Also, I feel you with finding out the audio is off when you upload your video. It's the worst feeling! That happened to me in my last video and I had to add captions to the scene.
Let me tell you, I freaked out! At one point during filming, a piece of the mic fell and totally shattered too. I didn't realize it was already dying though so you can hear a weird clicking noise in a lot of the clips. :( I usually only do a "testing 1-2-3" to test the mic.
