  • ► Part 2 of our Learn in Under a Minute Series: Single-Ply Membranes
Single-Ply Membranes are sheets of rubber and other synthetics that can come in rolls and are cut and adhered to your facility roof on top of the insulation. There are two main types of single-ply membrane commercial roofing: Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) and Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM). They differ in their chemical makeup, how they are installed and their energy efficiencies.
There are three ways to attach the single-ply membrane to the cover board: ballasted with rocks or stones, adhesion with a rolled on adhesive or mechanically fastened with equipment.
