    Hey there! We were in Randle yesterday - had I known, it would have been nice to meet you. Of ALL the videos I've watched, I've appreciated your sharing of how-tos, patience, slowing down and such. I was out yesterday and did well with first time with matsutakes and it's all attributed to your sharing! I'm HOOKED on your videos.

    I found a few at elevation 1700 near mount Rainer. Do you think it is the end of the season at that elevation or just the beginning. Only found a few and not sure if it deserves a second visit next week. Thank you for your response.

      It's just starting. Around there grows later. Just like Packwood. Did you find buttons or flowered out ones?

    I pulled two matsutake flowers out of frozen ground yesterday. Can you talk a little bit about temperature? I was at 2k in GPNF yesterday and many boletes and chanterelles were frozen. The frozen boletes I only dry and make powder. The chanterelles seemed ok to after thaw out.

      Less frozen mushrooms under thick canopy forest. Even frozen mushrooms are still edible. Chantrelles can stand the cold better than some. Come down to a lover elevation to get more button. I'm at about 1000 ft only now. Hope that helps. 😃

      @@mushroomsforagingadventures Thanks, I appreciate the information. I was wondering because we are already getting freezing temperatures at less than 200' above sea level over on the eastern side of Port Angeles. I got out three weeks ago to hunt in the 2000' to 2600' level but didn't do worth a darn except for a couple nice cauliflowers.

      Use to be some good grounds in Belfair, Matlock, and Shelton for pine mushrooms. I haven't been in those areas for 3 decades. Might still be some ground left.

    For your own information. Harvesting mushrooms in Oregon requires a license...unless you only gather a Gallon or less/ day not applicable for Matsutaki. $2.00/day or $20/10 days or $100 for the year May through December ( $200/ year for pine mush...) and carry a map of the area you are harvesting...Life in a freedom state! Plus gas and effort one need to harvest a lot to make a living!
    The fine is $5000 or up 6 months in jail...Food for thoughts

    • @mushroomsforagingadventures
      @mushroomsforagingadventures  Рік тому +1

      Yes, that info is correct for Oregon in some of their National Forest. Make sure you check out the rules and regulations on harvesting in each different National Forest in Oregon. It can be different. Personal use is always free, but you're limited to a certain amount. You still need to get a permit. You can get that online.
      Personal use in Washington is free. You can obtain it online, too. Seasonal commercial permit in Washington State is $125. You're not limited to just pine. You can pick many varieties of mushrooms here. Just make sure you have either one. 😃
