Hunter Brookline Ceiling Fan (Modified)

Hunter Brookline 52" ceiling fan in antique brass. This is another fan I found in the trash during Cleanup Week 2023. It is in fact a normal Brookline, I just swapped in a spare switch housing/light fitter combo I had on hand. For one thing, I'm tired of all the bowl lights I've shown with Hunter lately, and I actually really like this style but feel the bowl detracts from a lot of the great detail. Secondly, the included finial for the bowl kit is absolute garbage and doesn't allow the fan chain to pull smoothly, which seemed to be a common and continuing complaint with this model based on a few reviews I happened to skim over. I didn't have the original bowl, but I did try to make one work. I probably could've found an alternate finial that would work better, but when it became clear that it was just going to be a pain, I decided to do what I truly wanted to, and swapped it out. I've been hoarding extras of these switch housing/light combos from rougher fans I've parted out for exactly these scenarios, or to have on hand if I want to add a light to something that doesn't have one. I also added the downrod, because of course it was flush mounted like the other 95% of Hunters I find that I actually want to make videos of. Everything else aside, it's your typical Hunter of the period. Runs well, mostly quiet, solid performance, but as mentioned I do like the styling. Kind of niche design elements, interesting that the model ran for a decent stretch of time with that considered. I also don't find much Hunter in antique brass, so that's kind of the reason I invested a little more care into this one than I probably would've otherwise.

I always will love the Brookline. My favorite restaurant had tons of fans in it, Regency MX Excels in brass, Quorum Q52s in green and brass, Monte Carlo Builder supremes in pewter and Hunter models including the Henly, Kingsbury and one singular brookline, it just did not have a light. It was my favorite fan in the place and we always sat by it. For that reason these always will be special to me. I never liked the bowl lights on them so this was a major upgrade. Hunters bowl light kits always give me issues. Great work as always!

I love this fan, and now that you said the flaws about bowl light kits, I'm not a big fan of them so much nowadays, at least the ones on pull chain fans.

I'm glad to see I'm not alone in my utter dislike for bowl lights. I think this looks 1000x better than the stock light kit

Occasionally I'll accept them, and usually if it's stock I'll show it, but after trying to get that finial to work I was so over it and I think these in particular should've had this light to begin with.

I like modifying ceiling fans (depending on the fan and the parts used) because it’s cool. That’s how I have a Harbor Breeze Designer (Grace Bay with the blades from a Barnstaple Bay)

My lake cottage has one of these in this exact finish and these exact blades! The bowl really is ugly.
