- Leipzig is known as a city of music, with a rich musical heritage. Bach, Mendelssohn, Schumann, Wagner and other great classical composers lived or worked here and their heritage remains. But the music scene is not all rooted in the past, there's a lively and vibrant music scene today. And not just in the famous Opera House or Gewandhaus. We spent a day on the streets and visiting the churches and musical museums of Leipzig to get a feel for the musical vibe on the streets of a city of music.
