I installed epic, and I hard a really hard time using it. Indesktop mode, I could not type. In "game mode" I could login, but the system kept resetting and none of the games would load up.
Try using it in gaming mode, I had luck through there. Once you launch you can remap the buttons to make them work and use the on screen keyboard through the steam shortcut
How do you change the install directory with an EPIC game on the Heroic launcher to an SD card? When I click on the "browse" button to change the install directory I get what looks like a file menu from Windows 3.1, which is incredibly tiny and I have no idea where to go to install it.

Deck seems more polished with sleep etc, but the ally seems more powerful, for e.g. witcher 3 / gta 6 in the future...
My recommendation is if you want a portable gaming pc the deck is better. If you want a really good docked/hooked up experience, the legion go would be my pick. But the deck definitely behaves more like a console than the ally or legion go.
@@hartomethod hm ok, thats interesting. Typically sleep on windows is very unreliable, at least on the laptops I had. But maybe the ally is somewhat standardized and therefore they got it reliable. Battery life is probably not as good on the ally no? I think the steamdeck only loses 10% or so per day in sleep.
@@whiskytangofoxtrot_ yes, from what I found the deck is much more polished. But the horsepower of the ally is tempting as well... Also personally I think the deck looks nicer / less loud, and also seems more ergonomic. Although that is all very subjective.

Did you turn on cloud saves for both devices? Epic launcher is only on desktop mode but the other launchers you download should show up in game mode. Controller mapping is tied to each launcher

I actually haven’t made a tutorial of that but I used cemu (included in emudeck). From there just UA-cam a tutorial on cemu for steam deck and you should be golden!

Tried that solution and having different control settings and tweaking power settings each time I play a different game does not work for me. For Epic and GOG I use Heroic. Cloud saves works - game needs to start and set its saves folder, it is currently being automatically handled by the Launcher. I played and finished Guardians of the Galaxy that were free recently using cloud saves between SD and my PC without any issues. Cyberpunk saves are also working automatically and flawlessly. For EA and Ubi launchers I use Lutris - it is messier and less elegant, but it gives some easiness to the install process of both. Lutris gives also an option to add individual games to Steam Library, just as Heroic does. No issues with cloud sync as well due to the how the games are handled by the app. And for "special ops" there is Bottles. I installed through it Red Dead Redemption 2 from Epic which gave me issues when using launchers mentioned above - most likely rockstar launcher and epic could not communicate the license properly. With bottles it works flawlessly. And it is easy to add any missing windows dependencies there. The best part is, anybody can make their set up as it fits themselves. To each its own :)

I put the exe onto my desktop. I haven’t looked but I’m assuming that the launchers install on the deck itself (opposed to sd card). Try doing a search in the file explorer for key words. Guessing here, but maybe try deleting all files regarding the launchers from the file explorer and see if reinstalling after that helps?
I don’t think so. You can add the launchers but the games themselves are stored in the launchers. Heroic allows you add the games to steam library but doesn’t have cloud saves
Yes you can. Just find the game’s .exe file right click on it and “add to Steam”. I also suggest changing the install games location on the launchers for quicker access.
Some launchers don’t work in full screen but once you launch it, it’s in full screen (based on resolution you set). Not sure if you can change resolution of launcher

if it is stuck on the installing and updating proton bit, have u tried downloading proton qt and then retrying the install? i had the same issue and that's what worked for me
I'm also running gog through nonsteam launchers, matter is I have a fps drop on cyberpunk every 10 secs that makes playing a pain. Read it's related to gog on steam deck, so i got to try heroic if it can avoid that.
Gamepass won't work. You CAN stream Gamepass games using Edge browser, but you can't install any games. It's a UWP app, which does not work outside of Windows.
I figured it out. There are only certain games that support cloud saves from PC to SteamDeck. To check- in filter mode in your library - click cloud saves to see which games will work@@hartomethod
Yes, you have to change it every time. Mapping from within the game doesn't do much, since the controls are mapped beforehand to give you movement on Epic itself. That's why Hero Luncher is better if you absolutely don't need to save to the cloud.
Anti-cheat prevents it from working, and the developers said they're not interested in fixing it for Steam Deck unless there are "tens of millions" of Steam Deck players. Their words. SMH

There is no performance difference. Some games may be finicky and require a launch through desktop to work but those games are usually patched.

Sleep mode worked for me. It treats it just like any other game

Gog is super inconsistent with cloud saves on PC also. I suppose it's the price you have to pay for pure ownership
