RIP to your pops man as I can totally relate to what you went through and still going through. I lost my dad in 1994 when I was 11. Only difference is my dad wasn't a gamer himself but he would occasionally watch me play and would by me cartridges either on my birthday or Christmas time. My fondest memory of my dad was watching him play Outrun in the Arcade for the first time. We cracked up laughing because my dad was playing it like he was driving in real life all cautious and slow. So my brothers and I shouted "Dad! There's a timer! You have to get to the finish line or you will lose!" So he perked up, stomped on the gas and started flying and crashing lol. He was so genuinely happy and it feels good passing down old stories about him to my kids. 😇
@@MyRetroLife -- making these kind of lists is tough enough without having to relive tough memories, but I know there are plenty of happy ones that hopefully more than make up for it. We lost Dad back in '97; I was 20, but my brother was only 16. I still miss Dad, but I try to think about how we were lucky to have as much time with him as we did. Still, I feel for you and TDMShow...and anyone else who loses a loved one like that. Dad wasn't a huge gamer, but he did get us into gaming, with the Odyssey^2, then the Master System, then the Genesis -- I very much appreciate the SEGA love you show, not only in your top 10, but in many of your videos! Thanks go to you for the videos you make, and to your dad for getting all that excellent footage back in the day! Happy New Year!
I never had a dad. Video games are how I bond with my boys. Games help me when I'm feeling low. Can I get a Video on legend of Dragoon. I've beat it three times. Great game
I was born in ‘84 and your right. Gaming in the late eighties and into nineties was pure magic. I’m 38 now and still love gaming. I just got my 6 year old son his first Nintendo (switch) and I’ve been playing the crap out of the retro emulators. Love your channel dude. Likes and subbed forever
Same (born in 84)… though I have a different take. I think we had a unique experience of seeing video games go through their biggest metamorphosis to date. But when I really look at the state of gaming now, it’s just as incredible (if not more so). Plus, all those retro games are there along side everything made since the end of the 90s. Plus, the sheer amount of options in how we can play video games now is mind blowing. If you would have told my 10 year old self that I would one day have a handheld machine that played every game ever made between 1977 to 1999, I would have died on the spot. Don’t get me wrong, I have a lot of love for games of my childhood. They dramatically impacted my development. But so has movies and literature made long before I was born. And games like Braid and Outer Wilds are some of the most amazing experiences I’ve had in gaming and I was well into adulthood by the time those came out.
I feel y'all, born in 83 and it was magic all growing up. It definitely still is, I never could've imagined playing the first Zelda and virtual boy that as an adult I'd have a real VR headset and exploring Skyrim and No man's sky. And so many great RPG games now too. Still play all the old consoles often too it's really fun.
Born in 84 too. The late 80's & early 90's were truly a magical time to be alive and nothing will EVER be able to top the 8-16 bit generations imo. That big momentous generational leap in power no longer exists these days. The only thing that's blowing me away is VR, it's that next level. I'm biting my nails in anticipation for the upcoming Resident Evil 8 Village & Call of the Mountain this Feb for the PSVR2. :O
@@leeartlee915 I agree. Games like the last of us completely blew me away. Playing Cyberpunk on a 4090 makes me question reality lol I am also super stoked to replay TLOU part 1 on my PC. What a time to have lived. Seeing the birth of video games to where we are now is nuts, and to think, with a little luck we are only halfway through our lives. What will the future hold!?
I was mesmerized by Shenmue when it first came out. I loved the Dreamcast, and was so bummed when it was discontinued. Both myself and my best friend. He's unfortunately no longer with us. He was born with a heart condition, and wasn't expected to live 6 months. He wound up living up to be 32, before he finally succumbed, and we both were big gamers at the time. I think he loved Sega even more than me, and got to go to Japan, and bring home a bunch of imported games, which I'm happy to say are now a part of my collection, which he bequeathed to me. Also, Tyler, I lost my father very suddenly in 2006, just a year before you lost yours, so I know the pain all too well, along with the comfort that could be found in gaming. As a matter of fact, the first Christmas after I lost him, I was in Wal-Mart looking for a gift for my sister, when someone suddenly came out with a cart full of Wii consoles. This was back when the Wii was impossible to get, as you'll surely remember, so I went ahead and snatched one right there. It was a Christmas miracle, and it felt like, somehow, my Dad had arranged it all from somewhere. Speaking of Shenmue, have you ever played the Yakuza games? They feel almost feel like the evolution of the Shenmue formula.
Mega Man 2 is my all time favorite game as well. I'm 42 now and remember growing up in the 80s and 90s. Capcom games in general on the NES back then was nothing but spectacular. I love your videos and thank you for sharing these experiences from your past with home videos. It brings a joyful tear to my eye when watching because it brings back so many great memories for me.
Man... such props to your dad for cataloging your life like this. I didn't get my first camcorder till I was about 15 years old, and most of that stuff is just me goofing off with friends (which is still great to have thoough). But I don't know anyone our age who personally has so many moments captured like this while growing up. I wish I could look back at the days when I first got these consoles/games and relive those experiences in better detail than what my memory still has to offer. There's so many seemingly "regular ol' days" that just get lost forever when your long term memory just tosses them into the trash bin. With these videos that your Dad was thoughtful enough to capture, you'll always be able to go back and visit memories in a way. It's almost like he made you your own time machine. He must have loved you so much.
My favorite game of all time is Streets of Rage 2. I was born in 1990 so it had to have been like 94 that my Dad and I played SoR2, and really, the entire series together. My Dad is now 62 and doesn’t really game anymore but I still remember a time when he was genuinely interested in playing games and when he used to watch me play. He used to ask how far I’ve gotten and made sure when I played Sonic 2 to not miss a single ring because that ring could be the ring I need to stay alive. It’s memories like that, that I wouldn’t trade for anything. Thank you for sharing all these videos, with us being so close in age when I see these things I get choked up because it bring back memories of similar experiences. Best channel ever ❤
Thanks Tyler! Here’s a few of mine: 1. Mega Man 2 (Similar reasons to you. Played with my brothers when I was a young child) 2. Sonic 2 (1st games I played and beat without my brothers help) 3. Knights of the Old Republic (PC) (similar reasons to mass effect. Played during hard times in my 1st year of college) 4. Mario Odyssey (1st 3D Mario game I played) 5. Halo:Combat Evolved (PC) played huge LAN games with friends on the dorm network. The level of excitement and fun on that scale, with that many people I had never done before and still haven’t felt since. Loved the video! Keep ‘em coming!!!
Shenmue and Sonic CD! Shenmue was the "parents divorce" game for me. The game blew my mind when it came out and because of what was going on with my parents it was just a great escape for me when I was 10 years old.
Dude hearing about you and your dad playing games together is so heartwarming. I never knew my dad, and yours would be the one that I would've wanted. Awesome videos!
The way you talk about your dad, reminds me of the relationship I wish I had with mine. He passed in 2002. But my mom is who got me into video games. These videos really brings me nostalgia, and happiness. So thank you very much.
Tyler the love that was given to you by your family shows through in everything you do, all that you do is awesome.Thank you for sharing these moments of you and your families lives.
I have to agree that the water level on mario 64 brings a flood of awesome memories of that time. I also want to say that watching these videos remi ds me so much of my life growing up with video games. Keep them coming.
So many retro gaming UA-camrs talk about their childhood and nostalgia. But what makes yours so special is that you have it on camera and you can see all the emotions that came along with it
As someone named Alex, Lunar was such a special game to me, and with it also being my first JRPG, it was just, a magical experience that I'll never forget. Nor will I ever forget being 8 years old, never played a JRPG before in my life, and hearing Nall go, "Alex, oh Alex!", and being like, "Wait, Alex? That's my name!", an absolute masterpiece of a game, and a game from which innumerable memories were created.
Some on my list off the top of my head: - Final Fantasy 4, 6, 7, and 9 - Final Fantasy Tactics - Diablo 1 and 2 - Warcraft 2 and 3 - World of Warcraft - Starcraft 1 and 2 - Sim City 2000 - Contra 3: The Alien Wars (this was on your list) - Super Mario All Stars, specifically Super Mario 3 - Mega Man 3 - Super Castlevania 4 - Age of Empires 1 and 2 - Command and Conquer: Red Alert - The Bindings of Isaac
I wish I could shake your dad’s hand, he seems like a guy I’d really like to hang out with. I’m so happy you have this footage to share, what a gift to your family and the rest of us by default. You really bring him to life for us and it’s such an amazing experience, so thank you both.
I've been subscribed for a bit, but just wanted to say I love your channel. I was born in 83, and always felt like it was the last great age because we got to grow up with video games. As I aged, so did Nintendo, Sega, and Sony. It was an amazing time and I had many of the same memories as you did, just not on video. I honestly feel bad for my kids today ( I have 3). Games aren't the same anymore, movies are complete garbage, there's no good Saturday morning cartoons, etc. My oldest son who's 6 loves playing the old Mario games though. I'm trying my best to show him how great the older stuff was. Keep up the good work!
I think your dad would have loved Mass effect, and Dead rising and all of these other great games that came out on future consoles. My dad has been diagnosed with cancer fairly recently and me and you are the same age, I don't know how you went through what you did at that age because even now in my thirties I think I'll feel lost once my dad passes away. You are stronger than you know, thank you for sharing these videos. I'm not only a subscriber but a real fan and often go back to the ones I enjoy most for a pick me up.
I'm really surprised by how many non Nintendo games made it onto your list. Can you please do a ranking of your favorite systems? That would be really cool to hear!
I am stoked to find that mega man 2 is actually on the NES Classic Edition mini console that I happen to own and just haven't fully explored yet. I didn't know I owned that game!!! I'm excited to play it with some of the appreciation that you shared for it in my corner. Thank you so much for sharing your top ten! Super Mario 64 is one of my top games of all time too.
Did you mod your NES classic? You can add games to it if you do 😊 I modded mine, and I added some SNES games, GB, GBC, GBA, Sega Genesis.. I love it. My cousin got it for me on my birthday the year it came out. I was shocked that he found one, and decided to gift it to me. A longish time after that, I found out, I could mod it, to add even more games. So of course I added all my favourites, + the ones I missed out on growing up, like Chrono Trigger, and other bangers. Good times man.. 😊
I love this channel. Some of my all time favorites. EverQuest (PC) Duck Tales (NES) Tech Romancer (Dreamcast) Bass Landing (PS1) Champions of Norrath (PS2) Zelda (NES) Shenmue (Dreamcast) Sword of the Beserk (Dreamcast) Eternal Darkness (Gamecube) Metal Gear (NES)
Thank you. I love you, your videos and being able to get glimpses into your early life....which absolutely allows me to access memories I've forgotten or overlooked. There are those here on YT that bring that nostalgic magic...and you ,Sir,...are one of those rare magicians that bring that TRUE magic. I appreciate that more than you will ever know and/or perhaps understand. Much love and respect.
Dude. This was an amazing video. I really appreciated the personal touch, the footage as a kid, your demeanor, everything felt very personal and genuine. Your parents did a good job. I absolutely subscribed and thank you for sharing this video with us.
Sonic CD is also in my top 10, I'm also nostalgic about it. My uncle was always up on the latest games and coming to play this one with the CD quality music and effects, the time travel, it was so immersive for me ❤😊
Beautiful video. Born in ‘82 here. The peaks for me seemed to align with Christmas time. Peak #1 NES with excite bike, and TLOZ. Peak #2 SNES with Super Mario World, Final Fantasy II and Secret of Mana. Peak #3 PlayStation with Battle Arena Toshinden , TOBAL, and Twisted Metal 2. Peak #4 Nintendo 64 and Mario 64.
Awesome video man!! You definitely had some great parents! I actually found out 3 days ago that my wife and I will be having our first child.. I can see the joy you and your father shared and I hope so bad I can give those same amazing memories to my kid
BRILLIANT list. I could never come up with a top 10 list. Being 60 years old, I go back to the era of Pong (my first “console”) and the Atari 2600, and have owned so many consoles since then, and have played so many games, it would be tough to come up with a list of 10 games. You did an amazing job. All I could say is that Doom, and Resident Evil 1 are definitely at the top of my list, along with EA’s NHL series (probably their 1st NHL game, because it was so amazing). I might be able to come up with favorite game per console. Shenmue is definitely the first game I think of when I think of the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast is definitely in my top 5 favorite consoles of all time.
I have only seen a few of this guy videos. I just found this channel yesterday but I have seen enough to know that it’s heart breaking and he was close with his Dad and loved games. I am glad his dad lived to witness the Xbox 360 era which is pretty much the peak of console gaming.
Awesome video! You are one of the few True retro gaming channels on UA-cam. No dollar signs in the thumbnail, no click bait titles about deals of a lifetime, no bragging about the total profits etc just straight up retro gaming and I love that. I never want to replace my childhood memories and nostalgia with money. Those things are priceless. Keep up the great content Tyler!
YES. So happy to see PSO on your list. Its one of my favorite games ever too. It was a way for me and my older brother to bond and hang out when we were younger. So many fun days and nights playing together and leveling up. We didn’t have online but we didn’t care, we just loved it
Loving this unique list 👍 Isn't it amazing how these experiential high points in gaming float like mountain peaks when we look back through those formative years. Thanks for sharing buddy 😁
I'm so Frickin happy I found your channel from videos with you and your dad and then the videos with your family its just so comforting to watch and a look into the past for gaming. ❤ I hope you blow up even more. ❤ I've been recommending your channel to everyone
My condolences, my father passed back in 1996. I was 16 at the time. Video games have been a part of my life in some form since my Dad bought me the Atari 2600 in the early 80’s. Thanks for your great content on your channel!
I love how every game on this list has a specific time period and memory attached to it, this is how a top 10 should be. I love hearing all these stories and can relate heavily to how each one of these games defined a part of your childhood. Also PSO is so underrated and should be on more top 10's. Thank you for always sharing your stories 🙏
IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER. MARIO KART (SNES), TURTLE TOURNAMENT FIGHTERS (SNES), ZELDA LINK TO THE PAST (SNES), METAL GEAR SOLID (PS1), BATMAN (NES), METAL SLUG X (PS1), TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES (NES), STREET FIGHTER 2 TURBO (SNES), CONTRA ALIEN WARS (SNES) STREETS OF RAGE (MEGADRIVE). LOVE YOUR CHANNEL DUDE, YOU WERE SO LUCKY AS A CHILD, I GREW UP WITH A SPECTRUM THEN A MASTER SYSTEM 2, MEGADRIVE, SNES THEN AMIGA THEN ONTO THE PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4 BUT THROUGHOUT ALL OF IT I ALWAYS WENT BACK TO MY RETRO GAMES THRU EMULATION. I JUST WISH I HAD VIDEO FOOTAGE OF IT ALL LIKE YOUR DAD DID FOR YOU. AWESOME VIDEOS AND AWESOME MEMORIES
some of my favorite games include skylanders trap team(my favorite game of all time, super nostalgic, still have fun playing it), knack(i know everyone hates it but i frickin' love it), spyro ripto's rage(the first game i ever played and still one of my favorites), ni no kuni wrath of the white witch(played it for the first time this year and it blew me away. it was just amazing in every way)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night would be in my top 10 for sure. I finally got around to buying a really nice original copy this year for my birthday. It took me three tries and months but I got it. Dark Souls is my favorite game of all time. I started playing it in May 2013 with a friend of mine that I hadn'tspoken much to in about eight years. We would talk on the phone while we played through it to help each other out. This rekindled a friendship that I hold to this day. I then got laid off from my job a month later and as the struggles in the game paralleled my struggles in real life, Dark Souls became a perfect metaphor for overcoming tough challenges. For these reasons, it will always be my favorite game.
Amazing video….I still haven’t tried Sonic CD. Mario 64 absolutely blew my mind when I first played it. I still remember that day. My step Dad drove us to the city to get an RF adapter to connect the N64 to our older tv. Fantastic memories ❤.
Wonderful list. I remember putting off Lunar Silver Star Story Complete for a long time, but when I finally played it, I was blown away. What a beautiful story. Hope your holiday was great.
Mega Man 2 is my favorite game as well! And pretty much for the same reasons. Didn’t own it as a kid but rented it constantly along with Double Dragon 2. Those memories are preserved.
Such a wonderful list, Tyler. We have so many games in common. I definitely was in the same camp with the Dreamcast, that this would be the console to bring Sega back into contention. Even though it never came to fruition, the Dreamcast, and particularly Shenmue and PSO are two of my all time favorites! Thanks for sharing!
Honestly Mega Man 2 is one of my absolute favorites. I bought it as a kid from a local rental store and loved it so much! My first Mega Man game I played was Mega Man 6 which was also awesome, but 2 was amazing too. Mega Man X is also a favorite of mine. One game that will always be one of my favorites is Super Metroid, if that was the only game I had I would be ok with that. Man so much nostalgia watching your videos! I appreciate your dad recording and you sharing. My parents were never into video games really, but watching these and turning on my mini consoles takes me back to when my brothers and I were young. Keep up the amazing work!
Being daddy is everything to me. I know I love my own, and getting to be there with my kids gives me more joy than I can even understand in full. Your videos just have love in them. That said, my own top ten that changes a little every time I write it (keeping the one game from a series rule): Earthbound (SNES) Super Mario World (SNES) Super Metroid (SNES) Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1) Zelda II (NES) Final Fantasy III (VI) (SNES) Time Soldiers (Arcade) Black Tiger (Arcade) Culdcept Saga (Xbox 360) Eastward (Switch) I'm not even sure that's correct, to be honest, but the top 7 are there is just about every version of my list, so it must be close!
It's been so nice finally seeing your top 10 and I enjoyed the personal touch that you added that lacks in other's lists. Keep up the good work Tyler, and have a wonderful year ahead
Very difficult to choose, but in no particular order: Crazy Taxi, Phantasy Star Online, Doom, Streets of Rage 2, Command & Conquer, Shining Force 3, Heroes of Might and Magic 2, Shenmue, Tokyo Highway Challenge, Road Rash 2.
Love stumbling across random channels that aren't insanely popular (yet) that get me subbing after 5 minutes! I can tell that talking about your childhood was bittersweet in that you had so many amazing memories but miss the people that were in it so badly every day. Growing up certainly isn't easy. Shenmue 1 and 2 are my own favourites. The games were almost too ambitious for their own good and not everything was executed too well. But the games had such soul and charisma that are rarely found in modern day titles.
Dude I know this might come off as a bad question or request. But could you do a video on your dad? The fact he was also passionate about gaming and clearly shared it with you and you had an amazing childhood due to this. He seemed so cool! I don’t know how else to word this. I hope it doesn’t come off as disrespectful
Much like how Mass Effect got you through a hard time, BioShock did that for me. I was fresh out of high school, and my family and I had to move out if town for financial reasons. The entire trilogy picked me back up from that depressive state. It's amazing how powerful this art medium is.
Your #1 is definitely my favourite in that series for me. Can't beat the soundtrack, and just the best boss fights. Pretty fair difficulty curve too. Final Fantasy 6 is my all time favourite
Shenmue was an incredible experience. It hold a special place in my heart and memory. It was groundbreaking for its time and I too became absorbed in the game. The details in that game drew me in. I think I explored Ryos house for a good hour at the beginning before stepping outside. And then I just marveled at the garden and koi pond. Amazing!
Mass effect, mario 64 and sotn are most definitely on my list! Loved this video bro and this channel! 🎮🕹🎥 My top 10: Resident evil 2 Zelda Ocarina of Time Silent Hill 3 Parasite Eve 2 Dynasty warriors 3 Castlevania sotn Mario 64 Mass Effect 2 Elder Scrolls Oblivion Sunset Riders
I base my top 10 now on games that made an impact on me growing up. They aren't always the best games, just ones that house the most memories. 10- Metal Gear Solid 9- Earthbound 8- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 7- Point Blank 6- Zelda Ocarina of Time 5- Jak and Daxter 4- Donkey Kong Country 3- Wave Race 64 2- Super Mario 64 1- Final Fantasy VII
After watching many of your childhood videos I’m convinced your legendary father was indeed one of the first adult gamers operating undercover: -‘Honey don’t you think our son has enough games already?’ -‘What do you mean?’ -‘I mean we have a mortgage… -‘Don’t worry honey we are fine and what’s more important than our son’s happiness?’ -‘Yes but we have so many video games at home that all the neighbourhood kids raid the house every day!’ -‘But isn’t that great? Our son has so many friends to play with now!’ -‘Ok I’ll buy it but still… -(‘Shit she’s getting too suspicious need to find better excuses next time’).
I always enjoy your videos. Growing up our parents always looked down on video games. I love seeing how your father was so passionate about playing along with you and filming all your experiences and memories. Priceless. Thank you for sharing.
It’s crazy how much of your Dad comes through in these videos. To the point that I feel some of the sorrow when you talk about him passing. Not so much that I knew him because obviously I didn’t, but more like knowing the world is a lesser place when people like your dad aren’t in it anymore.
My Top 10: • THPS1 • Tomb Raider 3 • Medal of Honor Underground • Star Fox Adventures • Super Mario 64 • MK8DX • 007 Nightfire • Mobil 1 Rally Championship • Need For Speed III Hot Pursuit • Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six

You know what I realized, with us older gamers, our most favorite games are usually the one with most nostalgia attached to it.
Hmm, not necessarily. I didn't play my favorite game of all time until I was 13 or 14.
Here’s a few of mine:
1. Mega Man 2 (Similar reasons to you. Played with my brothers when I was a young child)
2. Sonic 2 (1st games I played and beat without my brothers help)
3. Knights of the Old Republic (PC) (similar reasons to mass effect. Played during hard times in my 1st year of college)
4. Mario Odyssey (1st 3D Mario game I played)
Appreciate you saying that!
I have to agree that the water level on mario 64 brings a flood of awesome memories of that time. I also want to say that watching these videos remi ds me so much of my life growing up with video games. Keep them coming.
Thanks Michael!
So many retro gaming UA-camrs talk about their childhood and nostalgia. But what makes yours so special is that you have it on camera and you can see all the emotions that came along with it
Man I love this channel, there’s nothing else like it on UA-cam, thanks for the great content man 🤙
As someone named Alex, Lunar was such a special game to me, and with it also being my first JRPG, it was just, a magical experience that I'll never forget. Nor will I ever forget being 8 years old, never played a JRPG before in my life, and hearing Nall go, "Alex, oh Alex!", and being like, "Wait, Alex? That's my name!", an absolute masterpiece of a game, and a game from which innumerable memories were created.
YESSSSS SOTN LOVE
But yeah, my old man got me into games and he passed away back in 2014. I heavily relate to these videos, its what we bonded over.
Some on my list off the top of my head:
- Final Fantasy 4, 6, 7, and 9
- Final Fantasy Tactics
- Diablo 1 and 2
- Warcraft 2 and 3
- World of Warcraft
- Starcraft 1 and 2
- Sim City 2000
- Contra 3: The Alien Wars (this was on your list)
- Super Mario All Stars, specifically Super Mario 3
- Mega Man 3
- Super Castlevania 4
- Age of Empires 1 and 2
- Command and Conquer: Red Alert
- The Bindings of Isaac
Mass Effect is hands down my favorite game experience ever .
I have played part one more times than I'd like to admit, it's a true masterpiece.
I wish I could shake your dad’s hand, he seems like a guy I’d really like to hang out with. I’m so happy you have this footage to share, what a gift to your family and the rest of us by default. You really bring him to life for us and it’s such an amazing experience, so thank you both.
I love how nostalgic your videos are brings me back to my childhood for sure!
I get nostalgic when I hear MM2 soundtrack, I just saw Bit Brigade perform Ducktales, Megaman2 in concert and it blew my mind
Wow seeing that super soaker brought me back to the crazy water fights we use to have in the 90s
Awesome request! Will definitely get around to that
@@MyRetroLife thanks! 🙌
Knights into dreams was great. One of my core memories of being a little kid was playing this game.
You can add games to it if you do 😊
I modded mine, and I added some SNES games, GB, GBC, GBA, Sega Genesis.. 😊
My Fav game of all time is MGS on ps1. Hands down this game was it for me. The entire series was just phenomenal up to 4. Love tris channel.
You and your dad were such a team and best father and son gamers by far on UA-cam👍🏼💯
This channel hits hard with nostalgia, happiness and good memories.
"This was the first Christmas without dad"... bro... 😭
Dude. I love your channel. Such a great storyteller. And your dad seems like the coolest guy ever!!!! So glad I found this.
Lunar
The amount of money I would pay to go back to the 90's is absurd...
Geeze right in the feels with the dad stuff. Thank you for getting vulnerable.
Hey Tyler, there actually was a sequel to Nights on the Wii. It is Nights:Journey Into Dreams
In 2000, im happy i had a skateboard , but im happy u had castlevania on ur list
Thanks Joseph! Agreed on all that you said
Working my way through your channel the last few months. Really appreciate the videos
I have so much to say about your videos , but all I’m gonna say is a big THANK YOU. 👍🏼 keep being awesome bro
Thanks Cole! Same to you. Lunar is magic
Mega Man 2 was my childhood as well. Thanks for the video Tyler.
Nice list. I played all those as a kid, too. Sega Dreamcast was a staple in the household. Some of my greatest memories!
I’m going with shenmue 1-2&3 on this recommendation. Never would have thought about it. My future mail looks promising. Looking forward to it
Might have to try sonic cd now also 😂
Great picks! Though I started gaming in 1991, I wouldn't beat my first game until 1996 with Super Mario 64. So glad to see it on here!
Tyler - your videos are great, man! I have so much of the same nostalgia that you do around some of the exact same titles....great stuff.
My favorite game is also Mega Man 2!! Big hug from Azores islands, Portugal 💪 keep up with this fantastic channel and have a great 2023!
Hey dude. I'm newly subscribed to your channel. The home videos, They really really bring me back. Thanks for sharing and hope all is well.
Being daddy is everything to me. I know I love my own, and getting to be there with my kids gives me more joy than I can even understand in full. Your videos just have love in them.
That said, my own top ten that changes a little every time I write it (keeping the one game from a series rule):
Earthbound (SNES)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Super Metroid (SNES)
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (PS1)
Zelda II (NES)
Final Fantasy III (VI) (SNES)
Time Soldiers (Arcade)
Black Tiger (Arcade)
Culdcept Saga (Xbox 360)
Eastward (Switch)
I'm not even sure that's correct, to be honest, but the top 7 are there is just about every version of my list, so it must be close!
This has quickly become my favorite video game channel up there with Bithead1000. Keep 'em coming and I'll will never miss one... ever.
Amazing!
15:45 the way you feel about mega man 2, that's how I feel about The Guardian Legend on NES
Mass effect, mario 64 and sotn are most definitely on my list! Loved this video bro and this channel! 🎮🕹🎥
My top 10:
Resident evil 2
Zelda Ocarina of Time
Silent Hill 3
Parasite Eve 2
Dynasty warriors 3
Castlevania sotn
Mario 64
Mass Effect 2
Elder Scrolls Oblivion
Sunset Riders
Just wanted to say I understand your pain for the loss of your dad.i also lost my mom back in 2015 to colon cancer.it sucks bad.
Super interesting top 10. My top 3 would be 1. Tomb Raider on PS1, Contra on NES, and Street Fighter 2 on almost everything.
I base my top 10 now on games that made an impact on me growing up. They aren't always the best games, just ones that house the most memories.
10- Metal Gear Solid
9- Earthbound
8- Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2
7- Point Blank
6- Zelda Ocarina of Time
5- Jak and Daxter
4- Donkey Kong Country
3- Wave Race 64
2- Super Mario 64
1- Final Fantasy VII
I’m 40 and loved and remember all these games. But man, as soon as GTA came out I never looked back
Can't argue with those picks!
After watching many of your childhood videos I’m convinced your legendary father was indeed one of the first adult gamers operating undercover: -‘Honey don’t you think our son has enough games already?’
-‘What do you mean?’
-‘I mean we have a mortgage…
-‘Don’t worry honey we are fine and what’s more important than our son’s happiness?’
-‘Yes but we have so many video games at home that all the neighbourhood kids raid the house every day!’
-‘But isn’t that great? Our son has so many friends to play with now!’
-‘Ok I’ll buy it but still…
-(‘Shit she’s getting too suspicious need to find better excuses next time’).
I always enjoy your videos. Growing up our parents always looked down on video games. I love seeing how your father was so passionate about playing along with you and filming all your experiences and memories. Priceless. Thank you for sharing.
Love the diverse picks!
Great video. Surprised not to see one Zelda game on the list. RIP to your dad, he was the man!
I love your vids. They're my comfort watch after a crappy day.
Great list Tyler! Can’t argue with any of those being a favorite. Hope you have a Happy New Year!
Born in 86 and had every system except the Saturn.. but my cousin had it and nights into dreams..and time crisis.. memories
Another excellent video Tyler! Your videos are very therapeutic for me while I’ve been dealing with severe health problems. 🙏
Sorry to hear about your health Colin! Prayers for a complete recovery 🙏
It’s crazy how much of your Dad comes through in these videos. To the point that I feel some of the sorrow when you talk about him passing. Not so much that I knew him because obviously I didn’t, but more like knowing the world is a lesser place when people like your dad aren’t in it anymore.
My Top 10:
• THPS1
• Tomb Raider 3
• Medal of Honor Underground
• Star Fox Adventures
• Super Mario 64
• MK8DX
• 007 Nightfire
• Mobil 1 Rally Championship
• Need For Speed III Hot Pursuit
• Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six
Mega Man 2 is my #1 as well. Every beat, every boss, it hits me right in the feels 🤌
Wonderful video. Love the channel. So many wonderful memories.
I respect this list so much, it’s so different from the list I had imagined. Great video.
