doesn't sing today like he did back through the 80's to mid 90's and I'm going to put all of his high notes aside....he's not hitting the same notes....he's improved his pitch and singing it in key and has improved his new consistent tone...but I can assure you he doesn't sing today better than he's ever had...And I love what he's doing now and even the stuff he's done with Sweet Oblivion. It's fortunate that he's still around for our listening pleasure.....peace!
@@omniken66 Of course, he can't sing exactly like he did from the era of "The Warning' to "Empire." You didn't exactly get what I meant. I think he's been really good on the Rage/Empire tour, & whatever he has done, he sounds much better now than he has in the last 20 years. Can he still hit the highest notes on songs like "Take hold of the flame" or "The lady wore black?" No way, but he is sounding really good again these days, & he's also now hitting higher notes than I've expected him to hit. You're also right about how his pitch & overall sound has improved. It will soon be time for Todd to get old & for his voice to slowly decline. The last time I saw Queensryche in concert, I could tell that Todd was actually having a bit of trouble with his pitch, struggled a bit when trying to hit some high notes, & was also going out of key from time to time. Todd is not quite as good as he was ten years ago. When it comes to singing... age is really no one's friend
@God You can disagree but your not right! His voice isn't matured.....he's simply singing the songs in an area in which he can survive. he's lost a lot of his range and intonation!
