It's called a Nexus or situs. Running a licensed business creates a responsibility to a municipality. If they have no ownership or interest in your property they lack jurisdiction. Territorial jurisdiction doesn't cover private property not used in commerce.

The only people who have issues with code enforcement are business/home owners who cut corners. People complain when they get cited then complain when someone gets hurt when violations exist, u can't win. U guys save lives bottom line.

They are there to extort money. Bogus neighbor complains cause these people to find ways at all cost to violate you and charge you massive fees and or fines. Something so minor on their decision as to that chair is an indoor chair, fine. Crazy how unknowing people are. Then they wonder why it's ok to get all info, bully neighbors can have these people attack you just to issue problems for the other person. They will even violate your rights to obtain evidence.

They do 💩 like charging people $250/day fines for having a Car that won't start - EVEN if the car is in the process of being restored - in THEIR OWN driveway. JUST ridiculous!!

Why if you have one weed in your yard that's 4" you give a ticket and why are you and that lady out Measuring people's yard to be petty. But you the city can have parks and city properties grass 8-10" tall the government is not above the law or the City ordinance So I say that the city parks or property have grass that is too high. They should have to pay a fine to the residents.

The pick and choose enforcement, if your a athority figure or the family of a athority figure it doesn't apply.
There just like law enforcement they tell you everything you want to hear and do the opposite
And we don't have to tell you anything we do in our home, it's none of your business

Couple things, cide enforcement has zero authortity to issue citations. Also they have zero authority to enforce any ordinances or anything else on private property. Codes only apply to property used in commerce or government managed property. If a code officer is messing with you, sue him, the city manager and the city.

@@charlies.5777if you're gonna live near other people, you have to do your part to keep your community safe and clean. If you don't have anything to hide, then you should have no problem with workers getting paid to make sure communities are safe.

@@florascent9ts "if you don't have anything to hide " 😅 you clearly don't understand how subjective that can be. And code changes from city to city, county to county.
City code enforcement in my current town has one giant power tripping fool they refuse to get rid of. He said I needed to clean up trash on my property, turned out, my upcycled planters were "trash" to him, my vegetable garden was GARBAGE and I couldn't have it anymore. He literally ripped my tomatoes out and threw them in the city can (which isn't for green yard waste and is actually a city violation 😂) He fined me 250$ for having a vegetable garden.
He also likes to stand outside the elementary school and yell at people violating traffic laws, which isn't his jurisdiction. I mean, screaming in people's faces and using his city issues truck to threaten to ram people's cars. He is constantly tripping.
I avoid him like the plague and refuse to fix up my property as he would be the one to come in and inspect it and he just loves to tell you one thing this day and fine your for doing just that the next. It's horrifically toxic and they have all the right to destroy people's lives for their own ego trip.
The code enforcement here are a menace.

@@GaffGiraffesue his ass. He has no authority to mess with you or your property unless your running a business out of your property. Code enforcement has zero authority to issue citations also.
