I've got a more tan suede seat on my roping saddle. Would it be silly to pick a green dye and use it on the suede? It's a budget saddle so no huge loss if it comes out ugly and I'll ride the tree right out of it but just wondering how it works or if it does!
Thanks so much! I love it :) It is a Lite Western Pleasure Trail Silver Showman Show Saddle 16" Round skirt FULL QH. I purchased it on ebay and paid $500 total. I got it from this seller: www.ebay.com/itm/Lite-Western-Pleasure-Trail-Silver-Showman-Show-Saddle-16-Round-skirt-FULL-QH-/322208542652?hash=item4b05202fbc:g:UbIAAOSwpDdVDF6A
The leather is not Full Grain but Buffed ..So the oil doesnt changes the color permamnently....I will suggest using feebing's resoline with water and applying a layer after oiling so that the color stays put. You may use a little bit of feebings alcohol based die and oil together but that will make the color of threads also a little more darker
Yes, the results are permanent. I have been using it all year and I never once had it rub off on my jeans while riding. I have also cleaned it multiple times and the color has never come off. If you want it to be darker I would recommend doing it over a few days. Do one coat, let it dry, next day do another coat so that it has time to soak in.

Do you know how to do the opposite???I just want the saddle to look new because it is dark. Can I just sand it??
Does this work on rough out leather? I have some fenders I want to darken but I’m worried about damaging the leather?
What brand is your saddle it's lovely!

Are the results permanent? Or does the saddle go back to its original color over time? Does any oil residue rub off on your jeans when you ride?

Thanks!
Did it stain the silver as well or was the silver okay?
The silver stayed just fine :)
